What's with all the hate?

I don't understand why everyone is saying this game is terrible I think it's great. Way more innovative than that piece of overrated dog [censored] they call CoD. I admit, for the first hour or so I couldn't get into it and I regretted buying it. But after I got the basics down I was running around the field reviving everyone like a pro and having tons of fun doing it. I don't know what threw me off at first, i think it was a combination of getting used to the gameplay and controls and not having good enough abilities to have fun but later on I was having more fun than I've ever had on CoD. :celebration:

I enjoy the gameplay and the style.

What has driven me off the edge is that this game is supposed to be a team oriented multiplayer game...and i've yet to do an 8v8 match with human v human.

The MP isn't polished ... and the lobby system, or lack of in this case, makes for a very frustrating time getting friends together to play against other people.

What really bugs me the most is this is another game that could have been so great, yet the developed [censored] it up AGAIN...

I bought Lost Planet 2, i LOVED IT!------game was dead within 1 month

I bought the first Section 8, was AMAZED by the DCM's! ------ game was dead after a few weeks.

You know what both of those games were missing? An easy and quick way to play multiplayer matches with friends...aka Halo / GOW party system.

This is what really gets me...

It's simple. People won't join to tell use they enjoy playing this game. If they join, it will be only for purpose of saying that this game is terrible, so we get only few good words. IMO, I haven't played this game yet. But I am stalking it for a while and I think I will love it. And also numbers of people playing it on steam (like 10th most played game of the day(You must consider that it was only released in USA which is in fact a console county)), are making me sure BRINK will be really enjoyable if I'll get to :turned: it.

I have a 360 and enjoy the game... once an hour when I can get a game that's playable. Even then it's probably only a 7/10. Like someone else said... the game could have been great but a few stupid things really ruined for a lot of people.

That is true.

Most people won't join a game forum to compliment a game, but rather because they need some kind of game help (mostly happen with RPGs where they are asking for help with quests and so on), need tech help to get the game to run, or to just vent their frustration and complain.

And those who enjoy the game and experience no issues will be busy playing instead of posting.

Can't wait to see the numbers on Steam jump as our UK brethren get their copies.

Then again, the amount of negative threads might also jump.. haha

I'm still convinced that most of the hate is coming from the lag and graphics issue on the xbox..

^^THIS^^ I never got into the Lost Planet games, but I loved Section 8. SD reminds me of Dice. Dice openly states that they are striving to make Battlefield the best team-based multiplayer FPS on the market, and then in BFBC and BFBC2 they only allow you to join matchmaking with 4 people and don't even allow you to speak to all of your teammates (unless you are NOT playing with friends.) I'll be the first to admit that I have no experience in designing games, but to me this concept of wanting to play team based games with a team of friends seems like it should be painfully obvious, and yet there are still game developers who sabotage their own games by ignoring it.

Half of the problem is that the game starts us out with stuff that isn't very interesting. BRINK ramps up from there, I know, but it takes a while and some people just want to have everything now.

The other half is that it's really unconventional. Singleplayer that feels like multiplayer hasn't been the standard and as such it feels odd. In addition, the parkour system is slightly confusing if you're not using SMART (I'm just trying to get used to using the pro method, but still).

But another reason could be that there's something... missing. I can't put my finger on it, but there seems to be a sense of completeness that's lacking. It doesn't feel like a finished product. I guess DLC could remedy that, but the base game doesn't feel whole as opposed to other games.

I have been playing 5 hours straight on xbox 360 and get laggy at the start of a mission when we all spawn that clears up quickly. I am having no problem going 8 v 8 with all humans. I read the reviews and realized the majority of them were on the ps3 with bots. I have yet to play the game other than the challenges with bots.

I started and did all of the challenges up to 2 star to kind of get that tutorial on. I then jumped into free play and have been having a ball. Biggest problem I'm having is all teammates are NOT created equal. Objectives are not always clear at first, but it's not a fun killer. If you don't do the challenges you ARE going to get lost...especially if you're new to the "this is squad, class and objective based FPS. It's not Halo or COD.

I am wanting to call troll on some of these posts. I played it right after I got home from work...no lag...then 3 hours later I started a 5 hour session and very little lag...yet we're getting all of these posts talking about it takes an hour for a game match....maybe it's the PC portion?

Yes people are making up posts of horrific lag to bring down the Brink beast. Cmon man do you really think people are just making this stuff up? What purpose would that serve. The lag just really is that bad and it's not my connection.

I know I don't understand the complaints about lag either. Its only a little occasionally unlike games like Modern Warfare 2 that had so much the game would just end no matter how good you were going :swear:

Love this game. It reminds me of Star Wars: Battlefront, loved that one too. Can't wait for the PSN to get up and running so I can play online.

Ditto to this! Maybe it's just me, but honestly, the AI are horrible to me. So I'm stuck on the second to last Security mission, and I can't pass it because the AI are so bad! The Resistance put up the wall baracades, so I have to go get the soldier class blow it up, run back and get the engineer class (Because the AI obviously won't do the objective) and by the time I get there, it's back up. So I'm just going to wait until the PSN comes back up (Which I pray is soon) and beat that level's ass with my clan! Love everything else about the game though!

I haven't experienced any lag on my 360...which seems like a miracle from all of the complaints so I guess I am just fortunate. Had a great time playing last night and will be getting it in tonight as well...if I can ever get out of here. As for the lag......I remember this with GOW and COD too so I am sure they will get another patch in. I guess I have just been getting awesome hosts for P2P...I'm curious as to what network connections people have...I have fiber....but I had lag with COD black ops so I doubt it's the connection. Anyway, I'm sure they'll have it knocked out in a coupla days

The hate comes from people rightfully expecting a fully playable game with next to no problems when they purchase it. It's very disenfranchising to spend 50-60 bucks on something you were expecting good things for only to get a 1/3 of that.

It's like being a little kid and being EXTRA excited for Xmas because you were good all year and Santa was gonna get you that shiny new bike you always wanted... then you get your Dads refurbished bike that was passed down from his dad.

The difference is you don't have to put on a fake smile and not say "WTF!?" because you spent YOUR money.

My hate stems from the fact I can't play the game, and knowing how Microsoft handles patches...I probably won't be able to until next month.

Well http://www.gamerankings.com/pc/index.html has it up there #1 on both PC and Xbox 360. I am confident that they will move to patch this game as solutions to folks problems are found. In the end I believe it will turn out to be a ton of fun.
