What would make you NOT buy Skyrim?

Honestly, if the combat is just as bland, I'll consider passing on it.
I know this isn't an action game, but seriously... Oblivion's combat was unacceptably boring.

The lack of the game. Pretty much all.

It could look awful, and I'd still buy it, just to know for myself how the game is.

If you are worried about them potentially not releasing a PC version you can breath easy, gamestop has the PC version on pre-order. Looks like a simulrelease with 360/PS3, PC.

I prefer to play female characters, so I'd pass if I could only play a male character. Other than that, I can't think of anything.

Only if they force me to be one race, and don't include spears and crossbows... no I'll still buy it and play it for the lore and such unless I really am restricted to only one race and then I'll just read about the lore.

...Oblivion was not a bad game, that all said, it just needed a little fixing.

My 200+ plugin load order agrees. And i really should find time to play Morrowind.

What would make me NOT buy it?

Nothing, not even death can save me from spending money on TES V.

And the heavens shall tremble....

Oh wait, thats another unreleased game.... :P

It's possible. There have been rumors that Bethesda is working on an mmo and at no point have they mentioned that Skyrim would NOT be an mmo.

but very unlikely

The only circumstance in which I would not buy Skyrim was if I got it for free.

Not even death could stop me, at least in spirit. In reality, death would likely stop me. Unless, of course, they have TES 5 in the afterlife.

I would say the only way I would not buy Skyrim is if it included a bunch of Fallout-like things, like V.A.T.S. and perks. That would be extremely stupid.

agreed.

No mods.
I just love the freedom of customization on the PC with mods.

I'm somewhat worried about this because the game industry is getting very console centric. Look at what happend with Modern Warfare 2.

No mods = no buy

The only way i wont buy Skyrim is if there are less than 6 factions, or if there is still horrible level scaling.

My answer is simple. Don't make it an arcade style game. Morrowind was the last game that still maintained the essence of true RPG. Oblivion was obviously toned down in order to please everybody(like the console people). Morrowind, actually, was also toned down after Daggerfall. So, I wouldn't be surprise if Skyrim becomes more "consolized", more arcade-like. If it does turn that way, well, we can always ask Obscuro to do an OSO.

a pay to play mmo.
if the only way to get it was by buying M$ points. That's about it. Considering how much enjoyment I got out of MW and OB, they could charge $100 for the game (probably not more) and I would still buy it. I have no problem with Steam, but I don't want to have to buy M$ points.

I figure there's not much of anything that will stop me from buying it. A lot of things could really bother me, and I really don't want it to be another Oblivion. The more I feel like I'm playing Morrowind, the better.

I guess if it were an MMO, turn-based combat, no specialization.
