What's with the skimpy armor?

The Nords are just too drunk to notice that they didn't wear enough armor parts; deal with it.

On the medieval ages there was no magic , or Argonians or Dragons... "Fantasy Role Playing Game" :turtle:

In the TES there's also swords that are used to stab people. They would protect themselves just the same.

If armor is skimpy what's the point of wearing it? It's supposed to help stop big sword, axes, and form destroying your flesh bits. Women have never had skimpy armor in TES, theres no "dealing" to be gone.

The only person wearing skimpy anything is the woman, and she's not even wearing armor. Not much of a point.

Nice.

This is a fantasy game. Conan and Red Sonja have just as much a place in it as any one of Arthur's knights. In fact thematically they certainly seem to be leaning more one way than the other.

That said, they've already shown a few screens with full armored suits. No reason for anyone to get worked up.

I get one can't make any sort of point with you , we show you the elven and Orcrish armor , naaaah , Arena cover , naaaaa , no way to have a discussion with one sided mind :wavey:

I still respect your opinion , but seems that every other post than yours is just discarded

(which not many people actually wore in battle)

No wonder why, it's so heavy and bulky. The only thing interesting is that it looks cool.

I know full well that there's armor that covers the whole body in the game. I'm making the point that there should be no skimpy armor. Why, because it makes no sense, and don't say "in fantasy nothing makes much sense", that's not true.

P.S.
It's still not a good point.

I downloaded it a little while ago, haven't been able to get out of the first dungeon yet, so I can't say much. The gameplay and imagery of Daggerfall and Arena are based off D & D anyway, there only related to the later TES by storyline.

Well, some of the armors shown are indeed useless and especially in a very cold climate like Skyrim it would be idiotic to wear them (not even counting in the lack of protection against weapons).

Especially since Bethesda claims they want to make a 'low-fantasy' game (= believable apart from the fantasy aspect like dragons, magic etc).

Personally I don't mind the slightly skimpy armor that much, but the OP has a point.

even in D&D there were examples of skimpiness. & yes there is a point to covering less, agility, why get hit when one can avoid the blow

I see armor thats extremely skimpy and that's not covering much. The armor on Dovahkiin doesn't even cover his back, and the one on the khajiit only covers one of his arms and just a small section of his chest. Last time I checked armor is worn for protection, not just looks. Skyrim is also a cold place to live so why is everyone running around like there going to go swimming at the local beach on a hot summer day? I actually HATE the look of the armor. I'm a history buff and the two things that I can't stand is armor that's either over the top, with random stuff jutting out of it, or armor thats basically a frying pan on a string. I hope they have more realistic armor in addition to this stuff. I'll still like the game if the armor looks like this, but I'm going to have a hard time ignoring the fact that swords are being deflected off my body by one cooking pot and a whole lot of air.

Maybe in 200 years people in Tamriel have simply gotten more open sixually?

By the way, armor is worn for protection, but there's a LOT of different types of armor in the world. Armor that completely protects you, like full plate, is awesome but...would make as slow as a turtle. Finding a balance between protection and mobility is one of those little reality check things when you are an ancient warrior. Look at some greek armors, like spartan armor. Sure, it didnt cover their arms...but gave them the arm mobility to drive spears into their enemies in their flanking formation. Yo have to give and take in life.

I completely agree, Bethesda should have made there very first trailer simply clips of all the super cool legendary armor, weapons & spells that you have to work hard to get that way we didn't get the shock of finding out about them for ourselves when the time comes to play the game...... What were they thinking holding details of something like that in reserve? :banghead:

And what exactly does that have to do with skimpy armor?

Witcher 1 is the only one to do armour right for player and NPC characters. After seeing that game I just really can't put much hope in any other developer making realistic looking armours that also look good.

That's all light armor, obviously. They're not showing us much of the badass http://i55.tinypic.com/11llwfk.jpg yet. And does http://i55.tinypic.com/2a9xz01.jpg look "skimpy" to you?

Just so you people know, I'm only talking about the armor in the pictures I gave. You guys keep going "Look at this one". Doesn't change the fact those armor examples are skimpy.

As we all know this isn't a fantasy game, this is a realistic combat simulator.

Light armor is light armor. In real life when peasants would go to war they never had full armor. Thats what I see in the pictures.
