Freezing, Bugs, and Glitches

It's ok if a particular NPC forgets to sleep but not anything else. I don't want a Greybeard falling down a mountain because his AI mistakenly wrote for him to go sleep at Riverwood instead of where he normally was suppose to sleep. Also game freezes are unacceptable. New Engine means new things not bring back the old problems from the last graphics engine/render.

Bad animations and stupid npcs.
Voice bugs (beggars with changing tone).
Endless money in the traders pockets.
Petty loot in richmen's houses.
Mysterious light sources in caves.
Enemies that see their brothers butchered and think it was the wind.
Books that can't be arranged vertically in bookshelves.

I don't want to see:

A "journal" that tells me what I've apparently decided I should do next.
Light armor that looks like a green rhinestone bathrobe.
Rats that will follow my character from one end of the map to the other.
Monsters pacing up and down supposedly well-traveled roads.
Bookshelves with multiple copies of the same book lined up on them.
Another crazy and annoying Bosmer.
A boss chest containing 11 septims and a flawed topaz.
Dead NPCs dropping weapons inside walls or through floors.
Empty water.
Enormous buildings suddenly popping into existence in previously empty valleys.
Quests where I'm told to go one place just so that an NPC can take ten seconds to tell me to go to some other place.
Daedric artifacts with useless enchantments.

I totally agree. Those are some of the most annoying parts of the game to me. I also dislike the back-and-forth travelling multiple times between two places in one quest. That kind of crap makes you want to use, dare I say it, Fast Travel. Here are a few additional things that also aggravated me:
Trees with random floating leaves
people who immediately discover your presence as soon as you get into their house.
Guards that come to the rescue from 8 miles away every time you do anything illegal.
Trying to jump onto a platform and getting stuck right on the edge, unable to jump or even walk forward onto the object.
The relatively small variety of different armor/weapon designs
The way arrows seem to disappear out of thin air when you kill anything, making you unable to recover them.
When an ally is following you, you go through a door, and they don't appear on the other side with you.
The stiff, sudden, unnatural movements of NPCs, such as complete changes of direction on a dime.
The way vampires eat, the NPC's eat, but the player can live forever without sleeping, eating, or taking a dump.
Chests with "Hard" locks on them, and nothing inside but crappy clothing and some calipers.
The complete lack of difference in appearance between goblins, rats, trolls, zombies, etc.
The undead all together. They were just in the way. No real threat
Wraiths that turned out to be screaming, floating blankets.
Lack of crime in cities.
NO BATTLES!!!
deer that made 90 degree turns every two step.
Inblility to climb steep hills and mountains. Going around gets really old.
Wolves not in packs??? wtf? why have any then?
six IS A PART OF LIFE! THIS IS AN advlt GAME SERIES! STOP SHELTERING US FROM NUDITY/six! WE AREN'T CHILDREN (or at least not supposed to be)
the list goes on...

I don't want too much copy/paste in landscapes, quest design, dialogue, faces, interiors.
I don't want quests that solve themselves (yes, I'm looking at you, quest update window). I want to find and put together the clues myself.

agreed.

  • Walled cities;
  • Hand holding (compass, automatic journal);
  • Generic story;
  • Puerile dialogue;
  • Linear main quest;
  • NPCs unaware of what's happening near them;
  • Crazy guards;
  • Traders that recognize stolen items;
  • Empty roads;
  • Quiet cities;
  • Too much light in caves;
  • Kamikaze bandits with no self preserving instinct;
  • Too much money and nothing to spend on;
  • Menu where you can only see a few inventory items at once;
  • Loot scaling;
  • Doors on caves.

Quoted for truth. I couldn't have come up with a better list if I'd tried.

(Except for the compass thing, it makes sense that my character would be intelligent enough to buy a compass.)

Armor you can't pick up (Oblivion, Imperial City Palace Guards).

The horrible level scaling from Oblivion.

NPC's going "Unconscious," ultimately being impossible to kill.

Automatically being able to fast travel to ANY city.

Not being able to equip individual pauldrons and gauntlets.

Ugly Faces.

They need to stop simplifying the games.
Why have they been doing that? It is a bit insulting, actually. It is as though they think so little of out intelligence that they have to simplify it with each new release. I am almost certain that they spend more time coming up with names for the NPC's than they do trying to create detailed, immersible gameplay. The increasing lack of detail that is put into these games is aggravating. I think that they have forgotten that this game series is supposed to be developed and designed for advlts; the games have also become more child-appropriate, which takes from much of the realism and overall experience of the game. A perfect example of this is nudity. I doubt that everyone in the world would be wearing brown undergarments under a full suit of armor, irremovable undergarments at that. I realize that Bethesda is determined to keep nudity out of the games now (though I am not sure why), but they have to realize that nudity/sixuality has been a part of advlt society since the dawn of time. In ancient Greek society, people were open about such things. I can remember reading about a Greek comedy (though I cannot recall the title) in which a group of six-deprived Greek warriors marched up to a temple where their wives were, each of them with large erections. six was also an integral part of Mythology. six is STILL a popular subject and always will be. So, to SHELTER advltS from sixuality in a video game is silly, insulting, and rather arbitrary.
Not to mention that we males all look at pormography and/or have six.

Glass armor!? wtf? I have never understood why they put this armor in the game... It looks like a shiny green bathrobe. And what does glass do in real life? IT SHATTERS!!! ...not provide defense against attacks. That whole armor/weapon set was a failure. It didn't even look that cool.

i always wrote it off as being as strong as a gemstone as for appearnece it looks ok the only thing it really has going for it is that its shiny and it provides a good defense and it doesnt weigh much the weapons weren't half bad either but even though it was a good weapon i couldnt help but facepalm myself at the idea of a glass bow

Not only are you expressing blatant ageism, you're also supporting an incorrect statement. Oblivion (fourth in the series) was rated M while Morrowind (third in the series) was rated T.

1. We aren't talking about Fallout 3. And GTA games have prosttutes as well. What is your point?
2. Just because a game is RATED M does not mean that it is neccessarily an advlt-oriented game. I have played Oblivion for many, many hours. Very little profanity; I have heard more swearing in teen games. Very little blood/gore, no limbs severed, etc. No six. There is nothing really bad about Oblivion, dude.
3. I was simply using a historical example that I saw fit. What is so abhorrent and perverted about using basic knowledge of Ancient culture to help prove a point? You are way too critical of the things that people say. The fact that your arguements are irrelevant doesn't help you at all either, I am afraid. Don't go hunting for fights.

I do like your avatar though. Good movie.

Fallout 3 was developed by Bethesda, so it is very relevant to the argument that you were trying to make. In case you didn't know, Bethesda is the maker of the Elder Scrolls series. We're on Bethesda forums.

Yes, but we weren't talking about prosttutes. Putting prosttutes in a game is not the same as putting six and nudity in a game. As I said earlier, GTA games have prostitution as well. You can buy them, drive them around, and make the car shake for 10 secs. Whoopie...

Oblivion was originally rated T but the ESRB changed it when they saw some things that were overlooked.
