What do you like better MW's and Oblivions simple 100+ side

Okay before I start I would like to say that I loved both MW and Oblivion and every thing about those games are flawless except one thing in "my opinion"- the side quest. First off in Oblivion every thing was great including all the factions, the main quest, easter eggs, ect. but for the side quest in my opnion were really generic and 90% of them were "go here and bring this back to me and I will give you a reward" now there were a few good fantasy driven side quest like the: troll painting, going into someones dream, the who did it, the stolen painting, the Umbacano Alyleid statue quest, The haunted house in Anvil, the Hackdirt rescue quest, and the daedric princes side quests. Besides those there are 80 to 90+ generic quests in Oblivion and MW. Skyrim has 100+ side quest and the first side quest announced was the Golden Claw one in the demo which seemed pretty generic and boring in my opinion. Do you guys like the 20 to 30 45 min. side quest to be in Skyrim like the well thought out ones that were in Fallout 3 and NV or 100+ generic quests like in MW and Oblivion? :snoring:

LOL yea that would be nice, but it seems Bethesda has gotton lazy over the past few years

Definitely not Fallouts. Some are good, yes. There's too few of them for an ES game though.

Can't choose any of the choices. I like the randomly generated quests that impart a sense of people needing [censored] done, but I would like for the quests that are fully hand-crafted to give the most unique rewards.

hehe, well what I meen by Fallouts quest was most were unique, if you did not like them than thats your opinion I guess. As for Oblivion 90% of every side quest I came upon wanted me to go get a weapon out of a cave and bring it back or rescue someone from zombies and bring them back.

When I first picked up Fallout 3, I was kind of confused and annoyed by how long their "quests" were. There were these big main ones like the protect Bigtown and that weird vampire-ish one whos name forgets me. I loved the way Oblivion and Morrowind handled quests. Then again though, different types of games with different dynamics. By and large though, I think Oblivion's quests were a hell of a lot more memorable than Fallout 3's, even though I liked that game for its own merits.

My previous statement wasn't ment to be snippy or label my disposition towards FO3's Quests, I just wanted a description.

The quest where you enter the VR and confront braun and get little lol's here and there in the quest was thought out but so was
Entering that Mages Dream and collecting his "personality"

there was nothing well thought out about ants attacking a already destroyed town especially since there were no bodies..just alot of ants
Oblivions Whodunit is an example of a well thought out quest, but going to some fort and killing a womans ex husband to bring her mace back wasnt so much...

Just my opinion, anyway all I see is Bethesda dumbing down there series. They could atleast made the map 15 to 25% bigger..... :shakehead:

People could say that they started dumbing down the series with Morrowind, since it axed a ton of stuff from Daggerfall. You could also call it refining instead. But you're right, it's all opinion.

The longer the side quests, the higher the chance of crashing into another quest, which may accidentally start, break or finish another quest.

What about the Keller Family tapes? Or the graves that had notes in them? Those were great quests in Fallout 3, one gave you an awesome weapon, the other lead you to a fight against a super mutant behemoth.

I understand what you're saying, but I disagree. The ant quest was really cool. You killed the fire breathing ants and had to learn how to get rid of them and even killed the giant ant queen and got a perk while learning about them, and you could feel the NPC's emotions take place like the boys dad being killed. Also the one were you have to get 3 headshots on 3 wanted guys and get a key to a secret location and get really cool unique armour : )

Well, think about it this way

If you were to go over to your elderly next door neighbors RIGHT now, and say you would really like it if you were able to help them out in some way, would they hand you their grocery list and ask you to go to the shops, or would they ask you to attend a party that they are hosting in order to kill off several people that they have reason to dislike?

I agree,even if a lot of them or so called generic,I want a ton a them! BTW I though the golden claw had a lot of action...that is okay in my book!

I would say that I would like the Oblivion and Morrowind style quests, rather than Fallout style quests. Fallout did have some very unique and awesome quests, but there were not that many though. I actually liked Morrowind's side-quests the most. I can't remember the name of the quest, but it was for the Fighters Guild and you had to find and kill this wanted fugitive. I was never able to complete it though, but what made it really good was you actually had ask around to find out where he was and you actually had to "search" for him; instead of having a quest marker.



More unique quests like that.

People are people. Not everyone has over the top world changing issues to deal with. Some people would just really appreciate it if you were to hold a door open for them and give them a smile one morning in your entire lifetime. I'd rather have lots of NPCs that seemed like real people rather than a load of mindless sprites with the occasional obsessive, fanatical person. The so called "generic" quests were part of what brought the game world to life. Would you even bother talking to random NPCs if you didn't think they had anything to do with any quest at all? Speechcraft master training basically encompassed this, where you get rewarded for going out of your way to talk to the most deprived people in Cyrodiil.
