What Would You Want to Hear More About Involving Brink?

Post » Thu Apr 29, 2010 7:57 am

It's obvious to anyone who has been a part of this community for a while that we our definitely in a lull due to lack of information. So in the next wave of information we get what would you want to see info on? I personally want to see more on the environments since we so far have seen 2 (I think) in depth.

I'm with you on the environments. The Ark just intrigues me so much. I'm still think there is going to be an overgrown area or at least a biodome type thing. Where else would they find food?

I want more on the specifics of SMART movement, such as the direct differences between light and heavy, and examples of such.

The way they have put it is quite simple. Heavy is limited to climbing over things that are at waist height, medium can climb over anything at eye level, and light can climb up to about 15'. You can climb higher if you jump first.

Well, I'm more interested in the way it looks, like the exact dynamics are great and such, but I can't exactly imagine it completely yet. But thanks for the info.

Ah, in that case, the best I can offer you is the footage that they shot to base the parkour off of.
http://www.facebook.com/parkourtour

Daniel Ilabaca is a freerunner, so hes more concerned with style than moving as efficently as possible, so dont expect to see so many flips and whatnot in the game. But you can expect to see the more functional moves to be taken directly from the footage, mantling, jumping, and climbing.

Abilities (please don't call it perks, perks svck, abilities don't if you know what I mean ;) )

Nice to see someone trying to get constructive feedback, instead of guessing for a release date or begging for info.
On a sidenote: These topics didn't work up until now, and I guess it will remain this way untill SD decides to start leaking info. (Other attempts at topics like this failed pretty much)

Character customization. Most people seem to be forgetting that it involves more than your looks.

What the weather will be like, on the release day? :)

I would like to know sth about demo and involving gameplay experience. Atmosphere of the game, fluidness of movement and some peudo-technical info in matter of networking and everything that is important for FPS and lag-free gaming in this category. Also very important is whether or not Bring will include strong anti-cheating solutions, like blocking of input by non-hardware "mouse", something to irritate developers of the fast aimbots, maybe variations ;-)? And whether or not there will be always the same red arrow above enemy's head...

SD can also provide some active anti-cheat policy, like publishing aimbots that would make someones copy of the game not legal nor working(after month or two, so more cheaters will go that way), somehow. Or change key parts of code from time to time, switch from OpenGL to DirectX for example, or smaller things.

Summa summarum: Anti-cheating policy, maps, objectives and gameplay experience including how much teamplay there actually is - because buffing sb's gun or revives are not really teamplay, it has nothing to do with encouraging ppl to play as a team, coordinate, talk to each other so keep communication efficient. Thats it.

Involving the anti-cheat system I believe they are using Valve-Anti Cheat. Although I kinda have a wish someone would use this servers idea against cheaters. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYSMrA3J9tU

Valve anti cheat is awesome...someone develops a hack, VAC detects it and lets Valve know. The person tells his friends how to do the hack and cheat. Their friends tell their friends. Then, when a ton of people are hacking...Valve bans them all. Talk about banhammer.

I want to know more about mod support and dedicated servers, and whether things like custom maps will be possible.

I really hope this gets some good mod support and dedicated servers. The developers used to be an independent studio, so it'd be a disgrace if they screwed over PC gamers.

All about customisation basicly.

Oh, and it's System requirements for PC rather than CPU requirements. Even though I'd laugh if SD released the CPU-requirement for the game only, now.

Video looks great :). But how to apply that to all of the servers and make it run automatically without mistakes irritating innocent ppl? Especially how to make it run on ranked servers?
About VAC I leaved CS:S servers many times, because of sb obviously cheating(I know they say they wait for more cheaters to catch)... It's horrible that it's so easy to write an aimbot for such games... It's like disappearing cryptography for now, why don't move forward to pure cryptography problems anology? Meaning, cheat developer may know technical barriers but still not be able to easily write a cheat-program so it works with any installation of the game, or even with every run of the game, map, respawn, minute ]:-)...
That software would have to change it's behavior and methods depending on the changing game output type. It would probably make most ppl resign from continuing development. And if final aimbot is working on developers PC but on other account/installation some things would be different -> incompatible with well aiming bot on the other PC, then many ppl would download soft and got it not working at all, and at least changing they games account by adding huge, red caption "CHEATER" visible on their back for forever. :P

Here let me get my magic crystal ball....Whoops I dropped it. Now we will never know.

What do you mean saying "never"? :) But thats possibly true, go, buy & play - who cares about the weather, and in-game weather will probably be always the same on each map(?).

Custom maps are really important thing, there should be well designed editor for that - SD may tell us something more about it.

Any type of clans support

Well, it might make you happy to know that they have confirmed clan support, but haven't released any details, since the last news on it was that "we are starting to work on clan support". That was a few weeks ago.

I voted for SMART. Mainly because i want to know if I HAVE to use the SMART system. The system is a great idea, and will probably work amazing, but i like that satisfaction of being like 'YES! i made that jump finally all by myself.' but with the SMART system you wont experience that feeling, imo. If you dont have to use the system then i vote for Perks. Because i already know everything i want to know about the weapons, the levels arent a big deal to me; as with the plot for right now. CPU doesnt apply to me (Xbox) and no matter what the release date is, its not going to change how fast its going to come. It will be released when its finished!
