What would you like to see in an expansion to Fallout 4?

I have a few ideas of my own, but if you have some too then lets get it started! The more posts we get on this subject, the more of a chance we might see some great stuff in Fallout 4's inevitable expansions. Or if they don't it will at least spark some ideas for great mods. I highly suggest posting ideas in thorough posts and responses as not to reach the limit without getting the most ideas out there that we can!

Some of my ideas/suggestions:

- Make the Brotherhood of Steel likable/benevolent. It would be nice to see a new leader step in that is more open minded about non-humans, I'd like to actually want to side with them on something beyond just their style.

- Please no forcing factions to kill each other off, maybe the option to be diplomatic with a high charisma score for an ending where the factions unite might at least lead to an ending that's a little less uncomfortable than the other four. Or at least let me play double agent until literally the last 30 seconds of game play.

- Add a Perk for Strength which allows the player to wear power armor pieces without the actual power armor suit. Like a Boss.

- Remember how Skyrim had horses and dragons? Well add Vehicles. I want to drive something, and run NPCs over, or do drive-by shootings on other mobile raiders. I want to upgrade a motorcycle, or deck out a 1951 Cadillac with monster truck wheels and a flame thrower. Mad Max style, FTW. So, maybe I want to crash an entire vertibird into an unsuspecting rad roach. Doesn't mean I have impulse control problems.

- Screw work benches, let me build anywhere.

- Let me actually build the weapons and armor, not just put mods on them.

- On that note, I want a full length chainsaw to wield, like a sword. Give the brotherhood those svckers too.

- In fact I want a riot shield to go with it, so I can carry that and the chainsaw in my power armor and be a true post apocalyptic psycho knight.

- Let us choose to turn into one of the other non-humans at the beginning of the next expansion. Like have the sole-survivor's mind get placed into a synth, or become a rotting ghoul, or a steroid pumped super mutant. That would be sick.

- Have an actual survival mode where the character gets hungry, and when either the player OR the NPCs both get hit, its like two shots to the chest, or one shot to the head and blam! Dead... Maybe power armor is like Four shots or whatever.

- Make all characters non-essential. Like literally make their presence real in the story, but pretty much optional, so everyone can get iced, and the problem gets solved ASAP if the player is awesome enough.

- Make it so that the ground can get dented, and all of the environmental objects in the world can get destroyed with enough damage, then they like explode into the scraps that compose them. That way if I become extra impulsive, I can go ballistic on sanctuary or diamond city with mini-nukes and turn them into literal craters of rubble.

- Take off the building limits for settlements, I want my Xbox to freeze when I make a 10,000 foot skyscraqer out of the Red Rocket Gas Station.

- Make Aliens super important to the main plot. Just cuz. *Aliens*

- Duel wield, why you no give duel-wielding Bethesda?

- I want a Death Claw as a pet. Because why not?

- Make it so any NPC can become a permanent companion, even people and creatures that get pacified by the pacify perk.

- Let me have as many companions at the same time as I can eat-er as I want... at the same time. N'stuff.

- When I'm at my settlement, that @#$% should get attacked once a day. Like clockwork. With me there to fight @#$% off.

- How about some cleaner prefabs, and walls, and objects to work with in workshop mode... with less holes in em'. Like that institute stuff. I want my cities to be all shiny and futuristic and beautiful before I launch my mini-nukes at them.

- Let me scrap those rickety house skeletons in Sanctuary, those things are an eyesore. And lets be honest, nothing we use to build right now is actually going to protect a human being from a full on radiation storm.

- I want my own Airship. One I can fly.

- Shaun. I think he should still be still alive miraculously, as like a ghoul or a cyborg companion of some kind. That would be funny.

- In fact, I should be able to use institute technology to march my butt back into vault 111 and bring my spouse back to life, as is, no funny business.

- Last one. I want a full size death claw launcher. You heard me...

I'd like to add that there's folding chairs and cat meat everywhere in this game. And yet I still haven't hit anyone with a chair, nor have I gotten to make general tso's chicken. Whats the problem with this picture?

For settlement building I'd like an overhead view as if I'm drawing up the blueprints to the place, I'd like to see more prefab so if I want a wall around my settlement boom there's a wall and maybe throw in a moat if I can. I'd also like to have some kind of system so I can just select an area to plant crops without planting each individual one myself same goes for the other resources, I just want to build a settlement quick and easy

Agreed with the BOS suggestion, I never liked that faction. I also don't know why after you attain the Rank of Paladin, you are still treated as scum by that turd Knight Rhys in Cambridge Police Station. There should be new dialogue after the promotion in where you can command him to lick the underside of your boots.

As far as other things are concerned, I hope the expansion does allow more factions, more dialogue paths, and more alternate storyline progression and endings (Fallout New Vegas style) as a result. FO4 was way too narrow and linear in that regard.

I kind of like the idea of some sort of vehicle. But on the other side, vehicles are no good in this environment. Just look at all the rubbish and wrecks on the road and towns, how could you drive vehicles there..?

I would like to see better control of the vertibirds instead. Just a simple feature like something to make the vertibird hover/circle over the destination until you command it to land, instead of the auto landing. This way the vertibird minigun could come to good use.

Brotherhood of Steel has cut content that make Danse the elder instead of Maxson. I kinda want them to implement it in the story.

I want Danse to be the elder, and more post ending storyline for all factions.

I wouldn't mind more companions interaction like Piper's interviews, Femshep's cage matches, Danse's overall dialogue fixes, etc.

I'd love for Bethesda to officially add vehicles to the game. It's rediculous that we have vehicles in the old fallouts but not in FO3 and FO4.

Dear Bethesda...please take our sole survivor to the MOON! Have like a scavenger company broadcasting across the Commonwealth that they're looking for a capable hired gun and the player follows them to some top secret government launching area, while digging around in the shuttle one of the scavers triggers the launch. The player finds that there in a government lunar base with a psychotic AI or some kind of robotic antagonist planning to invade earth and cleanse it, maybe it has a $#!+ ton of nukes or something. The player has to stop it by shutting down each base as they're scattered across the moon and you have to use some kind of augmented power armor designed for moon exploration or maybe a cool vehicle to drive around in. It would be cool to see something alien related too, like the remnants of the alien mother ship from fo3 and find some blasters or some kind of armor. And there has to be some kind of new laser weapon for lunar battles. Please consider it!

The Commonwealth is missing slavery. We need human slaves.

I guess one could make the case that the synths are the new slaves and that the institute are the new slavers. But that's still not the same as slavery.

Actually if you look at it, every single faction in Fallout 4 is humanitarian. Some may have evilish plans but their aim is to better the situation for people. In such a morally grey battle, I kind of miss the absolute evil that the slavers represented in Fallout 3.

I want to start my own faction (like that start your own guild mod in Skyrim).

I want NPCs to behave like how people would when they see a General of an army, Military Dictator, King, Living God, etc (would be nice to be able to configure the player's title), and not behave like the player's some no good Schmuck that'd do anything for a cap or two.

I want to be able to dictate where soldiers of my faction go, how many, and do what in whichever loadout I choose. (garrison owned settlement / start new settlement / loot place / kill raiders / kill settlers / kill supermutants / enslave settlers etc)

I want to be able to demand slaves/money/food/water etc from any place, whether the place is owned or not.

I want to be able to coerce people to join my faction as vassals or slaves. "Join or die".

I want a conquest mode where I can take over stuff by force, and then build my own stuff there.

I want to enslave people.

I want my slaves to clean the place up and not leave the rubble everywhere. After 2 centuries, NO ONE ever cleaned up? I will make them clean up and crack a whip when their hands slow down.

I want to have more vertibird action. And while we're at it, tanks as well.

I want to build reinforced concrete structures.

I want destructible structures.

I want the existing wood/steel structures to stop having so many holes in them.

I want to have walls with a window.

I want remote control companions, and unlimited companions at that.

I want followers not to continue being so dumb and force me to be their personal power armour technician and valet.

I want to be able to capture Brotherhood of Steel, Institute and Minuteman factions to make them my slaves.

I want to forget that Shaun ever exists (real alternate start, not a modded one).

Love this thread and agree with the extra options with Brotherhood of Steel post game. Im avoiding the main story just because all the options seem so mean with no way out. But overall loving the experience. I'm enjoying the settlement feature but would like to see more.

Pets, Robots, more things for the settlers to do and interact with. More props, more interactive things in the settlements more unique level 4 traders or guards. Make it seem more like a living town or give us more to do in town. I would LOVE to have a way to call raid on a town a pick how hard it is, greater the risk greater the reward. Maybe a new settlement with that feature put into the story? Love the army VS army feel.

Personally wanting clean walls and beds as a option lol.

For more suggestions Zetan Companion? Yes please.

How about a funny tiny alien or robot that takes over a animal of your choice with work of course. Ending up with the ability to get a death claw companion.

While vehicles would be nice, they aren't really needed. Unless you plan on doing a no fast travel game. The map just really isn't big enough, imo.

I would like to mold the minutemen in whatever form I like. I don't want them to be just angry farmers who only do things if something goes wrong. They should form an actual government with me als their leader because no one else in the minutemen does anything by themselves.

I want to be able to get some actual production going and transfer everything between settlements so it makes sense to produce a lot of water in sanctuary that then gets shiped to red rocket.

I want to clean up my settlements and the roads. And I want patrols in areas that are controlled by me.

I don't want to have to do everything myself. Settlements should be able to defend themselves if there is enough defence there.

I want some research to unlock new stuff and I want the ability to let certain factions share some technologies.

I want less radiant quests. 90% of all quests are fetch x or kill y without a proper and fun setup.

I want better indoor performance I get massive frame drops in the institute.

I want the vanilla option to mod all armor and headgear.

I want the abilty to craft gear and ammo from scratch.

I want to set up refilling containers.

I want to be treated as the leader of the minutemen by my own people.

I want story dlc to be set up in the normal world and not somewhere else.

I would like to destroy all the buildings in the settlements so I could truly start from scratch.

Allow me to actually move the workbench so I'm not forced to build around it or keep it close by.

Institute power armor, made from the armor of larger synths.

Deathclaw power armor, made from the hide of the deathclaw, or several deathclaws. Raiders have the worst cobbled together looking PA, I don't see why we can't do something similar but using "exotic" material. Have a quest where you actually assemble your own PA by looking for the components. Defeat "X" boss, receive leveled piece of equipment to mod, etc.

Better/more coordinated attacks from Raiders, Super Mutants on the settlements vs. the stragglers that attack once in a blue blue moon. Find piece of parchments/paper on body that states "This settlement has gotten too big and is encroaching on our territory, wipe them all out". Seriously, what is the point of building walls and other defenses if you rarely, if ever, get attacked?

Random Deathclaw spawning would be cool after a certain level (similar to dragons in Skyrim). You hear their "roar/stomp" and wham... a Deathclaw has awoken.

Deathclaw attack on your settlements... help defend from a Deathclaw attack would be far more challenging than what's attacked me so far.

The Institute is pristine in some area's, as well as another Vault... so why can't we build our base around that? I would like to have a building option to build something clean topside.

Protectron/Assaultron "guardians" for a settlement based on high science/gun nut perk. Locate a Protectron/Assaultron and have them patrol the streets of your settlement. Randomly after a radiation storm a Protectron/Assaultron would go haywire and start attacking the residents due to electrical interference.

A cool thing for a big dlc would be to replace the generic raiders with real factions/ gangs that compete with each other for territory, drugs, people to rob.

There could be a whole lot of sidequests where the player can help/ join some of them and makes them dominate the wasteland or fight them. This could also expand the minutemen/ settlement/ to a lesser extend the other faction gameplay.

Areas/ Locations could be become pacified/warified depending who is in controll or in some cases who is not in controll. The Corevega Factory for example could contain no/ few raiders after being and have only some animals/ ghouls or another nearby faction could have taken over. White Knight, Looting Survivors and Evil [censored]s can possibly get a whole lot of fun from that.

It really bothers me how faceless raiders are and that they are just some repeating background noise.

Two more thoughts. How about a quest to find milk of human kindness?

Also might be a stretch but settlement prisons? allowing people with high charisma to arrest certain human or synth boss enemies once they get down to a certain health rather than kill them.

Biggest want for me out of a expansion is more companions (still suggesting a Zetan!) and extra things to add replay value to the settlements. More things than just building have activities to make them more interactive and fun.

I agree. (Well, not that the Institute is humanitarian, but otherwise.)

I also think that they missed a bet by not then contrasting human slavery with the Institute. "Hey, synth labour is the answer to human slavery!" Makes the whole discussion even more complicated.

The commonwealth has all the slavery one could ever ask for (If someone would actually ask for it...) it's just not humans this time around. Of course people in the game make the argument that synths are human.

I can agree with this, in general, assuming doing so is sufficiently challenging. After all, it's a HUGE leap for the Brotherhood to allow the continued operation of the Institute: for them to do so would require that either they totally abandon their core beliefs or they themselves assume direct control of the Institute so that they can direct it according to their tenets. The former I would find distasteful, but the latter I could get behind. After all, if the director of the Institute is himself a high-ranking member of the Brotherhood of Steel, why not just rebrand the place as a branch of the Brotherhood and largely allow them to continue their operations? There would be dissent on both sides, of course, and the player would be tasked with "creating concencus" for the merger.

That could be the "brotherhood absorbs the intitute" option at least.

For the inverse, task the player with obtaining the DNA of various high-ranking brotherhood officials and replacing them one-by-one with synths. The Intitute needs competant agents on the surface, it seems wasteful to simply destroy the Brotherhood.
