What's up with the WiiWare version?

Post » Sat May 23, 2009 10:38 pm

Hi there!

It should've been released already, no? Was it cancelled or so?

Greetings,

I don't know the status of a WiiWare version.

EWJ was released on Virtual Console:

And EWJ2:

I'll ask.

At first I feared I've been misinterpreting gamesass press release, but it really does mention WiiWare twice:

Gameloft is still working on it, from what I've been told.

You're welcome. I didn't ask about the other versions, but it's probably safe to assume that, yes.

Somewhat related, here's a newsbit I found regarding a DSiWare version:

http://dsiware.nintendolife.com/news/2010/03/earthworm_jim_wriggling_onto_dsiware

No mention of the WiiWare version unfortunately, but a sign of life at least.

So the DSI game is going to be a remake of the original? Is the one for Xbox live/wiiware/PSN going to be a remake or an entirely new game?

Any news regarding this another quarter later? It didn't even get an entry on the "In Development" section here, so I fear the worst

A version is already on WiiWare, the HD version won't come to the Wii though and given the name, I doubt it would make much sense either.

The extra content would have been cool but I guess we'd just have to wait and see.

The original Genesis version is on the Wiis Virtual Console.
The HD Version will come to the HD consoles.

The previously announced WiiWare version this topic is about, has been cancelled.

Was Earthworm Jim HD announced for WiiWare? The press release on the first page doesn't specifically talk about the HD release.

I assume the "HD" tag was just recently added, after the descission was made to drop the Wii from the platform roster.

The HD tag has been around for a while from what I can remember. Was what became Earthworm Jim HD announced for the Wii then?

It's such a simple 2D game, I'd assume all versions (incl. iPhone & DS) share the graphics, the music and run on a common core. I'm pretty certain the WiiWare version would've been 99% like the PS360 versions. Think Mega Man 9/10.
