Whats wrong with Fable?

Peter Molyneux

He expresses features that never make it into the games and goes overboard with those that do or completely gets them wrong. The "Sanctuary" in Fable III is a good example of "What NOT to do" in a videogame. It is completely unnecessary and very time consuming.

Or adding completely ridiculous or unnecessary features like putting wings on your character or making you hold hands with someone and he acts like its some revolutionary step forward in the history of RPGs. I think someone at lionhead needs to step up and slap Peter in the face every now and then and tell him "Peter, you're being stupid again, nobody cares if you can hold hands with people or grow wings."

I've been playing Fable 3 and I've got to say, the graphics aren't that good. But, I don't care as long as the story is good and I've got to say. I don't really understand Fable 3's story. Camera angle is kind of weird, weapon mechanics are kind of weird. Magic system is odd as well. And the game mechanics itself are slightly off as well. But, I'm not that far into the game so it may get better?

It's already been stated, what is the point of holding someone's hand?

Don't count on it getting better.

And there is no point to hand holding really, its supposed to make you feel like you have a "connection" to people.

Yeah, you have a connection to people when you're dragging them somewhere. Seriously, that's what it looks like. Maybe if they had the person beside you, it would feel fine, but it looks like they don't want to be following you.

So where does all this negativitiy come from now? What is so wrong with Fable III? I will not get it because it has guns. For me, that doesn't appeal to me at all. But why do you not like Fable II or III?

I think in part, around Fable II it was just Molyneux talking crap about how this and that was going to be a feature, but wasn't. How decisions here and there would have an amazing impact on the world and its occupants, how you can care more about an NPC if you're married to it, and your sole means of communication with your spouse is farting and dancing and going, "Ha hah!" About how the dog makes you love Smurfs, and clouds make for better sustenance than your minimum "Five A Day" fruit and veg intake. About how introducing firearms and playing down swordplay can make your love nodes expand, about how casting spells while moving is a no-no and about how accessing a mini-map svcks next to having a glitchy trail that you can't turn off.

Watch the Zer0 Punctuation reviews for all the Fables over at The Escapist for a good idea as to why what was originally a great game, got Molyneux'd unto death. The http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/2652-Fable-3 (<- link) review. Which I think is utterly fair. :tops:

i liked the second one, way more than the first. The second was cool with the guns, it made it unique. The graphics were great, cartoony sure, but it works. i haven't played the third one, and i probably won't till it hits teh bargain bin. Its not really made for the hardcoe rpg person, its a casual game, its not supposed to be deep.

Also how awesome was that dog? I didn't care about the marriage crap or the kids that never grow up, infact i didn't really care about any of the npcs.
