I believe that it was specifically stated that cats didn't survive the war. Something about how they were too easy to catch and people caught and ate them.

As someone who has tried on multiple occasions to catch a cat who didn't want to be caught, I find this hard to believe myself.

Well, since they're extinct, a better question would be, what would zombie mutated cats be like?

actually not all cats are extinct, just domesticated cats. There may still be feral cats and big cats.

It would be an NEDM cat for sure.....so annoying.

I imagine only predatory cats would survive. Also maybe Fallout should include a Saber Tooth Tiger into there mix of creatures, I think it would be a great add.

Domestic cats are long extinct unfortunately, and any surviving feral cat populations just wouldn't pose a threat to the average player. But, if a future Fallout included background creatures like iguanas that were just there for the scenery, then yeah, throw in a feral cat or two!

Domesticated cats on the west coast are extinct as far as anyone knows.

But no one knows all, right? perhaps there have been people in vaults that had cats, who have mutated horribly and enslaved their former masters and are now pondering on a masterplan to take over the world!

As I imaganed a mutated fallout universe cat: Take your average home, garden and kitchen cat (cause that's the places they hang.) wich normally is about at maximun a foot high and perhaps two feet in length. (since I'm Duthc, I'm used to the metric system, I'm roughly guessing here) Now imagine a bobcat, lynx or other reasonably small feline creature. Double the size of that, add some clwas, splotched, sticky fur, glowing eyes and a growl that makes Satan wet himself so badly the hellfires are extinguished, and then you're pretty close to my idea of the mutated version of the domestic cat.

Don't even think about what I imagen bobcats, cougars and mountain lions to turn into....

i think the mutated cats are the wild counterpart of the cats.....
like mutated pumas, mutated lions (in Africa), mutated tiger (if they really exist), mutated jaguar, mutated leopard, mutated lynxes (i hope they're present), mutated wild cats (not ordinary house cats. they're tougher. try to pet them, and you will make yourself injured), and etc.

i really love to see a mutated puma which can be tamed like the Yao Guai....

and for those who wonder what FEV could do to a kitty, they can be a part of a centaur....
