What's with this 64 bit crap?

Post » Thu Jul 07, 2011 6:14 am

I was very tentative to get this game at first, I had the first Crysis and loved the Sandbox editor, loved making open world singleplayer missions. SO I finally gutted up and bought Crysis 2 (D2P had it on sale for $16) once I heard the editor had been released. BUT in the fine print I see FOR 64 BIT systems only. WHAT the hell is this ****!? More than half of the PC community uses 32 bit. Crysis' Sanbox ran just fine on 32 bit and it was a lot better looking than this game, so I don't understand. I'm in no money position to upgrade to a 64 bit system. This game is only worth to me if I can use the sandbox, because the Multiplayer is horrendous and the single player campaign is alright-decent.

I'm on DX9 and can run all of the Ultra Dx9 settings and get around 50 FPS. Why crytek? Why!?

/end long nights rant

So if SB3 uses more PC resources and looks worse than SB2, then obviously SB2 is superior?

For starters, if you are using a 32bit OS to run ANY SDK you are a fool. If you are big in ANY editing you NEED a 64bit OS because you need at LEAST 8gb of RAM to do anything efficiantly. I am still stunned anyone uses a 32bit OS anymore, you may as well say you are using a Pentium core too. Get with the future and dump the 32bit BS!

SB3 looks worse then SB2??? dude now thats just plain trolling. Let me ask you this, why the **** didn't you upgrade to 64bit in the FIRST place?? I don't understand you people first you whine how CONSOLES are dragging PC game industry and now when we actually get PC treat you all whine oh wtf i can't run it this game is ****. SB3 in any way looks better then SB2.
64 bit is here from VISTA and i don't understand why didn't you people switch to 64 bit when W7 was released?? You all know you got CPU pretty much capable for 64 bit. I use 64 bit w7 for like 5 or 6 months and i never had any problems with it. I'm so happy that crytek is saying **** YOU to people who don't want to update their system to 64 bit.

What I want to know is why I can't run SB3 on Windows 95. Are you serious Crytek!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!! Not all your fanbois have super modern hardware & software - WTF. I cannot believe you treat your customers like this, it's incredible, it's attrocious, seriously it's like some kind or crime against humanity or something. FAIL. Windows 95 is the only OS that doesn't have loads of bloatware uneeded crap on it FACT!. I am gonna bang my desk and stamp my feet until SB3 works on Windows 95 - I am 100% not joking about this.

Crytek used to be a good company - WTF happened. I am never ever ever buying a Crytek product again :(

LOL NONE of my friends have a 64-bit operating system.... And upgrading for a game is STUPID! Btw. I think Crytek can easely cut some things in the Editor, and make it fit for a 32-bit system...

I guess, Crytek found out that you pay only $16 for their $60 game, that's why they released only 64-bit editor, just kidding : )

I think that's true, I use 32 bit also, but I don't think that even half of the PC community are dedicated modders.

Are you sure? You think just like console player. By the way, SDK isn't a game, it's a tool.

for real? i didn't even know it was possible to buy 32-bit anymore. like you would have to intentionally buy old parts now... anyway, i'm pretty sure the only reason i ever upgrade my computer is to be able to run the latest games.. what else are you going to upgrade for?

and like someone above said, microsoft is working on 128 bit... i mean, unless you REALLY want to hang on to windows xp and enjoy more viruses and spyware.
