Sorry bro, I'm a House man through and through.
You know i was once like you (damn i think i have said that to about every person on this forum by now) a house fanatic. He promised me great things, a piece of the action, but what did i get? a crappy ending thats what, so now im going Indy, [censored] whatever rules the NCR can throw at me, and whatever legionery the Legion can throw at me. And as for your house, he is dead.

Maybe to you, but I'll back the man with autorepairing God-Mode robots over the fleshy footsoldier with a dinky rifle. :P

Yeah whatever you say. The courier could easily kill anything, even your/mine god mode robots. I picked Indy so i also got some of those (by some i mean a whole [censored] army)

Realistically, I doubt the Courier would manage the feats he pulls via the gameplay exploits and tricks. Realistically, it'd be insane to side with a bureaucratic mess and a misogynist slaver army when a Pre-War genius gives you comfort, ease, and luxury all for being his protege.

Now now, let's not turn this into a generic 'which faction is better' topic. There have been a thousand of those, but significantly fewer topics like this one.

The thing that I think distinguishes this situation from the ordinary playthrough is that you're not choosing who should rule the Mojave from the position of nigh-unkillable ultra-charismatic character. You're just deciding which regime you personally would prefer to live in.

Which is why I'm running for California: safety and stability, high technology level, state support of science, democracy - I'm pretty into those things. Going over to Caesar isn't going to work unless you like being on the front lines with a machete. Going over to House is a problematic proposition because House doesn't even want you until after you've done something to make yourself extremely important - until then you're either another squatter sitting in Freeside or another svcker gambling money away at the Strip.

It's still pretty much on topic. I wouldn't mind going to the NCR. As a civilian not a soldier. But hey, if drafted I will proudly serve.

No, for patriotic means. Its not insane to side with NCR in real life, as in real life you probably wouldnt be offered to be houses right hand man.

No combat, weapons, or survival training in a place I've never been to, against enemies and animals I know nothing about. I'd be boned

If I woke up in the wastes, the only thing I would be able to do is sob hysterically. I have no survival skills whatsoever, so I would probably try to live my life in Goodsprings. If that didn't work out, a bullet to the brain would be my next option.
Hey, if you're going to die anyway, might as well try to reach Vegas in the process, right?

Just ride the gravy train of mediocrity.

I am amused. At how nobody whatsoever from the Caesar's Legion-loving camp is popping up to say how they'd be making a beeline for the legion fort to volunteer to be a skirt-wearing, machete-weilding, NCR-machinegun-charging cannonfodder recruit? Where's the loyalty, boys??

Hehe. All fine and dandy when yer sitting behind your computer warping philosophy to claim how grand and wonderful and altruistic it would be to be Legion... yet when the rubber hits the road, and you face the thought of actually having to BE one of those crazy kilted asshats, without any magical 'courier' superpowers, and with a machete and the Legate standing behind you saying charge those fortifications or die... ayeah. Quite another story.

That's when the low, mean, viscious and extremely undesireable reality of life in the Legion would hit home. "Um, I don't want to be a legion soldier..." Sorry, it's that, or slavery, or death. Choose now, please. "Um, I've been fighting now for years, I think I'll muster out of the legion now and go raise beans or be a layabout..." Sorry, the only retirement plan the Legion has, is death. Carry on...

If it was your real-life ass on the line, you'd all be running screaming to Vegas, California, or some other decidedly UN-Legion part of the west. Mwuhahahahahahaaaa!!!
The thing is, most legion are integrated unwillingly. To be honest, it would be hard to approach the Legion. How do you join those such as the Legion? Join a tribe and wait for it to be integrated? The point for the Legion is not that we want to be them. We just think there way of life will make humanity stronger if that makes any sense.

With military Marksman training already, i'd probably get me a sniper rifle and join the NCR as a marksman. Either that or become a raider, i seem to lack morals.

Well.... I would tame a deathclaw and begin my work towards ruling the wastes.

I would first obtain my deathclaw with a nice piece of meat luring it into a trap (molerat)

I would jump on the beast and claim it, smacking it on the head to show it my appreciation and me owning it.

Next we destroy the nearest town and loot it, my deathclaw probably getting very injured, so i would use stimpacks i find on it.

Afterwords, we loot all we can and take over the next town. Rinse and repeat until we make it to a major city.

1. Go through several stages of denial.

2. Inevitably realize I will die in this place.

3. Learn to shoot better.

4. Barter slippers for food and/or water.

5. Get a gun.

6. Find a hat.

7. Do some odd jobs, probably work as a courier or something.

8. Save up for property at a reasonable settlement (Goodsprings perhaps).

9. Get a permanent job.

10. Start farming.

11. Find someone to share life with.

12. Work work work...

13. Have kids.

14. Teach children how to survive.

15. Die happy.

All in 15 steps! Act now and you get Deathclaw Insurance!

Seriously though, I suspect somewhere between #7 and #9 I'll get mauled by a Deathclaw.

If you wouldn't be willing to be a part of it if you were actually thrust into that 'reality', then it's probably a safe bet it isn't really good for anything but the murdering, r a p e and slaving that is their way of life. They're just better organized raiders, and that's all. Sure as hell not any great hope for humanity.

You could do what Lanius did. Kill the members of your tribe because they were too weak. Caesar seems to love this for some reason.
