What's with the arrow in the knee jokes?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:51 pm

Yeah it's gettin old already. It was fun the first day, then it got old and unfunny. Overusing something is stupid, and now youtube is flooded with these comments, much like the "the dislike bar is the size of justin biebers [censored]" comments.
People just don't know when to stop.

Well the only good argument here is.

Haters gona hate.

I usually say this to my son: I used to be a baby like you. But then I took an arrow in my knee.

Edit: Spelling

Back when I was a lot warmer and a lot happier with a belly full of mead, I used to tell criminal scum to STOP RIGHT THERE, but then somebody stole my sweetroll after I took an arrow in the knee.

[Guard] You n'wah! My cousin's out fighting dragons, and you disrespect me? Die, fetcher! You should have paid the fine!" *takes an arrow to the knee* "Death is highly overrated!" *Tarhiel's death screams*

[Dragonborn] *remains silent*

Dragonborn= *has TES culture reference meltdown*

really i had the lines" halt you criminal scum" and "murderer, murderer" when i entered Imperial city :D

ps: pickpocketing a poisoned apple into someones Inventory was pretty hilarious. watching them die just like that, and the reaction of the NPC's was golden

"oh! what happend" *kneels by body* Hes dead ! *stands up and walks away* -nothing happend- :D

I actually poisoned a whole guard's tower. I took all their food when they were away and had duplicated a bunch of poison apples and slipped them everywhere and even in their inventories for the ones sleeping. It was priceless to watch half the guards tower kill over. And then more came in:

"oh! what happened" *kneels by body* He's dead!" *stands up and then sits down to eat a poison apple*

The cycle kept repeating itself until my console was killing over with how many dead guards ended up dead in the watch tower. I wish I had a capture card back then, priceless fun.

I believe arrow to knee jokes are in bad taste! Would you laugh at someone that took a arrow to the knee?

The funny thing is that they are literally all over youtube. Even videos that have nothing to do with Skyrim have top comments about arrows in the knee. I knew that a lot of people play Skyrim but I after seeing the amount of people saying it on youtube, it's quite impressive.

that's what makes this so fricken funny. Somebody should do a song of it like Imperial Guard song lol.

It's a comment guards will occasionally through out there, it's apparently rather popular. There's certainly a tradition of guard comments taking off like this. First it was "Halt Halt Halt" with Daggerfall, then "We're watching you scum" with Morrowind, and then "Stop right there criminal scum" with Oblivion.

Mod for for the Win, I did not know about the "Halt Halt Halt" thing from Daggerfell. What tone did it have if I may ask? Desperate, Like "HALT! HALT! HALT!" Cannot imagine any other way.

Ever took an arrow to the knee? 98% of Skyrim guards have.

Yeah pretty much this. The meme originated because someone took notice how all the guards got their career from a terrible accident whcih involved an arrow in the knee. Look it up its hilarious.

I used to explain the arrow-in-the-knee joke to people that didn't understand it, then I stopped. The end.

It's a shame the guy who did the Farside comics never played Skyrim. He would have had a field day with this.
