Well... I can shoot, so I'd probably go find myself a decent rifle and spend my days hunting geckoes around Goodsprings.

I've got the training and several years history spent in a hotter than hell desert, so I'd probably join up with the NCR as a Ranger. . . or just a Trooper. Maybe become cynically disillusioned like Boone?

Well, I do know how to shoot, and some meager survival skills. I would attempt to...live I guess. It depends on where I am. If I'm on the west coast, then I would attempt to integrate into one of the many towns. (Assuming I'm not immediately killed by one of the many horrors of the wasteland)

If I woke up in the Capital Wasteland, I would probably just poop myself and cry a lot.

Well I'd go to Jacobstown and look to study under Doctor Henry or Calamity. Once my training is complete, I'd hope to find, capture or
restrain viable deathclaw test subjects, exposing them to FEV in a similar manner to the enclave. Giving them free shelter in charleston
cave or if they wanted, Jacobstown, once brought to sentience. After completion of all of this, I would probably just settle down in the town.

Could raise a herd of bighorners or two. Might even look to help rehabilitate some of the locals into civilised life.. but only if they don't bite.

I would agree to help the powder gangers take over Goodsprings and then promptly kill them. Then repeatedly shake down the general store for 9mm ammo and leather. Cause you never know how much leather your gonna need. LOL

Seriously get rifle, scavenge for holotape music, and restart Lonewolf radio!

I am amused. At how nobody whatsoever from the Caesar's Legion-loving camp is popping up to say how they'd be making a beeline for the legion fort to volunteer to be a skirt-wearing, machete-weilding, NCR-machinegun-charging cannonfodder recruit? Where's the loyalty, boys??

Hehe. All fine and dandy when yer sitting behind your computer warping philosophy to claim how grand and wonderful and altruistic it would be to be Legion... yet when the rubber hits the road, and you face the thought of actually having to BE one of those crazy kilted asshats, without any magical 'courier' superpowers, and with a machete and the Legate standing behind you saying charge those fortifications or die... ayeah. Quite another story.

That's when the low, mean, viscious and extremely undesireable reality of life in the Legion would hit home. "Um, I don't want to be a legion soldier..." Sorry, it's that, or slavery, or death. Choose now, please. "Um, I've been fighting now for years, I think I'll muster out of the legion now and go raise beans or be a layabout..." Sorry, the only retirement plan the Legion has, is death. Carry on...

If it was your real-life ass on the line, you'd all be running screaming to Vegas, California, or some other decidedly UN-Legion part of the west. Mwuhahahahahahaaaa!!!

I don't think my legs would look very good in a skirt 8(

And on the Legion fan camp, I guess I haven't seen many around. It seems to be pretty even with House/Indy to NCR fans... with a slight towards the former. Some agree with Caeser ideology but I don't think they necessarly agree with the mannerisms. And you did bring up a good point, it is like Boone said, "Waiting for Death"

It's one thing to fantasize about how something is all great and wonderful and the best this or that or whatever... it's another thing entirely to contemplate having to put your own pecker on the chopping block, if you were really there. Internet armchair philosophers crack me up.

If I woke up in the wastes, the only thing I would be able to do is sob hysterically. I have no survival skills whatsoever, so I would probably try to live my life in Goodsprings. If that didn't work out, a bullet to the brain would be my next option.

Awesome post.

I've never supported the Legion, and even on my just finished Legion character, I didn't really connect with it. But you're right, its easy to praise the Legion's philosophy in the safety in your own home, but the reality would be very different. Perhaps this is why fascist dictatorships don't stick around for very long? Perhaps.

I would stay in Goodsprings and train myself to fight until I was really good and then I would may a slow journey toward New Vegas saving up my caps so I could live in the security of the Strip and spend the rest of my days getting the Lucky 38 up and running so I could make my millions and live in comfort.

Yeah, not many people on here are professional soldiers. Your point's rather non-existant really. I wouldn't try and join the Enclave either so I guess I'm some kind of flaming hypocrit. So of course the majority of people would run for Vegas, in-fact the majority of people admitted that they would, of course, be terrified.

There's nothing wrong with being an "internet armchair philosopher" because we aren't in the Fallout universe, we can look at the universe as a whole and decide what would or would not be best. Arguing for the NCR is being an "internet armchair philosophers". You're point is non-sensical.

I guess you'd go and join the NCR right away for the crap food, in-effectiveness because you're so determined to bring democracy and freedom to the masses; remember if you don't want to be frontline infanry you're a [censored] armchair [censored].

LOL! At least you have the honesty to admit the Legion would really svck to be a part of, if they actually existed and you were forced to make a choice to join them or not. Funny thing is, you could run to vegas, or the NCR side, or any non-Legion location, and still do what you wanted to. You wouldn't HAVE to be a soldier, you still could choose your own destiny. Which you can't, if you have the misfortune to end up in Legion territory. Soldier (slave soldier, in reality), or 'regular' slave, or dead. No other options. I didn't say any of you were real-life trained soldiers (though some probably are), and I wasn't in any way inferring that runninig for the NCR side of the fence meant you had to be a raving NCR fanatic and join their army. Because, the whole point is, the NCR and other non-legion sides are _the_side_of_freedom_and_choice_. The Legion is not. They are fascist killer-slavers, and you would have no choice of what you wanted to do, if they got their hands on you. The NCR at least still gives you the option to grow beans or wander around and hunt or scavenge stuff to sell, or hide out in the walls of some town in safety and be a janitor or a merchant or a courier or whatever you might want to do, or be capable of doing. You aren't forced into anything. And despite their completely silly pro-Legion armchair quarterbacking, underneath those peope do completely realize how totally wrong the whole legion BS thing is, and would be wrong in any dimension or reality- and they would indeed run screaming away in any other direction, if they were magically plopped down into that reality. End of story.

I know the Legion svck and I cannot fathom why anyone would support them, everyone's a brainwashed slave in the Legion - you're probably doing the soldiers a favour by killing them seeing as how they've had little choice in their upbringing.

But as a defender of a pretty radical viewpoint myself I'm not going to tell them that they are wrong, try and prove perhaps - maybe I'll just give up because I don't get their viewpoint.

@R.J. I was being sarcastic, I'm one of the precious few people who seems to remember the NCR's huge conspiracy in Fallout 2.

My point exactly. Wan't necessarily referring to you, but to some of the true die-hards on here who in the past have bitterly defended the Legion and it's atrocities in the game, in the name of some twisted philosophical babblings.
