What would the Children Of Tamriel use as toys?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:31 am

Would the children of Morrowind have different kinds of toys compared to the children of Skyrim?

Are there any references that tell you what kinds of toys children had?

And most importantly:

What toys do you see the children of Tamriel having?

I don't necessarily need references, I just want to know what sort-of toys you picture children having in the TES world.
I'm already thinking of Wooden Dolls, and Wooden Swords but I think I'll need more than that.

I'm wondering what all of you think TES toys would be like!

P.S. Enchanted Magical Toys imported from Summerset Isles aren't out of the question!

Well, I am sure they would have the same ones we see in the ancient world. Dolls, wooden horses, toy soldiers, toy weapons, marbles, balls, etc... As far as magical ones, this is where the fun really begins. I can imagine illusion-based things being popular. How about magic toy soldiers that make battle cries and move their weapons around? Dolls that cry. Toy magicians that make lights to simulate them casting spells. Perhaps a tiny magical carousel. Or a magical version of the old trick of a lantern cut with silhouettes, so that when you put a candle inside it, it throws out images of the silhouettes on the walls. Only in this case it would not need a candle. You just turn it on and it spins, projecting images of little dragons flying around the walls of your room. Or maybe a magical ball that moves around on its own, and the kids have to catch it.

Oooh, your magical toy ideas are a lot cooler than mine!

And I think the most popular thing would be Illusion too, since Restoration wouldn't do much, Mysticism is too unpredictable, Destruction... well we won't go there, Alteration would be a close runner-up to Illusion, and Conjuration would be out of the question. (I'd hate for my kid to summon a daedra!)

Maybe magic wands that just did little things like created sparks of light, or potions that made them float for a little while too.

But yours are much more original and creative, I'd be bad in the toy business.

Now seriously am I supposed to believe that?

M'aiq believes the children are our future.
But he doesn't want them ruining all of our fun.

There are no children

The regions of High Rock and Hammerfell around the Iliac Bay have them, probably because that's the only part of Tamriel where permanently glued-on underwear isn't forced upon the populace. And no, fanmade body mods are not canon. :stare:

:] Thanks for those references. It also shows you what kids wear too!

So they do exist!

Looks like one kid has a drum, and it also looks like kids used a lot of musical things too.

Nobles like to have them around in castles and palaces. They're often in some corner with jesters and musicians. Royal brats they try to keep safe but also quiet and happy?

I've also heard that "We Children are in good terms with Fighters Guild" from a kid. Guess it makes sense.

I'm imagining some sort of advertisemant on the Black Horse Courier that goes something like this:

Introducing new Oblivion Crisis line of Uncle Caius' Action Figures!

Includes favorites like the Hero of Kvatch, Martin Septim, Jauffre and many others including the ultra rare M'aiq.

Don't forget to buy the Siege of Kvatch Battleset to play with all your friends!

Also, don't miss our upcoming Infernal Creatures line featuring demons ranging from scamps to daedroth.

*toys suggested for children of all races ages 6 and up*

I'd also like to have a stuffed ogrim, it'd be like an elderscrolls teddy bear.

very good ideas: what about horsies!and more privaledged children get to ride on horses and have much more posh toys and the poorer ones would have much more shabby one.also it would be cool if you start out as a child and get to play as a child, beat children up,poo on the road .ETC and as you mature you can still play with the toys but they dont give you as much benefits . :mohawk: and then change to :nerd: and then you hang around with old people :cookie:

Children? I'm pretty sure everyone in The Elder Scrolls universe materialized in a prison or dungeon somehow.
Well, I mean after the events of Daggerfall this is what happened.

You know, in case you weren't already aware, even though it doesn't exactly have posable joints or anything. Check Ebay.

In Medieval times children played games, drew things, painted, played with little wooden stuff, and occasionally got a hold of something interesting. I imagined chasing the farm animals was pretty satisfying as well.

I imagine most parents wouldn't like for their kids to play with Daedra or magic. I doubt most parents were that rich. The ones that were might how found something Dwemer...

Oh heck, just buy the kid a computer.

Stone/wood/bone carved objects, kollop/mudcrab shells, things made from scrap metal, and a dragon action figure for the rich kids.
