I don't know if I would make it look new but I know the end result would be very similar to http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Republic_of_Dave

I voted to pass on it. I won't be making a home in the game, i'll only carry the gear I need and sleep wherever i make camp for the night during my travels. I just find the role playing experience to be more enjoyable this way.

I don't know about making it look new but I wouldnt mind sprucing up a place to call home. Take that picture of the garage with power armor for an example. It would be cool to be able to find all that unique vault tech stuff and keep it on show in your house. Like the skill book rack, etc. Also I think it would be cool to have a quality system in place for these items. For instance. When you find a skill book rack it would be in horrible condition, using your repair skills you could gather items around the wasteland like paint, glue, scrap metal , etc to restore these pre war items to their former glory. It would be cool to try and find all these unique items and restore them. While were at it throw in a trophy for restoring all possible said items.

I like that idea, building up a home base. Bit of personal pride.

How did that song go...?

Didn't vote. No option to mini-nuke it :P

I never really cared about player housing too much in Fallout. I camp out a spot and return to it every week or so, doing this ensures it never respawns. Also testing the location with junk items to see how long the spawn time is, as well if the containers are safe or not during a respawn. I don't mind if enemies spawn in my home, after all they might think it was abandoned and tried to move in. So long as my stuff doesn't get lost in a respawn.

yeah probably. I'd like there to be tons of options on how it could be done. one thing I was thinking was about how the devs of BGS liked minecraft enough to add a mining feature to skyrim so maybe similarily we shall see if that has influenced them to add a more detailed crafting and maybe even building system in FO4

While I don't think it fits the story or setting well as a survivor, I love having my own house in open world games and would definitely take up any chance to get one. Fixing it would be exciting, too. Renovations are great, as long as it isn't as long and tedious as Hearthfire.

If there's nothing else to spend caps on I don't see why I wouldn't just chug it in the face of whoever I have to pay to fix it up.

I don't much care for house customization though so if it is even slightly tedious or annoying to do I'll avoid it like plague.

I'd be down. I loved the Hearthfire DLC, and having more "slice-of-life" gameplay and being able to build up a little base of operation would be sweet.

Yes, Hearthfire was great. The more customization options, the better. I'd really like to be able to create a unique space for my character to call home.

In FONV, the only fixing up I did was to add snow globes to the display.

In FO3, when I got the cash I got the "Love Machine Theme". That way, I could sleep in a bed without getting trapped by two companions and a robot that thought the door to my bedroom was a great place to kick back and hang out.

In short, to me player housing is normally just a place to sleep and to store my ill gotten gains. Any modifications I make will be only to further enhance those two functions.

It will depend on the character that I am playing. Some will be in the mindset of just living outside.

What I would like to see is camping supplies you can have, a Backpack, Sleeping bag, a tent and something to create a fire. Maybe a Portable Wilderness Survival kit from Vault-Tec for those who were not lucky enough to get into a Vault-Tec Vault.

Fallout 3's Megaton home felt more like home to me than any option in New Vegas. Hopefully whatever the housing is, it is NOT surrounded by multiple load screens. I would also hope that it isn't a totally overpowered option like the SINK in Old World Blues. I never played Hearthfire and i didnt use any of the custom themes in Fallout 3. I simply displayed my gear as i could, and decorated with in world items by laying Alcohol, Tobacco and a Firearm on all the tables... with a magazine or book.

Maybe it could use some features but I think for Fallout it would be better if you could clear out and improve existing structures.

Oh yeah I would fix it up, I love player housing. My presidential suite and Sink in Big MT were stuffed with all manner of weapons and clothing items/armors and so on. I like having a nice house I can relax at after wandering through the wastes.

Id fix up The place.

But I have a somewhat naiive Hope that they Will let us have a stronghold of sorts.

Being able to fix up a derilict vault, base or skyscraqer would be awsome.

Especially if you could put your companions in charge of fixing it up or running patrols.

Yeah I would go around looking for junk to bring home for decoration. clean it up, patch it up, paint it, renovate it. I would also be on the look out for good condition items and furniture.

Put posters up, place trophies, have an armory to display armor and weps. Make it look less of a dump, after all there needs to be something that each person finds beautiful among all the ugly. I find it soothing and theraqeutic coming home to a well kept space after seeing the nastiness of the outside world.

I picked fix it up, but only on the inside. For security reasons I would want the outside to look like any other abandoned house. I would secure it and make the inside nice. Even then, I might like to have a cave or someplace I could claim and make my own to store things. If the map is the size of Skyrim, or larger, I will need multiple stash houses anyway.

In FO NV I had a whole town to myself - Nipton. I settled into the house across from the store, since it had no blood stains. One of the houses had a workbench, another a reloading bench, all the amenities I needed. :)

I decorated the kitchen, put my gear and weapons up, it had several closets to store stuff, a nice cupboard to place my cigarette cartons on. I stored all my repair gear in the 2 large cabinets in the house with the workbench.

I sure hope we will find some cool places to hunker down in/around Boston. I am a pack rat and need some kind of base to store my stuff! :)

I would fix up the place.

I am a bit obsessive over my houses in these games and decorating them. Hopefully we can decorate our houses in Skyrim it's such a chore I gave up on it. Every item would tip upside down. In Oblivion and Morrowind I could set up a house with no problem.

Hopefully it's easier in Fallout 4.

I'm starting to see a bigger picture here with all these discussions going on. It sounds like people want this to be Skyrim in a Fallout setting lol. Marriage, home building, crafting, etc., etc.
