Nope, I only used Lydia for a few days at the beginning to see what followers are like in Skyrim but mostly as my pack mule. I remember the day I officially stopped using her, was trying to sneak up on a troll and she kept running into the battle, regardless of me telling her to wait.

Because I am a bit of a hoarder, like many others on here I have to have Lydia as my mule. There's just so much I want to keep and I hate running back and forth between ever single mission. Half the time I lose her somehow and she just meets up with me later. I have no idea where she goes or how I manage to ditch her but she always comes back. I don't know how much longer I'll keep her. I've only been playing for two days so things may change once I get a house.

Ever since I got to the level of AoE spells and shouts, I just prefer to leave them at home.

I use to have Lydia as my follower but I released her, got tired of her getting in my way constantly and always falling behind.

I don't use them often and especially not that b Lydia. They get too repetitive, get in my way, and love stepping on traps. That button I went around in front of the swinging axe hall? Yeah, I went around that for a reason.

i dont use them, but they make a good pack mule and are pretty much required to play a mage; i think thats why they seem so prevalent, because their AI is still terrible and they are more of a nuisance than help in combat.

yeah, and not to mention the horrible AI... thats the worst part... But some things are cool like automatically picking up a staff of Fireball off the ground and wrecking house... keep that bit

I've never been one for companions. Never used a companion mod in Oblivion, didn't touch any of these companions in FO3 or NV, and I'm definetely avoiding followers.

Most people don't use followers actually. I know 7 people irl that play skyrim, 2 of them use followers, and only 4 of them ride horses.

I do pimp them out though. Just in case theres an even that they just happen to get involved in, they will kill all who oppose them.

I use Lydia all the time...mainly as a pack mule because I'm into alchemy and I collect tons of ingredients over expeditions (usually 2-4 dungeons/quests before returning to my home in Whiterun). I also found her very useful at lower levels, to soak some damage from stronger enemies. Now, I just bring her along to carry stuff for me. Some of the path finding is annoying, but it really doesn't bother me. If she gets lost, she will catch up eventually, or when I fast travel or enter a new dungeon/cell which requires a load.

I really don't have any big complaints about companions. Sure, their AI can be dumb at times, but I just do my own thing and make sure I don't hit/kill her while doing battle. She's kinda endured herself to me at this point and I enjoy her pathfinding stupidity from time to time :). Of course...if you're playing an assassin / thief, then you are probably better off without a companion. While they are decent and following you while sneaking, they are a bit dumb when sneaking and battling stronger opponents.

Who needs followers when you have master conjuration?

Sure, the pack mule part is okay I guess, but I find it idiotic to pick up everything. I pick up things I will use, or decorate my lair with. (atleast try to, until they fix the dropping bug)

I think it just feels like everyone uses them on these forums. I for one don't use followers.

Ditto.

Only time I've had someone running around with me is when a quest shoves them into a party with me.

Meeko is my guide dog and Stenvar is assisting my character. My character is blind and I roleplay to the best of my ability what a blind character would do. Stenvar felt bad for the helpless wander who ended up loss and wandered into the tavern doors alongside the dog that the boy found.

I like them. It enhances the RP experience.

I dunno.I think it's more so that people are excited about having followers in TES. Well some people at least. I know you had a few in Oblivion, but if I remember correctly they were kind of crap and boring. Probably not too much of an advancement, maybe upgraded to be more like in New Vegas. Bit immersion wise, they have to blow.

I like having a follower around. The game gets a bit lonely when you are all by yourself.
