I created a character that was a homicidal maniac that went around just killing everything and everyone for no reason at all? What would be the results? Would my gameplay svck? Would I have so many enemies that no one would sell me anything? Or give me a quest? What are the downsides to this?

You'd level your character up, go to jail, lose zero progress, and then everything would be fine.
