What you don't want to see in Skyrim

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 10:47 am

Every have suggestions of what they would like to see in Skyrim. How about what the everybody doesn't want to see [ever again] or what they feel was a step back from Morrowind.
I for one could sell stolen items everywhere in Morrowind.
Since no one actually saw me steal an item it should not be universally declared stolen [step down].
Unless the merchants have the eyes of Super Man, should not be able tell that you have Skooma [drug] products.
The Oblivion lock picking is absolutely annoying, tedious, time consuming [step down].
Dremora and their silly-looking horns that look like Pug Nose dogs with mange [see Westly's Markynaz for solution].
A lack of female dremora [they have come from somewhere]
Tedious, extremely boring, monotonous, repetitious dungeon crawls that NOBODY WANTS.
If there are more to think up, I will reedit. Thankyou

Nothing too specific. I could do without Werewolves and Vampires though. Never been a fan of them. I'm also not a fan of a hardcoe mode, but since it will be surely optional that's fine.

Seems like you're going to be extremely disappointed with the MQ, or you're just going to avoid it altogether.

Yea, I am going to avoid it. I never liked being the "hero" type. I am totally against it ;)

I don't want to see:

A "journal" that tells me what I've apparently decided I should do next.
Light armor that looks like a green rhinestone bathrobe.
Rats that will follow my character from one end of the map to the other.
Monsters pacing up and down supposedly well-traveled roads.
Bookshelves with multiple copies of the same book lined up on them.
Another crazy and annoying Bosmer.
A boss chest containing 11 septims and a flawed topaz.
Dead NPCs dropping weapons inside walls or through floors.
Empty water.
Enormous buildings suddenly popping into existence in previously empty valleys.
Quests where I'm told to go one place just so that an NPC can take ten seconds to tell me to go to some other place.
Daedric artifacts with useless enchantments.

What i dont want to see in Skyrim:

-A quest tracker. It ruins the fun of the quest.

-Fast travel! Dont let me fast travel to Chorrol just after i first exited the sewer. Do it like Morrowind. That is more realistic. Mage guild teleport, Silt Striders (or whatever lives in Skyrim) and Boats.

-Headless zombies that hear you.

-Characters that can't die.

-Walking with a torch through a shop during daylight because else you can see nothing. (on default video brightness)

These.
Also, though this would be under the same headers as the boss chest.

Entering the home of a rich individual with the intent to rob him/her blind, only to find spoons, a candlestick and a few septims.

Loading screens
Weapons that don't touch the target but blood still spatters
Guards with paranormal abilities
Leveled loot
Companions that become "unconscious"
The quest compass
Combat music for mudcrabs&co
Moments that are supposed to be "epic" (citizens acclaiming) with a mere few npcs on screen

If you hate lock picking so bad then just get the skeleton key.

But i never want to see AI as bad as Oblivions was. Which i think is fixed.

  • Walled cities;
  • Hand holding (compass, automatic journal);
  • Generic story;
  • Puerile dialogue;
  • Linear main quest;
  • NPCs unaware of what's happening near them;
  • Crazy guards;
  • Traders that recognize stolen items;
  • Empty roads;
  • Quiet cities;
  • Too much light in caves;
  • Kamikaze bandits with no self preserving instinct;
  • Too much money and nothing to spend on;
  • Menu where you can only see a few inventory items at once;
  • Loot scaling;
  • Doors on caves.

What ceirtainly annoys me in Oblivion you get arrested for picking up a item even it's rather worthless like a pie , but .... If you hack and slash the place there is absolutly no problem.

When you move a item you are a criminal when you move a item with a sword there is no problem ... :cryvaultboy:

Unfortunately what I don't want in is already confirmed to be in and that's children. Adds nothing to the game except hinder the do what you want aspect of it. I was super excited about Skyrim but now I am undecided whether to get it or not. Almost no excitement about the game now but I still like to read the boards to read ideas and stuff.

An auto compass. It was a curse and necessity at the same time.

All knowing guards. I know they have to come up with some way that the player doesn't steal an entire village dry, but some system has to be better than this.

Bandits with Deadric armor. Seriously, if they could really afford that would they be robbing people for 10 gold along the roads?

Bandits with a brain. I'll never forget those stupid ashelander bandits attacking my Deadric armored and armed warrior with chitin arrows and clubs. Does RUN never come into their minds? How did they live very long out there anyway?

Bandits that have ebony, daedric and glass armour.
Stupid mini-games.
Hand-holding.
Flawed levelling system.
Lone animals that never stick in packs.
Dragon fights that consist of hacking at the ankles for half an hour.
