What would you do with the Blades?

Post » Tue Sep 22, 2015 8:58 am

Ever since Morrowind I haven't liked the Blades, now they are a mere shadow of what they used to be, their time has come to an end, which is made even more obvious by the fact that they try to command the Dragonborn of all people... If it were not for Paarthurnax, Skyrim, hell maybe even Nirn, would not be as it is today to be honest. He is the only one who truly understands the blood that flows through you, the will to dominate and destroy is strong, only through practicing the Way of the Voice are you able to control your abilities, something the Blades could never understand. He has more than atoned for what he did so very long ago. Besides, who are they to judge when they themselves have probably committed atrocities. Hell, even the Dragonborn is no innocent, should he/she be killed too?

This. If the game gave you the option of killing the Blades, I would do it, not with a sword, but by bludgeoning them to death with a lyre set on fire by the best Redguard bard.

The Greybeards however, do still have some relevance. They can train more users of the Voice. The Dragonborn doesn't learn the way "normal" people do; he or she can't really teach anyone how to use a Shout. The Greybeards can. If the Way of the Voice isn't going to die out, the Greybeards are needed.

Whether to follow their philosophy is up to the student.

Never liked the Blades in Skyrim. And in my current playthrough Delphine isn't essential (only protected) so I'll probably Fus Ro Dah her somewhere dangerous.

I would disband them, a new order should be founded to address the newer issues of the world rather than stay so rigidly focused on a failed order.

It didn't, Alduin was defeated so no need to assume it ended.

But if you take the fact that the main character is the Last dragonborn in consideration...

I LOVED the Blades in Morrowind and especially in Oblivion. I thought they were the best faction/group in the game. In skyrim? i would tell Delphine to go die in a ditch and remake the Blades as they once were, a proud group of warriors and spys.. scratch that, i would make them like the Grey Wardens, except without the whole drinking demon blood part.

Esbern i would keep if he was willing and would actually listen to me, since he is a living history book.

I might do the same. Just without the Akaviri looks and instead more like typical medieval knights.

EDIT: Okay, apparently, they caused the destruction of a Bosmer town. Meaning they jumped from bodyguards to terrorists. Screw it. I'll kill them all.

Maybe it meant that the main character is the Last Dragonborn....IF he/she failed to defeat Alduin. This could mean that there may end up being another Dragonborn. Remember what the Greybeards said about Alduin possibly returning again. For all we know....a Dragonborn is actually meant to be exist every time Alduin returns....solely to continue to let the world exist.

Where did you get that information? I did see that an Aldmeri ambassador delivered the heads of every Blade in Summerset Isle and Valenwood to Titus Mede II. Its what started the War, but I don't remember seeing anything about the Blades destroying a bosmer town.

A guy in the Skyrim Nexus told me that it's from the Thalmor Archives.

If its at the Nexus, then its probably a mod. I don't know of anything in the game like that.

Okay. I was just wondering where to find that information in the game. I've never run across it. Granted, i do tend to kill most Thalmor as I come across them in the game, but I dont' remember any Thalmor archives. Of course it could be my [lack of] memory, too. I haven't played Skyrim in a while.

I have never seen this, and i have cleaned out every Thalmor base in Skyrim several times over. There is no "thalmor archives" in the game. Either he is lieing or it is from a mod.

Anyway, I sent him a PM on the matter. Maybe we'll get some answers. But then again, you have to consider that they covertly fought the Thalmor before a lot of them got beheaded and delivered to Titus. Chances are, attacking a Bosmer town could be part of those activities.

I'd take out all the dragons and the Greybeards too. The Greybeards being what happens to those who follow dragons being all I need to know.
