what would be a a ideal gpu for this game?

Post » Thu Jul 25, 2013 2:04 pm

I was thinking about getting a a gtx 670 2 gigs

there is also a 770 2 gigs superclock for 100 more

my current card is amd 7670 1gig

would that be a massive improvement?

but I really want to play with nmc

textures & still be able to increase spawns with mmm

while still have smooth fps

since i do drop below 30 while doing that

or wait until I find a 4gig card

I'm not sure:/

770 is one good choice. I use a HD 7870 Ghost Thermal and I'm quite happy with it. If you have the money go for GTX690 or HD 7990 but these are beasts +900$. Wait for more opinions.

This here. It actually says that 770 is cheaper and better. +The 770 is 1Mhz.

TomsHardware is a good forum for questions like that. And you'll get replies pretty fast.

ya I like to see lots of opinions

but I also want to know how much vram plays a factor is 2gigs enough?

670 was $300 770 super clock $410

my best bet is frys since I don't shop online

but they did have a 680 4gig but that was over $450

& I think the 770 2 gig outperforms that

also about this game

since its so old how it will react

& how much can I gain

I want nmc & still have big battles without problems

Here is the thing with Video cards. Unless you see a 30% improvement in benchmarks, like at these charts between two cards, your not going to experience any difference in a game that you play.

I'm really no expert in these things

but I'm wondering if this is enough for what I want

or could there be something better for cheaper?

This is the GPU that I have, and it spanks any game out there, even Bioshock Ultimate with all the eye candy

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007709+600286767+600298540&QksAutoSuggestion=&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&Configurator=&IsNodeId=1&Subcategory=48&description=&hisInDesc=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&AdvancedSearch=1&srchInDesc=

If you don't' care about noise, then get the cheapest one. However, the Gigabyte model with 3 fans is almost silent (it's the specific one I have). When I bought my Gigabyte card, it came with Bioshock and Tomb Raider for free, so that might still be in place for this card.

The only way you're going to see a significant difference between a 2GB card and a 4GB card in the 600 and 700 series GPUs is if you're running your games at extreme resolutions and anti-aliasing settings. By "extreme" I'm talking about well above 1920x1200 or if you're using multiple-monitor spanning when playing games.

Also keep in mind that the GPU isn't the only potential bottleneck. Bethesda's games can hit your CPU harder than most other first-person games out there. If you're having issues with big battles in Skyrim you may be looking at a CPU bottleneck rather than a GPU bottleneck. Not saying you are, but it's something to consider. What are your other system specs?

I don't recommend Gigabyte cards. I bought a 560 TI a little over a year ago and now my cooling fans are acting up. One of them is completely shot, it's pretty obvious the bearings are gone. Previously I had an EVGA 8800GT and it worked flawlessly for over 5 years. I finally gave it away when I got this card and I'm kicking myself in the butt over that. From now on, I will only purchase cards from EVGA, they seem to be much more reliable, at least from my experience. The card I had before the 8800 GT was also an EVGA and it too lasted me over 5 years.
