What would make you NOT buy Fallout 4?

What would make me absolutely not buy F4?

Sadly, if they put something like Crysis level requirements in order to run the game; I wouldn't be able to run it on my computer. :(
The very big thing that would definately keep me away would be if they put DRM, limited activations/installations, online verification; I didn't buy Bioshock because of this. This would be the one real thing that would definately keep me from buying F4.

Otherwise I'll probably purchase it since it is unlikely any of those things occur.

Unless, they return Fallout to it's original format, and disregard the "events" of Fallout 3, there is no way I would even consider buying Fallout 4.

They can't do that, and we can't ask them to.

*I will at least look at FO4 when it comes, but I won't lie and say that
I've great hopes for anything but its graphical appearance. The original series is dead,
and the new series is unconcerned.

Well actually as the customer, and if you follow the mantra of the service industry: "The Customer Know's Best"
That being said, we as the client have the full right to ask, and make demands upon a company to meet the demands of it's base. After all, if they don't wish to totally alienate the fans of the original Fallout, then it behooves Bethesda to create a product that will be deemed acceptable by the fans.

Problem is, the "new" fallout has more fans than the originals, so there no reason to believe they would do that, even if you were to ask them. It's a business, after all.

I agree with you , but the game industry has become an auction house, where the style of goods suits the crowd with most buyers.

*That's not what I meant though... You cannot ask them to go back on their decision, because they cannot afford the cost, (and its not all monetary).

The fans that the series was made for cannot compete with the sheer number of fans they can tailor it to suit ~even though it no longer fits as intended. :(

Lack of C&C
Crap character design (Fallout 3's characters were terribly uninteresting)
Enclave being the main antagonist (they're dead, time for some material.)

Nothing would stop me pretty much...unless they screw up so bad that the games would get the lowest reviews ever. Since Fallout 3 is the first game of the series that I played, I don't look back at the other fallout games, so basically this is the "original" to me. I mean seeing a few things like the Enclave or the BOS in FO4 would be very annoying, but I'd still play the game.

I'll buy it no matter what. But if it's the same as 3, just different people, I'd be disappointed. I really, really want more dialogue and a more in depth story with decisions that lead you into other directions. With 3 you can see all the options in one play through and they don't really have any effect on the game. Karma is OK, but being good or bad doesn't really effect the game in a dramatic way. Except for blowing up Megaton, but even that doesn't really hurt the game.

Plus, they made dad a jerk which was kind of odd. I haven't figured out if it's poor writing or if they intended that, but hiring some good writers with the ability to write an involved storyline wouldn't be a bad decision for them.

It was still a durn fine game though, the open-world thing was great and makes a bunch of other games seem simple by comparison.

If it lost the free-roaming and rpg aspects, then I wouldn't buy it. Regular FPS-games holds no interest whatsoever for me.

This, and/or if it turned out to be linear, railroaded, or otherwise so rich in story tht the only choices to be made are dialogue choices. That is, if it stops feeling like a Beth game, I won't buy it.

As has been said, if the RPG and open-world aspects of the game were cut back I would not buy it, or if the game is simplified even more so than FO3 was.

Anything significantly TES-lore like(magic, spells, armor, races). Seriously, if one piece of armor shows up that looks vaguely Daedric-like it will ruin the whole game for me. Or if they make 12 different themed official houses with lots of furniture that the player can buy.

Considering how long I had to wait for a half decent patch and how Bethesda was more interested in pumping out half assed DLCs over some solid patches I just wont buy a new copy of FO4. I doubt there is anything they can do to prevent me from buying it completely, but I refuse to buy a new copy. I will wait till the community irons out some glitches and flaws before I buy the game from a friend or some used software store.

Heh, no dice on that. Lack of capability and incentive (sad how money drives things, eh?). They've got their followers loving Fallout 3, so why change anything drastic.

If I suddenly became incapable of playing games. That would make me not get it. Nothing else though.

If it turned more and more into a shooter.

If there were less C&C than in Fallout 3.

If it lasted as much as Fallout 3....of course this would mean I'd have to buy the game, or borrow/rent it.

What do you mean by that? I'd say Fallout 3 is lasting a pretty long time for a lot of people.
