What's up with ... no women?

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 2:49 am

I reread the OP. My apologies. I'm an idiot haha.

No problem. I really thought you were joking - or trying to make a point

... it tends to sound a bit ungrateful, and even a little sixist.

Okay, fair enough. If that's the way it sounds, I'll edit it out. Not everything I say or type comes out the way I want it to.

Patience ladies and gents. You will not be disapointed by the women of any of the races ;) personal guarantee. They can all look super hot or ugly. And it will not be hard to make them look either or if you choose.

Actually, I was under the impression that the mage in the trailer was male ( not before stopping the video to anolyze the single frame, through ); the Altmer in the tavern/assassination scene, however, was indeed somewhat feminine - but I can't say for sure. =)
Regarding gender choice in character creation...

I agree with some points here. I think its a bit naive to think they are holding out on women alone. We haven't seen the majority of the races yet. They are probably just using the generic guy they use to play the games with in testing. I don't think it's anything personal about women. Besides we've got a whole bunch of other stuff coming out this week. So women could be included there. So just hold it together. It's nothing personal.

This.

Honestly, the dude putting together the trailer probably wasn't even thinking about the fact that he didn't include as many women as he did men. And its REALLY early content, we all know when the game actually comes out they'll be plenty of women who play important roles in Skyrim, including potentially yourself if you make a girl character. May I also point out that there have been NO redguards shown AT ALL, but thats okay because we know by the time the game releases there will be tons?

Seeing the screen shots of the Orc and Khajitt, I'm guessing that the Redguards are going to look outstanding.

I'm not sure what your trying to get at. There have been plenty of women in screens. Also, one thing that Bethesda with all their games is they show off their themed character. In Oblivion it was an Imperial, in Skyrim it's a nord. They aren't belittling women or leaving them out, they are just showing their themed character.

Yeah, I know, and I get it's easier for them. But I do get tired of Hulky MacBurly. :P Did he have to be such a meat barrel ?

We're all looking forward to seeing the females. I'm a man and I make some female characters from time to time as well. (Is that weird?) I'm gonna look at the trailer again, that hunter in the forest is no woman, is it?

Yeah I have to agree with you on that. He definitely looks like a Herp Derp character in some screens hehe. I think it's just the stereotype of overly muscular men

I like him that way, he's a Nord and a warrior and pretty representative for the brutal atmosphere of the land :goodjob:
Although I won't make a character to look like him (maybe a Nord woman after I play the [censored] out of the beast races) I like him the way I liked Spartacus in the tv series.

That's what I thought, but I've been told it is. One of the mage's is supposed to woman, too.

And I find myself studying fingernails again.

yeah I watched it again and it does seem to be a woman. I realised I hadn't really looked at the character there because I assumed it was the same one from the screenshot of the same scene.

That's what I was wondering, has it been confirmed that the game has gender choice at all? I'm erally hoping it won't do a Two Worlds and be male only, that's just plain boring and bland. I want to make a female warrior or mage who can take dragons down.
If there isn't any gender choice than it's highly likely I won't be bothering with the game.

Of course they will, Almost every elder scrolls game has had gender choice why not skyrim>

So just because they don't post pictures of ladies means that there won't be any? Maybe there are, but they think that there are more important pictures to give us. There were plenty of ladies in oblivion, but they didn't really show that many pictures of ladies when oblivion came out. Ya they were ugly, but just because they aren't posting any pictures doesn't exactly mean there aren't going to be that many.

With Brink not having it then I won't be buying that game, I'm very disappointed at no gender choice in that. Same with Two Worlds 2, LA Noire and a few others. Other than Skyrim, if it's confirmed that the console versions also have gender choice, and Saint's Row 3 - which has gender choice - my game buying selections are slim this year. I'm tired of male leads, I prefer to have the choice for myself than be lumped with a male lead.

I'm just going to go and assume that you know absolutely nothing about this game if you thought a female character would have made any sense in a game were you play a WW2 veteran turned 1950's cop and detective.

While I'm glad characters can actually look vaguely attractive (as is commonly said, they really didn't previously) it still bothers me that the beast races and orc females have the capacity to look 'super hot'. I mean, they're beasts right? There are some good looking cats out there, but I wouldn't quite say I'm attracted to them, you know what I mean?

And I know they're not actual cats, but the point still stands. Doesn't seem right. But perhaps I'm just a pedant, I mean I really don't want beast females to have breats. Why would a lizard have mammary glands?
