It could work, provided it wasn't half-assed/directed by Uwe Boll.

Actually theres nothing stopping them making a fallout movie not as if theres any special technology thats holding back making it, just who'd make it and write it and the storyline and actors, with the current flood of marvel comics films, and attempts at turning computer games into films, although i do like resident evil movies, devils tomb was a pathetic attempt at making jericho, prince of persia not so good, any of the attempt to take dnd and make it into a film was a real wrist slasher, supposedly sam raimi is making world of warcraft but thats been thrown about now for a fair while and very doubtful if that would even show up in a theatre, they were dedicated to making halo till microsoft/bungie shot it down they had peter jackson onboard who even made and excellent short just to see what they could without even trying. But basically it just comes down to whether they are really interested in doing something decent, it would actually be a decent film, and i cant see why nobody has really bothered pitching the idea, maybe its because they are to scared to show America blown to hell, but its not that it wouldnt fit with the way new enemy is portrayed since the soviet union is no longer the boogie man, and now its china or north korea so that would fit well.

I would watch it and then rage about how much it svcked on the forum.
I hardly believe they could produce a good Fallout film.
They'd stuff it full of VATS effects, explosions, mutants, six and other crap just to make it sell well.
And since Fallout isn't about "that" I could hardly consider that kinda film good.
And I'm sure that the protagonist is a pretty boy with a chip on his shoulder that meets a lovely girl that he has to rescue then finds himself and let's go of that chip on his shoulder and saves the day.
Or it's a girl protagonist who struggles against the male world constantly being put down by the others and has to prove herself as the man she loves dies and she learns a valuable lesson and turns into a badass who rolls into the sunset by the end of the film.

Blegh.
I would absolutely HATE a Fallout movie cause I don't think it could be done well.

I would love of fallout movie as long as it the story made sense and they had some traditional fallout stuff (pip-boy,vaults,nuka-cola,Etc.) but anyways i do hope they make a Fallout movie one day

If they do make a movie then they should use the plot from the first game and not change it around. Then if they wanted to make a sequel then they could use Fallout 2 then New Vegas. Mainly because fallout 3 wouldn't fit in too much

What I fear with the writing is that they would likely force everything down at once just so it can include as much Fallout stuff as possible.
Like, the movie has to deal with super mutants, enclave, brotherhood, NCR, nuka cola, west-tek, FEV, ghouls, deathclaws et cetera.
Would make the film jump from thing to thing and just feel very cheap.
If they could do a movie and stick to one subject only for the purpose of that story then it could work out.
But I think they would force everything remotely related to Fallout in the film.
Which would just make it seem cramped up in references and crap.

Why though?
It'd be better to expand on the lore and universe of Fallout by doing something new instead of rehashing something already done.

I'd go see it. And then presumably end up [censored]ing about it online.

I was thinking that but the way movie makers are no good ideas anymore except for Quentin Tarantino so they'd just [censored] it to the caliber of Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel

There are a few, but I doubt Bethesda would find a good one, if even Bethesda is allowed to have much of a say in the making of the film.
Still, I wouldn't really see a point to a Fallout 1 film.
Hell, they'd probably [censored] up the lore, characters, locations, weapons and story anyway.
Nah, I'm pretty against a film what so ever.
An RPG game can't be turned into a film and a film can't be turned into an RPG.
The result will be [censored]. :(

A television series on the other hand... That could work...
Probably HBO.

Of course its the fear that it would be a cheap movie. thats the trend with videogame movies.

but.. what if they were to get someone that would treat it as a trilogy?
As an epic, instead of a matinee feature, thats come out just in time for spring break.

It would be a flaw to base it directly on the games events.. the protagonists and their motivations would need to be new.
The set up for factions could be done in a way thats not cheap, but gives a great backstory on how they came to be. how the world came to be how it was. maybe the first half hour of the first movie.
i cant express how much i feel It would have to be a new protagonist, because youd have people doing their own adaptation of fallout quest events, otherwise.
Why even worry about how that will translate tot he screen?

It woul d have to be a movie that was made to be a great movie- as art; and not just as a new media to exploit the money making possibilities of the franchise.

It would be awesome!

So long as they did not try to cram too much in, lol.

If the made it like a game story but modified to a movie it would be cool.

The Resident Evil films have a good way of doing their stories.

It is like the game in important details. But diferent and not strictly the same stories.

And it works.

They could make a series. Fallout series has a lot of potenial.

They could make a original plot that was still fallout or make them from the game stories.

Something new would be good.

snip

If you are using the Resident Evil films as a basis of a good videogame movie then I have to disagree, all of them are absolutely horrible. Besides the newest one I saw all of them in the theater in hopes they wouldn't take a massive dump on one of my favorite franchises. But a massive dump is what they did.

But more to the point, I'd rather there be a miniseries then a Fallout movie. That way they could take their time and not cram everything they can into a two hour movie.

huh.. i would like to see any examples that people might have of a game making a good movie..

I cantt hink of a single one, which is why i am saying that it if a fallout movie was made, it shouldnt be based off of in game events beyond the extent of the setting/ theme elements.

Could Nuka Break be considered canon?
I know it's not an official release but I see no contradictions with lore really and it's a very nice quality short film.

Never played a Prince Of Persia game so I thought the movie was okay for being a Hollywood hype flick.

i wondered about edens voice being on the west coast.. not really a contradiction, given that we dont know the timeframe, or the distance that the eyebot can recieve msgs from, just didnt seem t fit.

I think that one probably has the best gouhl characters of any of the fan flicks ive seen though.. .

My short term memory right now is a mess but didn't the characters mention Legion, Reno, New Vegas and Talon Company?
Talon Company can't be "that" far out to the east so it has to be closer to the Arizona border me thinks.
Wonder what a halfassed merchant from Reno is doing there though.
