What would i need to get a job at Bethesda softworks?

Nope. Oil and oil pastels work totally differently. For that matter, so do oils, acrylics, and watercolors, despite all being paint. They require very different techniques to do well.

Yes, but no matter how and what you are painting, your artistic understandment is improved even if techniques are different.

Working at Bethesda for nearly four years now (wow!), I think creating your own work (in particular, making mods) is definitely the answer I hear from most developers -- not just at Bethesda Game Studios, but at Splash Damage, Obsidian, and even id Software.

Along with that, QA is a great starting point for getting into development. I know that some QA folks that started around the same time as me are now apart of the team working on Skyrim.

General artistic understanding, sure. But it doesn't mean that a good painter can quickly figure out how to work with pastels. I know some amazing painters who can't draw, for example.

On the off chance you see this post, any chance we can get some sort of job question answering blog? I've got tons of stuff I'd love to ask. The application forms forms are identical for all positions, and some of them are rather ill fitting (in my inexperienced opinion, at least) for the entry-level jobs. For example, I don't think an average QA intern applicant can provide 10 years of employment history. Or am I that woefully under-qualified? :P

Slaughter a lamb as a sacrifice
then you must cut off your right pinkie toe only 1/6th an inch is to be taken off no more no less
then you must kill your first born
if you have no kids you must kill your parents oldest, if you are the oldest commit suicide and Bethesda will resurrect you and offer you a job

very tough selection
