What do you NOT want in Skyrim #2

Post » Wed Apr 06, 2011 12:00 pm

I made a topic under the same name and it was fairly successful so here is the part two.

And here is the original message on the first topic. Plus a few additions

Well there is a main forum for what you want in Skyrim, so I figured, why not make a forum to express what you do not want to see in Skyrim.

My list:
Adoring Fan
Fargoth
Lock picking mini game (Oblivion style)
Speechcraft mini game (Oblivion style)
Multiplayer
Vats
Level Scaling (If there is any make it like Morrowind)
Not having beards
Not having any of the weapons available in Morrowind.
Any Types of guns
The Lack of Mysticism svcks but I'll live with it.
And more I am sure but I cannot think of them right now.

I must confess, I actually liked the speechcraft mini game in Oblivion.

Hopefully any kind of iteration of the vats is left out in Skyrim and the obsessive level-scaling that Oblivion had (Thieves don't wear glass armour dag'nammits!).

Yeah it would be useful if there was a skin tone thing, that had various shades, then the pale/dark stuff could be in there. In oblivion you could either be a white person, a whiter white person, or like a native american.

Things that look on the way to be fixed :

- Fast travel that has no explanation in game. Let it in, but tell me why I go *poof* when I touch the map.
- Boring dungeons : traps and spike and poison ! And in varied locations - no more "Oblivion world n°2" style of exploration. Even I had the layout memorized after a while.
- Level scaling, Oblivion style.
- Slooooooooooow, bored-to-death voice acting... in one voice for three races.
- Lack of reaction in AI. Hey, I've just killed your mate in combat, be sad, mad or afraid !
- Unimpressive creatures. Trolls in Oblivion ? Please.
- Inability to buy yourself custom-built enchantments for items. *sad*
- AAAaaaahmonster nope, it's a NPC, sorry kind sir.
- Bloom. Pretty please ?

Not sure :

- An assassin guild like the Cyrodiil DB. It was hilarious, granted, but slightly embarrassing to be with all the same.
- Compulsory quest pop-ups. They annoyed the hell out of me. -_-
- Compulsory quest compass ; I want to have to look for things please. :(
- Mudcrab dialogues. Make it rich and interesting, and above all, bring back the funny overheard remarks !
- Lack of strategy in AI. Impress me in combat : sneak on me, try to make me fall into a trap, dodge, retreat behind a tree when I shoot at you, etc.
- Guild-joining requirement. I svck at magic, the mages shouldn't even look at me.
- Lack of complexity and interaction (this factions hate this one, these ones are allied, go and pretend to join but undermine them, etc.)
- Lack of consequences to your choices, positive or negative : they should be felt. And you shouldn't be able to do easily everything in one just run.

Blue Night Eye. This is, quite literally, the one thing that I do not want. Any color other than blue would suffice. Literally any color. I hate Obliv's blue Night Eye so much. I hate it with a passion. If it were an NPC, I would ruthlessly slaughter it, then dance upon its corpse and laugh maniacally. Then I would rob its house of all its possessions, and if it had any family members, I would take them out as well.

So, yeah, anything but blue Night Eye.

This. And hopefully there will be more non-quest related artifacts.

The main things I do not want to see are..

1. Multiplayer
2. Lore ignored
3. Too much DLC
4. PC exclusive(won't happen)
5. Overpowered weapons
6. Overpowered perks
7. Too glitchy
8. Too many minigames
9. Online play
10. Eliminating Hand-to-Hand skill

Don't want: Everything dumbed down for people who won't play the game anyway.
Do want: More mudcrab dialogue.

I though it rocked. AT LEAST those characters had a personnality, even though they were kinda cliché. Still, their quest were the most fun I had in all of OB,

Multiplayer and online (Leave multiplayer for other games and online for FPS/MMO(RPG's)

Permanent end to the game once done mainquest.

Dungeons which serve no purpose once a quest is done or to get loot. Oblivion had several instances which made the dungeon feel empty and pointless afterward.

Simplified and dumbed down (Sims 3 anyone?)

-No mass effect style dialog wheel please I hate how condensed that thing is
-overly complex puzzles or a work around for them because a good warrior can solve any problem by stabbing it in the face!!!
-multiplayer (Not that I don't want it I just think it might dilute the game quality is all.)
-pre-order bonus!!! My item sets cannot be complete without "all" the items!!!!!!!!!

Other then that I'am golden as a gecko still cant wait for the game. Do not see a single game that could compete with Skyrim at this point in time.

My list of what I don't want

Oblivion style fast travel
Dragon mounts
Quest arrows
Samey voice acting (was I just talking to a nord or an orc?)
Oblivion style enemy level scaling (hopefully they're not lying when they say it's going to be different from Oblivions)
Mini-games
lack of choices and consequences (we don't need to do every friggen quest in one playthrough, and lets have clashes between guilds please)
closed cities (if they must have cities in child worldspaces then please don't use the same boring, bland, giant city walls that they used on every city in Oblivion)

That's all I can think of now. Please don't be offended if it sounds like I'm bashing Oblivion. It's the latest game in the series, I did have a lot of problems with Morrowind too, it's just that they were fixed in Oblivion so there's no reason to be worried about them.
