What's with all the hate?

Post » Mon Apr 18, 2011 3:50 am

The hate comes from people rightfully expecting a fully playable game with next to no problems when they purchase it. It's very disenfranchising to spend 50-60 bucks on something you were expecting good things for only to get a 1/3 of that.

It's like being a little kid and being EXTRA excited for Xmas because you were good all year and Santa was gonna get you that shiny new bike you always wanted... then you get your Dads refurbished bike that was passed down from his dad.

The difference is you don't have to put on a fake smile and not say "WTF!?" because you spent YOUR money.

Well I think that's it's still a fun multiplayer experience, but it seems like no one realizes a lot of games have problems that are evident in other games. People say the AI is bad, but have you played the black ops campaign? Both the companion and enemy characters are as stupid as an american teenage girl! Your teammates actually run into the enemy and still don't shoot. And yet BlOps is regarded as some kind of amazing feat of modern gaming.

Well, I honestly don't give a major care about game graphics, as long as I can play it, enjoy it, and not get shot by "sniper"/shotgun noobs all the time *cough* S8: Prejudice *cough*, then i'm definitely down with it.

The Hate:

I can look past the lower quality graphics and initial online lag. That stuff can be fixed. Many multi-player shooters start off with bugs that are ironed out by the devs in subsequent patches.
But the lack of a lobby system, in a game touted as a squad based shooter, BLOWS ME AWAY. The sheer incompetence of this makes me want to take this game back. I'm going to give Brink a couple weeks to get their [censored] together. There is a lot to like about this game, but you guys make it REALLY hard.
And don't get me started on the Bot AI in the challenges.

Well I'll say that it's like coming down xmas morning and finding dad passed out under the tree with a bottle of scotch in one hand and a shopping list in another.

Brink is a game which I ultimately feel was done in by a rushed release. No game this long on this generation is so graphically bad by it's own volition. Someone else, someone in the "executive" line of things, pushed for a quick ship and some quick cash and left Splash Damage with a slap-dash product that even required a patch at launch (which still falls far short of fixing the crippling flaws of this game. At the very least I'd like my grenades to actually have a noticable visual effect tied to them.)

And I don't hold any particular malice towards those [supposedly] responsible or the poor souls who must bare the brunt the former's decisions (ie. Splash Damage.) This is business, and hey if it's better for the company to ship quick [censored] then so be it. I can complain all I want in the perview of feedback, but at the end of the day that might just be the least price that could have possibly been paid. Still though, I whine in hopes that someone listens and maybe even acts to make good on what the pre-launch talk promised us. Not horrible stalemates with 20/40 vision, but fluid combat in a beautiful environment.

Actually it wasn't rushed they pushed the release date forward a week because it was already done. And I personally don't care about graphics and don't understand why people care about them so much. As long as the gameplay is good who cares?

i like it. its decent for vs. on pc. im not very good yet, will be better once i learn the maps. only gripe i have is no female models, i think in this day and age you should go out of your way to include as many group options as you can. i would have gladly waited to buy this if they took the time to include girls in it.

I've been playing Brink all friggin day, and I'm pretty happy with it.

It's clear, there are some issues. It's very hard for me to get into the Multiplayer right now, as It's pretty much a lag fest. I'm not super irritated about it, as they're working on a patch. I really really really hope that they include some sort of a lobby via patch. I think it would really help the community. Maybe some balance tweaks, and we're looking at a masterpiece.

But I can't ignore some of the issues. The A.I. did seem a little too good to be true, but they aren't very S.M.A.R.T. Overall though, I'm really glad I bought it. A breathe of fresh air in the shooter genre.

I don't understand why everyone is saying this game is terrible I think it's great. Way more innovative than that piece of overrated dog [censored] they call CoD. I admit, for the first hour or so I couldn't get into it and I regretted buying it. But after I got the basics down I was running around the field reviving everyone like a pro and having tons of fun doing it. I don't know what threw me off at first, i think it was a combination of getting used to the gameplay and controls and not having good enough abilities to have fun but later on I was having more fun than I've ever had on CoD. :celebration:

Yeaa, I don't think hating on CoD is going to win anybody over.

These forums will be full of haters for a couple weeks and then will die down, just like in any game.

Also, BRINK does have it's issues, but I immensely enjoy playing it regardless. Just like I enjoy playing with Jessica Alba's boobs despite the fact she's had a baby. Still so supple.

That right there proves that us "CoD trolls" are not actually trolling.

I hate the game because the lack of a lobby system + the dumb as spit AI makes the game close to unplayable.

The game is fun, I will admit that, but one thing destroys the enjoyment for me. That one... HUGE thing is the AI. I wouldn't have a problem if ALL the AI (both teams) was [censored], but no, its only on MY team that the AI has the IQ of a f_c_ing limp pickle while the enemy has poor AI and can only effectively mob you or use their auto-aim killing system where they CAN'T MISS. Honestly, Halo's Legendary mode is easier to survive than the NORMAL mode on this game. It seems the harder I try, the more idiotic my team's AI gets and the less bullets I can take from the enemies! Just to test if I was just getting angry and being more nooby and rushing, I changed the difficulty from normal to hard, then from hard to easy. No difference. Same thing: Opponents having the eyesight of a hungry eagle on crank (no, not crack, crank) and NEVER missing even after I try to drop back around a corner. I love this game and it's core concept. I could play free match (offline) for hours at a time honestly but when it comes to finishing the game on the other side (started with resistance), it seems f_c_ing impossible! I'd love to see a patch to fix the epileptic team AI... All the AI is good for is using the medic class while your in the middle of an entire team who is waiting for you to stand up again to take a big heaping dump on your chest while, mind you, NOT shooting the medic who just ran infront of them TRYING to help you and only getting you killed again. I don't get it. They had gold in their hands yet they overlooked the AI? I mean this is bethesda. The games they make need more patching than a bad pair of pants, I expected that, but come on, the AI? That's essential even if its a multiplayer game! How did they not extensively test this game, in their fancy rolling chair while wearing the usual [censored] spikey gelled haircuts, enough to see that the AI had the intelligence of a dried up worm on the sidewalk?!
