What would be your perfect ending?

Post » Wed Feb 02, 2011 12:02 am

It has been stated that you will be able to play after the ending. For this to be true they need a fairy epic and lasting ending. I want people to recognize me as the savior once I am finished.

What would be your perfect ending? Please describe in detail. I would like to end surrounded by a pack of dragons, and then be given a super dragon shout by the gods. I would then scream and obliterate the dragons around me. It would then give me the option of harvesting the dragon scales and making dragon male (the best amour in the game) .

I hate your ending. No boss fight? T_T

My perfect ending? I don't really have one, if I did, I would be all BLAH about the ending not being my way.

So you don't even defeat Alduin in the end? My perfect ending is probably going to involve killing Alduin.

Anything but an epicly massive battle on an open field where I can slash through literally dozens of enemies and then take out my primary opponent in a one on one duel to the death with an epic ending kill sequence disappoints me.

Perfect ending, walking off into the mountains tbh.
A couple of Dunmer maidens, some lettuce and several spells from a certain school of magic would be nice as well however... hint, hint Devs.

However if there's a required boss fight that can't be avoided..
I'll throw a hissy turn green and orcy, swear as I punch in TGM, swear even more as I just button bash, swear some more, rant on here, swear some more..
Another perfectly typical ending of RPG's for me.

Wow. Really? I'm just the opposite...after what passed for endings in the last two TES games, I'm itching for a good stereotypically-RPG-cliche boss fight. Even a half-assed one would be better than running laps around Dagoth Ur to engage The Tell-Tale Heart in combat.

Different strokes I reckon... :)

A perfect ending for me would require a perfect story. But "perfect" aside, the way the story is told substantially effects the ending. I didn't like Mass Effect 2's flamboyant ending and I'll leave it at that for those who haven't played it, but for those of you who know what I'm talking about I really hope Elder Scrolls doesn't do that.

The ending could be really simple, no boss fight or anything for me as long as the story getting there was good. A story of courage and strength. Maybe make subtle choices suddenly culminate in large happenings in the end.

I don't really have good input on this since the question is really vague. I'm more interested in the question: What is your [well made game] story?

My character finally made a custom spell.
Oh wait, thats not right...

Im going to take a guess and say we won't be killing Alduin. Why? It feels like what you are supposed to do. Besides, banishing him away would make it suspiciously familiar to what Zeus did to Chronos...
But im sure killing him would be fun too. Destroying the god of time? Shouldn't that cause some sort of paradox and end the world? *chuckles*

Lol I know, my stroke tends towards casual.
Most rpg's I've faced that use bosses and mods for ones like Oblivion tend to create god like bosses.
If you play in a style where you don't power game yourself, and create weaknesses for your character.
It just feels silly to have to constantly face such fights with no options to avoid or work around them.
I love OOO for oblivion but the specific fights in those, are not for a gimped player character.
The bosses and minions tend to be great at everything.
If Skyrim goes heavily for this in the vanilla version, I may just drop it tbh.

Also I loved the BG series where you faced the same bosses again and again, constantly besting them only for them to pop up again stronger.

I would like the final confrontation to be resolved by a game of beer pong! The loser gets a massive hangover and I get to sit by his bed with a stereo blasting Metallica while the main antagonist writhes in agony...

Where we don't at first fight Alduin but instead of a big talk about why what he is doing is needed and after a lengthy discussion with him you are presented with a choice and if refused go into a great battle with Alduin. However before killing him or agreeing to his terms where a major revelation is made. A revelation that reveals that there is something more powerful and worse then Alduin itself that will come to threaten all the planes of existance including Nirn and the deadric planes, of course this may all be a lie to convence you to join him in a grand xanatos gambit as a chess master or may very well by the truth. This being decided in the next game if Alduin is indeed fleeing from something much worse then he/she/it.

Basically a good long chat with Alduin before being presented with a choice that may involve fighting him or joining him believing what may only be a half truth.

After a massive battle of epic proportions with Alduin (taking much longer to kill than Mankar Camoran), I walk over to the dragon's dying body and cut his head off, which I will proudly display above my fireplace. I then proceed to make my own armor out of his scales.

After much politicking and debate as Dovahkiin systematically and mercilessly slaughters each of Alduin's minion, the gods agree that Alduin and Dovahkiin must fight in mortal combat. Dovahkiin wins (duh), and is offered a choice on whether to take Alduin's place and become some sort of god, or to stay in Skyrim and dike around with monsters and make fun of Bosmer and stuff.

Most people here arn't going to get that, but if Carlsburg did beer... it would... oh wait.

Perfect ending? Not having a "true" ending so I can carry on playing. Damn you Fallout 3!

I've always thought of The Elder Scrolls as like that song from Lambchop. Sing along with me, now!

This is the song that doesn't end
Yes it goes on and on, my friend
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it forever just because

Repeat ad nauseam.
Hm, I wonder how many of us will get it stuck in our heads now?

An epic fight atop the The Throat of the World.

As I fight Alduin he summons forth all of his lesser dragon minions that were never slain, and as they descend on High Hrothgar, the Greybeards emerge to combat the dragon minions (in their true dragon form of course). But even the mighty dragonborn cannot stand against the dreaded Alduin. Alduin, aware of his inevitable victory, begins to taunt me, mocking how easily he deceived man into its own doom. Alduin mocks the Septim bloodline and how he used them all in order to bring about the destruction of Nirn. With this, Alduin delivers the final blow and the player is sent flying backwards.

As the life is drained from the player's body everything turns blurry and the image of a man is seen forming in the distance. The figure comes closer, and as everything goes dark, the identity of the man is discovered. Martin Septim, the last Septim, is hovering over the player, and as he stares at you silently, the entire line of Septims materializes behind him like wisps of smoke. They all begin to chant, commanding their formidable Thu'um in unison. Martin pulls the player up, back to Nirn, and as the player charges back towards Alduin all that can be heard is the thundering echo of the last call of the Septims.

An army of man and mer is seen at the base of the mountain, their booming horns joining in with the shouts. But the very presence of Alduin, invigorated by his proximity to success, deters them from ascending to the peak. The battle continues, and as the player is about to finish off Alduin, Esbern stops him (or her). He explains that the existence of Alduin is a necessary evil and his destruction would be a catastrophe. Instead of killing Alduin, the player joins in the chant of the Septims and banishes the spirit of the Alduin from Nirn permanently, leaving the spoils of his magnificent corpse behind.

Once again the spectral image of the Septim bloodline appears and encircles you. They all draw katanas and raise them to the sky as they finish their chant. Their ghosts merge and swirl around you and shoot towards up at the sky in a beam of light. As you recover from the blinding flash you see the army (that didn't do [censored] to help) around you, covering the slopes of High Hrothgar and the land surrounding the mountain. Esbern is closest to you and he kneels before you. The army follows suit and kneels before you. They begin to chant the chant song thing from the teaser trailer, and the camera zooms out for the credits like it did in Oblivion.

So Alduin has has a general dragon to lead his dragon armies as he prepares to destroy the world. At the peak of the throat of the world you will face down this dragon for the last of the dragon shouts or whatever you get for slaying them. When you win against the final boss of the game, you have to protect the graybeards as they begin the ritual to banish Alduin. at the conclusion, the player is treated to a cutscene where the player charater will finish the ritual with a dragon shout just learned from the boss and Alduin is gone forever. Then some crappy monalog will play about your sheer amount of awesome.

Its fantastic if you ask me!

Dovahkiin meets Alduin, face to face. "World-Eater!!" Dovahkiin cries out. "You shall eat not the world on this day, but if you must devour something: TASTE MY BLADE!!" Dovahkiin and Alduin fight. It's super amazing, blah blah blah.

Now Dovahkiin stands over a dying Alduin, both are wounded. Alduin looks to the Dovahkiin and says, "You . . . you are Dovahkiin. But who are you?"

Dovahkiin replies to Alduin, in a powerful and bold voice, "I'm the son of rage and love. The Jesus of Suburbia." With that, Dovahkiin plunges his sword into the throat of the World-Eater, ending the threat once and for all.

"Alduin" was just a giant pinata (probably spelled that wrong) being "flown" through the air like a kite by Sheogorath as his first prank of office. The final "battle" ends with the player breaking open the pinata at which point clones of the adoring fan fall endlessly upon High Hrothgar.

id like my character to utterly fail.......for continuity's sake id like to see the lazy high level guards all over the place gang up on alduin and slice him to pieces. im actually serious, one of the best video game endings ever was eco draconis.......i almost laughed myself off of my chair. :)

a bit OT the best movie ending ever was the mist.
