What would you do to make Skyrim better?

Post » Sun Jun 22, 2014 8:25 am

If you had the power to add new content to make gameplay better for Skyrim what would it be?

Now, speaking in terms of my own opinion ((not that it really matters to anyone but myself)) I would like to see Bethesda add a special content package that allows for the console to make Skyrim a co-op game. I understand that there is an ElderScrolls Online for multiplayer, but I'm referring to having only one other person participate in the same game as you on the console with Skyrim. I think that it would be much more fun and enjoyable to play with someone on the console rather than on the computer (I speak mainly because I don't have a good enough computer to support gaming...and I like my PS3). Of course, the content would cost a small fee to download, but would be well worth it.

Before I get any hate comments on this thread, I already know that I'm dreaming and that it may be impossible to rewrite the game to work in co-op. However, this thread is mainly based on speculations and suggestions from all Skyrim fans. Even so, perhaps a following game that is much like Skyrim that can run as co-op. A sequel if you wish to call it that, but with co-play abilities on the console with online friends. That would be pretty awesome and totally worth the money spent. At least, it's my suggestive dream to see it work that way. Another thing, I did play ElderScrolls Online beta and it just wasn't the same. It didn't speak to me in the same way Skyrim did. Anyway, what are your ideals for better gameplay?

Sorry, but the Elder Scrolls Online is more than enough (ESO, in my opinion, was terrible, and a very good example of why the Elder Scrolls should NEVER be multiplayer).

Not so much new content, just better stability on PC thanks... no more random CTD or lockups... despite newish computer..

However, I have often dreamed of playing in co-op with a buddy, whereby they see the world only through there own characters eyes & ears and you can communicate with each other in real time @ random... just dreaming...lol... :)

I agree, ESO was terrible. However, what I was suggesting that Skyrim on console not look any different or do much different except to have an actual living being other than yourself roaming around on your game. For example, I have a person I would like to play Skyrim with to just roam around, complete missions, or battle it out with each other. I'm not interested in a mass player concept. Just a second player option available. Boarderlands 2 one can only progress so far. Skyrim, I don't feel as limited as it has scenery and free roam capabilities. Which, sometimes gets lonely. I like the graphics, and whatnot, but it's just lonely. I suppose I could just pick up and find a different game that allows co-op, but I've searched and haven't found anything near as interesting in the style of Skyrim, and multiplayer for the console. Maybe in few years something good will pop up. Until then, I'm just gonna keep dreaming.

I would remove regenerative health and only heal by eating food, bandaging up cuts or wounds, drinking healing potions, sleeping, using healing spells, and resting.

I would bring back armor and weapons degradation as well as being able to equip on the Player Character (PC) and NPC's different types of pieces of armor like pauldrons for shoulders, etc like in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

This is how I would fix The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Since I play the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PC I get these mods already. Would be nice not to have them as mods though but as official content.

How would you implement the other player interacting with the world?

Because there are so many ways it could go wrong in skyrim, infact I see no way it could be successfully done.

I wait for the day when PC version will need no unofficial patches, but I don't suppose that will ever happen. :P

At least you play on a platform that can be patched by users. I get depressed everytime I read the UESP bug reports.

That's the thing I would do if I could do anything... remove every glitch or unintended error in the game. I don't think it would revolutionize the experience, but it would be a major relief just to know that nothing could possibly go wrong.

I would make npc's reconise the player and you can only join like one guild at a time and to be guild leader you need to have accomplished sevarl harsh guild appropriate challenges. And also be able to pay people for services like alchemy enchanting and smithing.

Absolute no to any form of multiplayer. It will take away a lot of singleplayer experience. That's not an opinion, it's a fact.

And we already do have the power to add new content to Skyrim. They are called mods.

I'd make some tweaks to the magic system:

Destruction: adjust some perks and damage, remove impact. add spells like imbue weapon;

Conjuration: more daedric summons. corpses dont turn into ashes and have no time limit, but take exponentially more magicka to raise each time it dies;

Illusion: split the perks in two branches: Mind Control (Rally, command, fury, calm, paralyze) and Photomancy (light, chamaleon, invisibility, shapeshift, and a projectile that reduces effect of light sources);

Alteration: improve telekinesis and make it novice or adept, return open lock and levitate spells;

Restoration is fine.

General: add the option to equip a spell to the Z button and cast it oblivion style. Fortify school enchantments would now reduce magicka cost and increase magnitude, but at a very lower grade (no more 0% cost unless you use glitches).

Will edit if I think of anything else.

I don't actually think it's a bad idea. 8 person co-op can be fun, like in Diablo 2. I don't think there's any reason that can be said to as to why it wouldn't work. Just imagine boosting each other consatntly on the console or making the ultimate "PvP" chars. That would be so fun lol, or even just playing with the general idea that you might run into each other. The possibilities of such a mode are nearly limitless. I don't think it would require a lot of network code to make it work either.

As for what I would like to see in Skyrim? Completely radiant everything!

- Radiant NPC's

Like seen in the early oblivion gameplay videos. NPC's would be able to develop specific goals, and work towards them, based on their intrisic motivation value, that varies from person to person. NPC's no longer spawn out of nowhere, they either logically come outside the borders of Skyrim or are generated from inside the towns.

- Radiant stores

Similar to radiant AI, as these non-player characters travel the land, they can acquire a healthy amount of wares and sell items to NPC's according to their profession.

- Radiant economy, Dynamic Events, and Destructible Environments

Similar to the radiant stores and radiant AI, radiant economy allows towns to grow or shrink depending on the amount of business they receive, based on the actions of the player and the NPC's. If you end a Dragon threat in some town, that town might become bustling, and some other town might suffer business instead. If you don't help that town, that town might become eventually abandoned and destroyed in a Dragon attack. Other than that, towns with a weak economy would be particularly vulnerable to Dragon or Bandit attacks, and furthermore there would be a far greater chance that the bandits would target them. Sometimes, a bandit lord might kill everyone in town and make it a town of his, and strenghten it's fortifications, or, depending on his personality, might just retreat back to his lair instead, with all of the wares.

- Radiant factions

Radiant factions would be the next step in an attempt to make the world more interesting and realistic. Npc's can form factions at will, in addition to the existing ones. A bandit lord might make pact with another bandit lord, and if player has not progressed in the mainquest yet, a warring town in the civil war might decide to attack another imperial-infested town at random. Meanwhile, a group of peaceful orcs might just decide to group up and build a mine shaft for themselves, Khajiit might flee from the violence and temporarily set them around the borders of Skyrim, etc.

- Radiant towns & Constructible environments

As NPC's travel around the map looking for something to do, some NPC's might decide to settle down and become a farmer, innkeeper, blacksmith, or something of the sort. As these NPC's find a suitable spot for land, they will begin to accumulate and might sooner or later form large towns. Over time, they can become large, bustling cities, and the players actions can directly help shape the future of these towns as well.

- Removal of random events

With the addition of fully randomized AI and economy, the occasional vampire/etc attacks at certain locations would stop, in favour of completely dynamic ones. Battles between bandit lords should now happen commonly around Skyrim, as well as vampires dragging innocent townspeople into their lairs.

Eh I know, but I played Oblivion on ps3, what I mean is, I totally feel you consolers. I'd end up with Skyrim on ps3 too if not for the girlfriend's laptop and I'm insanely grateful for that.

First: Eliminate that format text button. :D

Then: For me, after hours and hours of play I would today enjoy a quick way to reset Skyrim. A day wait isn't so bad. A ten day wait is time consuming. The 30 day wait is cumbersome. I can clear a hold of game pretty quick, then it's wait - wait - wait - wait......

Then: Change the Command Animal power to a lesser power that can be used repeatedly instead of once a day. :devil:

Choice and consequence.

Spoiler
"I don't want the beast blood but I still want to be one of you guys!"

[the Circle tries to convince me]

"Nah, still not convinced."

"Fine, that's your choice. Go to sleep here. We will wake you up in the morning."

Just kidding. I agree with you

What would I do? Add that giant mudcrab to the game. It was epic.

There is only 1 thing that I would have liked to be different. and that is.... NPCS to give directions to or near the location of whatever. Then quest markers would not be needed.
