What if -You- Get Bored Being the Dragonborn?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:02 pm

So... someone already made a thread with the question of "What if I don't Want to be the Dragonborn."

It got locked... since, well, the question was apparently answered. However... that thread gave rise to a question of my own. What do -you- plan to do, either once you're bored with the Main Quest or... maybe if you decide not to touch it at all. This has been a possibility in every Elder Scrolls game to date. Certainly it won't stop now.

So, then... let's have it!

How do you like to pass time in Nirn, when you're not the 'Hero of the Hour'?

I collect watermelons and roll them off hills :) That get's boring quite fast, though, and I go back to dungeon-raiding.

I remember doing stuff like that...however I think the physics in Skyrim will make it fun.

I have often gone from one end of Cyrodiil to the other, collecting yarn...

... I foresee my next Khajiit doing the same, again. Maybe with differently colored yarns? Oh... I hope...

There's a thread asking the same question on the front page. Just skip the main quest (I'm guessing that will still be possible).

I'll be going through the main quest, but in my reprieves from the main questline, I explore, do side quests, and, in Skyrim, I hope to experience some base jumping.

I think that some folks are misunderstanding...

... I'm not asking if you CAN ignore the main quest. I'm asking YOU, specifically, what you enjoy doing WHEN you ignore the main quest, and what you think you'd like to be doing to amuse yourself outside of the main quest in Skyrim.

For instance... my yarn collecting. With the advent of Occupations, though... I think I might take up working in the mines...

Trying out the new features, such as cooking, crafting(?), farming, etc. =) It really depends on my character, though.
Mess around with the NPC's a bit. =)
Save money for a house.
Explore the towns/cities and wilderness and collect ingredients in order to improve my alchemy skills.
Do small side-quests (which is what I usually did in Oblivion and Morrowind, anyway).

Find a way to become a necromancer. Experiment on undead.
Maybe even raise a dragon from the dead (oh I'll find a way)...

Shout at people! I wanna make npc's fight eachother. Oh yeah, bar fights, killing people in taverns is so much fun. Or replacing peoples food with potions of paralyze.
Take over a town. Make a new home in that town. Call in a dragon to destroy the town...
Mod custom spells to do cool things.
Smith items, enchant them slightly cursed, and give them away.
Search for unique loot, such a hard thing to do in Oblivion...

Im also an avid collector of souls and gems.
And even though my mage character won't use armor or weapons I will still enchant them to be perfect.
Wreck peoples shops with AoE spells.
Feed graqes to sheep.
Base jumping (if slowfall makes a return, or mod it in)
Attack the imperial cult! (its not Cyrodil anymore, the Nords have their own pantheon. Think they will return?)
Skooma
Lots of skooma

SInce Oblivion I have a need to CRUSH every bandit I see. *Screams at bandits about armor and retirement*

Im running out of ideas, but there are more...

Roleplay, roleplay, roleplay....first I'll breeze through the main questline and a bunch of major factions and finish them in the most generic way possible, just to gauge what my character is up against... and then I'll restart and get into hardcoe roleplay mode.

Well I'm going to go wherever the game takes me, which most of the time I get part of the way into the main quest before I get sidetracked doing side quests and dungeons I happen upon until I run out of side quests that are on hand and then head back to the main quest.

I basically do everything before the main quest anyway. like being archmage and arena champion before even thinking of embarking on the main quest. I save it for last.

There!

I've now added a fun little poll!

Now, keep at it! What makes you keep coming back to the Elder Scrolls... even when you're tired of saving the world and defeating the evil god/boss/dragon/thing!?

Being "DragonBORN" has nothing to do with the main quest, ignore it or not you are still the DragonBorn....you're BORN that way.

One thing I did in Oblivion was to collect all the bones I could and see how large of a bone pile I could make with it... turns out big enough to bury a beggar.

I'll probably sneak around and rob people for a while -- when I'm bored of that I'll go contract lycanthropy and kill a few dozen guards.... and improvise from there :)
(blame it all on the snow elves of course)

edit: and Joey..... just wow.

Snow men!
Maybe we can enchant them to life, like frosty the snow man, but more homicidal?
