What is up with Solstheim

I wonder, why are Dunmer dirt poor in Raven Rock?

It seems although they can barely pay for supplies, why pay the Dragon Born in massive amounts to kill people?

It makes no sense. Are they just stingy with their gold and just make it out to be as if they're poor? Didn't seem that way if they can dish out 10,000 septims here and another 2,000 there on quests.

Also, whats up with Solstheim being so damn interesting to the Daedric Lords such as Hircine or Hermaeus Mora?

In the game of Morrowind, there were werewolves and now Skyrim.....they are not only were bears but some crazy stuff going on in this expansion.

I honestly wouldn't want to live on that island at all.

Solstheim has the Skaal, people who had knowledge that Herma Mora didn't have, which put it high on his list of things to want. Herma Mora always wants knowledge. Not being able to get it makes him cranky.

Solstheim was the last place Hircine's Hunt was held, the Bloodmoon. His werewolves were all over the place, and hunted Hircine's quarry through Hircine's Maze.

The main source of wealth in Raven Rock was the ebony mine. When the ebony seemingly ran out, the East Empire Company left. The Empire gave it to the Redoran refugees. While House Redoran might have funds, the refugees don't, and won't until or unless you get the mine back up and running. The average miner who hasn't been working isn't going to have huge amounts of gold. Nobles for the House might. Everyone says things improve after you reopen the mine.
