What do you hope to see in the upcoming DLCs

Post » Thu May 06, 2010 1:10 pm

So I've been curious, with no detail on how/what the DLCs will be about, what do you hope to see out of the upcoming DLC's?

Me personally, I'd like to see some more story and dialogue driven stories, I really enjoy that about Fallout New Vegas so far. So let's hear your wants.

P.S.- Yes, this poll IS racist, but to what? That's for you to find out

I wanna vote for both 1, 2 and 3. :(

Anyway, what I'd like from a DLC is one that actually expands on the actual game. (Not past the main quest but rather just flesh out the rest of the game.)
But I know that won't happen, they'll all be toy-box DLC's leading up to the real DLC with Ulysses.
So what I want from these game within a game toybox DLC's is choices, a reason to play through it more than once or twice.
I want that the maps are at least as sandbox'ish as Dead Money was or maybe even more to Point Lookouts extent.
I want at some point new companions that I can bring back to the Mojave Wasteland.
I want more perks and traits but no more forced level caps.

But a more general design I'm interested in is: Allow me to go back and give me a reason to go back.
Wether it's side-quests, hidden stuff, collectibles, allow me to go back.
And next up is for the story to have a good branching out design which allows for greater replayability.
And thirdly: for [censored]s sake don't unbalance the game with forced level caps or forced perks or overpowered weapons.

Most importantly though: More Legion, I think every DLC should have some Legion character or a connection to Legion in order to flesh them out then go out with a big bang and do a full Legion DLC.

I voted 4 (easy to please) but would have added 2 or 3.

I'm not too worried about new weapons -- the game has plenty -- but some gadgets would be cool, maybe some mods or new ammo types. I'd like some open area to explore and the ability to return if I choose. New Perks or Traits would be nice. I think the Dead Money levels were added because someone at Obsidion realized that success in the DLC relied on some skills that the average player may not have developed; I don't think we'll see more levels. I sort of hope not.
I hope that each DLC has some relevance to the main game. I hope that when the GOTY edition is released the DLCs are better woven into the main story, with more convincing entry points.
That's all, really. Like I said, I'm easy to please.

I agreed with this, expecially the forced leveling. For petes sake, 30 levels was enough, if you want to add new perks with each DLC, then make the person start a new character or dont level grind so they can see whats up, but if they raise the level cap again, Im going to mentally kick the developers. Also, I agree, alot of my staunch opinion against Caesars Legion is because, as it stands, I view them as littler more than tribals with a false cause. If they expanded on life in an average town under Legion order, I might be willing to loosen up on my opposition (but the slavery thing will keep them from ever being positive in my eyes). If their cities are stable and what have you, then I might be willing to go from hostile attitude, to a bow of the head mutual respect.

@Al D- Yep, so am I. As long as the story is entertaining and I get a few new toys, even if it's a new misc item (I LOVE collecting objects) I'm happy. But eh, I'm really not a picky guy. As long as I enjoy the story, which isnt hard, I'm happy. I'm one of the few who seemingly thought Op Anch was an amazing RP DLC (I have a strong imagination). As long as we dont have a DLC like that damned MZ, I'm happy.

If it's too hard for them to code in optional leveling my suggestion is to release two DLC's, they are identical except that one of them gives +5 more levels. (New perks goes to both DLC's.)

Think I've seen a couple of those kinds of DLC's, like, I remember Fable II release two identical DLC's, one is the real DLC that players can play with and it costs money, and the other one is for if you don't have the DLC then this one is free so you can still play online with others that "do" have the DLC so it doesn't pop up a bunch of error signs all over the place but you cannot use any of the DLC items and crap. (Remember The Pitt on release day?)

Would be a very easy way in case it's too hard for them to code in an optional level increase.
If they can't code it in and they don't do a double DLC and they still force on a level cap increase then it's obvious to me that Bethesda/Obsidian don't give a [censored] about people that want balance.

i want something with an amazing story line, and awesome new items, and cool new people, also i want it to be adventures, and i want there to be a point, like for example : some1s trying to start a second nuclear fallout, and u as a currier have to decide if u want humanity to live or die, something like that, something "big" i like what im hearing about Ulysses, and i really like the idea of the burned man, i hope they live up to expectations.....

I'm voting for 2 and 3, I liked dead money, because it was a survival and puzzle situation in which your decisions decided if you lived or had your head blown off.
We need DLC's like Dead Money, maybe not with explosive collars, speakers, and the Cloud, but definitely something that is formed based on your decisions. But it still needs to be able to have a good story like in Dead Money.

I hope to see a DLC that's much better implemented. I hate how Dead Money feels more like a side or parallel story. You pause your regular game to go play Dead Money for a bit, then return to it. And then can never return. I want a DLC that expands the game world. I want one that adds new lands for me to explore that I can keep going back to at will.

And no more annoying gimmicks like the speakers.

I want more perks and traits but no more forced level caps - PLEASE! I mean leveling is great until I become to godly or when you add a new DLC make the Exp awards decrease by a lot. I want some new traits to play with I know I'll have to start a new character but thats the point :).

And thirdly: for [censored]s sake don't unbalance the game with forced level caps or forced perks or overpowered weapons. - I'm ok with OPed weapons but I hope for a few more medium-tier weapons. Please add back my R-9 assault rifle!

Most importantly though: More Legion, I think every DLC should have some Legion character or a connection to Legion in order to flesh them out then go out with a big bang and do a full Legion DLC. - 100%

Basically YES to all this.

Want something like Point Lookout. New, big enough, OPEN and free to play location with it's own citizens, quests, story, weapons and challenges. Please, do not make linear "tunnel" play DLC like Anchorage or Zeta. Dead Money story was OK (Bioshock-like atmosphere), but again tunnels, small amount of enemy types, and too dark.
And how about Enclave arrival story? Mr. House early followers?I think it will be interesting.

The problem with Vegas is that it has a lot of empty trucks, boxes, etc. I miss the Bobble Heads with the fixed increase in points. The fo3 seemed to make you feel more into the character. I guess since you kind of grew up with the character.. I also miss the original books which helped build the character which Vegas fails to let you do. And of course the plot ends. Maybe Vegas needs to do something more with brotherhood instead of hiding them. Fo3 had both outcasts and brotherhood but they never let you unite them again. Finally .. Why is it the chinese stealth armor dosn't work? That was the best part of the dlc anchorage- the stealth armor. I love the idea of wild wasteland perk.. Let's you get the best weapon - the alien gun..

Bobbleheads - removed because of balance
Skill books - still exists just in a lesser amount because of balance
Story ends - because the ending sliders would be far too much work and would require another game or an entire expansion because a DLC cannot deliver that content.
Brotherhood - because of lore.
Stealth armor - removed the effect because of balance.

You character becomes a demigod after all those skill books and bobbleheads, good riddance
As for the BOS, Lore reason, they are weak in the West

For some this is true for the player who wants to enjoy it and replay it - they like the "Build The Character" point of view. Since i am a single player in this game, I love the ultimate character. That's why I still enjoy FO3 better for the 360 or PS3. I have also played on the PC which is the best to set your character up from the beginning - which is a given (But the consoles load easier/faster). So to make all happy there should of been a Wasteland Character Perk so you have the option to have all these other perks that a few don't want when they play on their 360 or PS3. Balance is only useful if online MP - which I agree with.
