What would & wouldn't you like to see in the character c

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 1:55 am

Besides being able to adjust body size and proportions I want better previewing of my final "product". Movable lights with adjustable intensity and a preview room I can run my character around in without starting the game.

What I don't want is Fallout 3's simplified creator. I love sliders, the more the merrier.

This would be a nice feature.

While on the subject of character appearance, what would also be cool is if the game supported reflections. That way, those of us who prefer to use 1st-person view would get little reminders of who we are whenever in a house with mirrors or when standing near a reflective pool of water.

Please please get rid of that bizzare neck join. Spent ages on skin tone only to find the face changed differently to the body. Never understood that. And there are mods where you get to wear a collar or choker instead of an amulet just to hide it. And keep all the sliders and options. Fallout 3 had an awful face generator to go with the awful 3rd person. Just sort the face -body tones Please.

I'd like more hair options. I tried making my character look like me, but my hair grows into an afro, not the wavy long hair that dominated most of the options. Aside from that, I'd say I just want more short or medium length hair, too.
OH, I'd also like better skintones. Some Imperial NPCs were so orange I thought I was in New Jersey instead of Cyrodiil.
For skintones, I'd like more mid-range options. It felt like skintones were either way too pale or way too dark with no real middle ground (or at least none that looked good... everything seemed yellowish or orange)

I just don't really care for all of that character creation stuff. Give me a piece of paper and stats and I'm good to go  Or, if on a computer, maybe 3 selections for hair, clothes, etc. It just gets in the way of playing the game ;)

You know, I really don't understand why people like you play role-playing games.

Some people like to role play, some like to kill with axes and fireballs. Live and let live or rather live and let kill

Hahaha, yes please... I'm sick of playing waifish women that don't resemble me at all...first thing I mod. Hourglass figure FTW. :mohawk:

Also... muscle definition (if that's possible?), BEARDS, much better hairstyles (please give us long hair for once! why don't video games ever do this? ), better skin tones (unlike in Obliv, where the face went ugly if you made the skin dark or changed the complexion...), make up (black eyeliner = only thing I wear)... don't really care about tattoos in the face creator, but would like some for the body textures.

And the number one thing... I hate when you move one slider, it undoes another slider that you just moved. That drives me absolutely crazy.. I don't think they did this in Dragon Age, and it was sooo much easier to make a good looking character. So I really hope they don't implement that again.

I would love to have the option of lazy eye. A choice of 1 to 10 regarding the severity of the condition. This would also have an impact on first person view.

LOL Genius!

Yes! I absolutely agree with body customization, I found it really funny in FalloutNewVegas when this NPC asks have you seen how beautiful she is, I'm like uhm who cause they all have the same body & their faces are horrible. If there are sliders in Skyrim they should at least add numbers to the bars & we should be rewarded a trophy or achievement for putting up with that crap. Sliders that effect each other aren't necessary, i've played games without sliders doing that & never had any problems...SaintsRow2

I want a character creation system like the ones in Aion and EVE. TES can't have anything inferior to that.

Get rid of the weird skin colors (green faced redguards, ughh!) and the neck/body seam.

Doesn't matter what you do with your character's body, someone who should get a real girlfriend will mod a double H cup, no doubt with a japanese school uniform

As long as there's gender choice instead of a generic male only like Two Worlds, Gothic, Risen and many other games force without allowing the player to choose for themselves, then I'm content.

Though a body modifer system for character creation would be nice for a change, if Saint's Row 2 can manage it, then why not RPG's? And a height modifier, I don't see why the default height for a player character should be 'How's the climate up there?'. I'm 5'3 in real life, I wouldn't mind the option to make my female character in a game the same height. Used to being short, the idea of being tall is a bit odd to me.

I think things like Traits a la Fallout would be interesting to have at char creation, and it's plausible seeing as they've already implemented Perks. Also, some way to define your character beyond looks and Birthsign would be nice, possibly a variety of Histories that you can select like Outlaw, Nobility, Mage, etc.) that would determine your chars' inventory and skills.... but I doubt that seeing as they've already gotten rid of the classes. Either way, all the TES games have presented the player as a Tabula Rasa-type figure, all that defines them is what you do during the game - which is nice in a way, but I think it would be cool to give them more definition like that.

Then I can finally show off my character's battle scar.

The one where it went through his head and left a hole in the nose and right eye socket.

I mainly meant the slider part for color anyways not form sliders.

This is my wish list for character creation

1. Better slider, One slider shouldn't affect the whole face
2. I would love for the ability to morph the body, although its a low priority in my book I would love for the option to have it though.
3. Better Hair and the ability to change the hair color and hair type in the game like in Fallout 3.
4. More Options for the face, Let's be honest this is the one thing that Bioware is crushing Bethesda in and that's facial creation. I hope Skyrim changes that so they're more options available when your creating a face.
5. Facial skin that matches the body's skin color, Oblivion had trouble with this one where the body's skin type didn't really look the same as the Face and I hope that's changed in Skyrim.
6. Better Body Morphs, Wood Elves shouldn't have the same body type as an Imperial like for example a Male Wood Elf is still going to have a six pack when he was killed in Oblivion. Hopefully thats changes and also the Females too. They should look more feminine.
7. Better Looking Male or Female Vampire Faces, If Vampires are in Skyrim, then I would want the female Vampires to look like a Female instead of a Man. That was annoying in Oblivion and is the only reason why I haven't used a Female Vampire yet.
8. Different Eye Colors, Have more then just Brown, Blue, and Green. Heck maybe have sliders on the eyes. Its a low priority but I would love to see it done.

I know I have more ideas but I just can't think of any that are more important then the ones that I listed. Also number 4 isn't a slap at Bethesda as I like their character creation in both Oblivion and Fallout 3. I just wished they took more time when they created the system. Hopefully they will make changes in Skyrim as I find that Charater Creation is the most important thing in my opinion about Skyrim. If the character is ugly well its not going to be fun when you open up the main menu.
