What would & wouldn't you like to see in the character c

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:23 pm

Do Want:
- Better looking faces / presets in general
- More hair options (including longer hairs for females)
- Beards / tattoos
- Slider bars that don't affect each other
- Numbers on slider bars for precise control
- Customizable body options (with sliders, i.e. height, fatness, muscularity, body part proportions)
- More natural / realistic distinctions between young / old characters
- Ability to make younger and older looking characters than Oblivion (around 16-20 / over 60)
- Better lighting / customizable lighting
- Ability to customize face later (via console)
- Ability to save face / body presets
- Customizable hair length
- Physics affected hair (probably won't happen

Don't Want:
- Same facegen engine as Oblivion
- Crappy lighting conditions
- Low res textures
- Awkward skin tone distinction between neck and body
- Degree in modeling to make a decent looking character
- Beards and eyebrows only as textures

Make it deep, but not as easy to make someone who looks like they have gotten their face bashed in a few to many times.

Somehow, even though Oblivion's engine made it possible for every NPC to look unique,I feel like they were more unique in modded MW.It's the feeling, not theory of course.Probably when you have sliders even the most modified one looks like the base. So,little base and stronger sliders perhaps?Multiple Base presets?

Perhaps,sliders like "eye to eye,eye to nose,eye to ear,cosinus eye/mouth" are useless.Give us more hair-facial hair-accesory options I say.

I really want to see more hair styles. For a game that prides itself on player customization this was so far lacking it wasn't even funny. Every character I had to choice between the 2 good hair styles and that was it. Granted they had like 10 different hairstyles which is more than most games, but they all looked really bad in my opinion. If you allow us to customize every aspect of our characters look as you have don't before, please don't whimp out when it comes to the hair.

After you create a character an option to save your character design should be available for your next play through even if your restart on level 1 your character design could be used in the new game, kinda like Altair4 mentioned. Downloadable content like added quests weapons or whatever could include more character parts like added hairstyles tattoos scares & so on in each add-on

What i wouldn't like is that stupid blur effect, WTF FalloutNewVegas every time something wears off the screen has 2 go blurry, really? That alone cures my addiction to anything
What i would like to see is, faces & character models that look as good as dragon age

Better graphics? oh, checked.

Changing looks would be girly. I'd take it if you could only move sliders 20% each time in facial features, to keep it similar.

For me it isn't that I want to make major changes. It's that a character often looks very different in natural light, or you see them from a different angle and discover that they have a bald spot where their hair doesn't quite fit their head.

Contrary to the OP, I think that sliders affecting other features makes facegen much more powerful and would like to have its capability. I'd also like to see preset options that allow a player quickly to create a decent looking character if they don't want to treat chargen as a prequel.

Things I want:
- Better lighting for the character creation screen (the one in Oblivion was so dark that you might've thought you looked fine, but then get done making your character and realize your skin tone is lighter than what you wanted and your hair is brown instead of black)
- More hair options and variety
- Body build customization

Things I don't want:
- Voice options
- Orange imperial skin
- Dungeon setting for character creation

It's implemented though so you don't have ridiculous looking characters though isn't it? So you don't have someone with a GIANT nose and teeny tiny mouth?

I don't know much about it though so may be wrong...

Nope, Saints Row 2 and Mount & Blade both have sliders that don't affect other features, and you can give your character a tiny mouth and other funny features (my mount and blade character has a GIANT unibrow). I loled pretty hard when he got married and the bride walked in and looked at him all -_-

Think it's all been said more or less. I do want eyelashes, though. Maybe add teeth to mouth customization. I'd like a toothless brawler =). And then definitely more bling, like nose rings, tattoos etc.

Hmm.... Different skin/fur/scale/texture types per race? Like nords with freckles, since they should have really white skin? Just an example, tho.

Better looking characters, actual beards, and better hairstyles with actual depth. If Skyrim's engine is taking it to the next level, these things are to be expected.

Most of the points I'm interested in have already been made.

Only things I can think of are skin tones for Altmer that look less like a bad case of jaundice and the (optional) ability to write a character biography in game.

1. Beards. Maybe start with a list of presets like in Fallout3 (but not those presets, god they were terrible), But with the ability to customize length with sliders maybe, from stubble to a full face beard that passes your belly button.
2. Hair. Mostly the same as Beards (see above) and have long hair for male and female. I'm a guy and my hair reaches the small of my back, I should be able to do the same with my male characters if I choose... without mods.
3.Decent Lighting Conditions at character creation. It's been said enough times, I don't need to say any more.
4.Body customization. Same as Lighting Condition (see above)

Basically, i just want as many options as possible so i can truly create something completely different from anyone else but at the same time, i want something which is easy to use. It might just be me but i thought it was very very hard to get a satisfying result in Oblivion and Fallout 3. This was also in part because of the poor lighting, this was especialy a problem in Fallout 3.

So something very deep but at the same time more user friendly.

For those that don't want to deal with customization, better preset model face & bodies, Not like the horrific choices from the Fallout series but preset models that look amazingly good.

-a color that doesn't change from the neck to the body

-maybe a few less sliders that are more meaningful

-complete control over eye color (I want to make a very pale-eyed mage. can I?)

Meh, my character isn't very important to me. I play first-person.
I'd much rather want Bethesda to focus on even better graphics or bigger world or better environment, etc.
Also, we know the characters look good already, and I'm happy with that.

Each to their own,but i'll hazard a quess that 80-90% of us care about what our characters look like.
I do....i play first person, but i still stop and look at my character & the game world....i think its a good part of TES.
I want to know what i wear fits my playstyle or character, does it look good etc...i believe alot of people do that.
Hense why people want cloaks & individual body slots like morrowind,so we can mix & match & play around with our characters,to me thats important.
The idea about a shop to change appearence - i like ( and as one poster said ) it's not girly at all.
Aslong as we cant change everything its fine.
If we want to get a new hair style, longer or shorter, colour, beard,or remove beard,tatoos...that kind of stuff is ok, just not height and dramatic face changes etc, except for maybe scars.
All this stuff would enhance the role-playing your character etc....options are good.
Also...i would like to change the colour of armour & maybe some weapons, maybe even go as far as changing the colour of certain spells...if those "options" are there ,where is the harm in that?
Or at least let us change the colour of glass armour/weapons,that would be exellent :)
