So what will be your dum stat this time around?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 7:49 am

So now that we know skills are gone and SPECIAL plays a much more intricate role in your build this time around? What will be your dump stat if any?

I think mine will be Luck. Even though, I'm guessing Luck will once again factor into VATS and filling up the Execute Critical meter at a faster pace, I'm willing to make the sacrifice since I will be spending many hours at the crafting stations and settlement building.

Hopefully Luck doesn't also influence what kind of merchants move into your settlements or how often your town gets ambushed by raiders or deathclaws. Then again, that might mean more fun with the gun turrets and setting up booby traps for XP kills.

your missing agility, also probably strength like every other fallout. I can deal with encumbrance and I use guns anyway.

Charisma is always my dump stat. I am infinitely more likely to unload a small armory worth of ammunition than I am to try and reason with somebody. And now that there is pistol whuppin' in the game, all the more reason to let the iron do the talking.

Probably Endurance. Many people would think this crazy at will affect Rad resistance/ poison resistance and general damage resistance plus HP, but I tend to like to carry a crap load and be able to get my speech related abilities up and about.

Well my first character certainly won't be low on the Agility so it's just as well you left it off lol. I'm thinking if I short any thing on my first character it'll probably be charisma.

I voted "Other" because I roleplay and my characters have different stats.

At first I was gonna go for charisma. But it looks like that might be really useful this time around. So I'm thinking maybe strength.

You know, I don't think I've ever really had a "dump stat" in Fallout 3 or NV. I think the most I've done is reduce one stat to 4. I also don't think I've ever started with any stat higher than 7.

With the new stat system in FO4, I've no idea what my starting stats will be, honestly.

Whereas I'm a notorious packrat, but can't stand moving at Encumbered speed. I generally always put at least a point or two in Str, thank the gods that the Str bobble is in Megaton, and grab Strong Back the instant it becomes available. Gotta have more carrying capacity! :D

I never put many points in Perception. Luck has become alittle more important now that it's, at least partially, has to do with ATP(stamina) now. I always put a lot into Strength because I love to hoard stuff in Bethesda games. :D I also put a lot of points into Charisma because I usually play a smooth talker... to get more caps out of people.

funny thing is I'm a pack rat as well but I just deal with the encumbrance. So long as I can walk I'll get there. It's also the reason I usually have a companion around.

Since I am going for an genius energy weapon scientist on my first run, I may make either Strength or Perception the lowest stats as they would probably be the least important for my build.

I have a feeling my first character will use agility as a dump stat that won't be altered much since I already have him planned out pretty much.

Probably luck, based on the reported perks so far. Doesn't seem to have critical (no pun intended) perks so far.

The bare minimum number of characters I will have will be two, so one will be more physical and one will be more mental. That is one will have higher STR, CON, AGI and the other will be more INT, CHA, PER. Both with an average LCK. I'll probably create another character with a maxed out LCK and average everything else, just for laughs. Hopefully something like the Wild Wasteland trait will be in the game as well for the LCK build.

I don't know, from the looks of things, I'm guessing Perception could be more useful this time around since VATS does not freeze time and hacking is done in real time.

If it wasn't for the possible romance options and some 'town leader' perks I heard mention of, I'd probably dump Charisma as well since I'm more of a 'shoot first, ask questions later' type of gamer.

I don't know if I'll have a "dump" stat, but I'll probably go pretty low on STR and END on my first go. I generally like to focus on CHA and INT with a little bit of AGI so my companions aren't doing all the work. With the new system though I'll likely have to wait and see. I rarely go lower than 3 or higher than 8 in any stats at first, but this time out that may change - I'll have to wait and see how it all works out.

Charisma has always been the usual dump stat in all of the Fallout games for me has it was absolutely useless, save for Fallout 2, but even then I found I only ever needed two companions at max. After that it's Endurance because health is overrated.

However, with the changes made to some attributes, it's hard to say. Endurance will likely be my overall lowest stat for what I plan on doing on the first go, with Agility and Intelligence being my main focused stats as usual.

For me I( Because...well even without skill system, I think Intelligent still affect your character building a lot ) > C ( I wants to unlock more dialogue )> L ( for unique item? ) > E( for survival ) > S( for carry weight ) > P( for lock pick "treasure chest" ) > A( for stealth ), so i thinks it will be agility.

Since stats are the gateways to perks, I couldn't possibly answer this question until I've seen a detailed perk chart and perk descriptions. I'll go heavily in stats associated with gunplay, settlement building and weapon crafting ... in that order. Any 'dump stats' will be those least associated with those activities that aren't otherwise essential for basic adventuring (like determining hit points and carrying capacity).
