What kind of question is this?

It's like asking if we want to watch a movie or play a video game. No gameplay, no game.

I still play http://www.nethack.org/ and consider it hands-down one of the best RPGs ever made. 'Nuff said.

If I had to choose personally game play. There are tons of older games that still play better then most games today that look like utter shiz some might say. For example Mario 64, 007 Goldeneye, and Legend of Zelda (pre game cube)

But I have a PC so I don't need to choose either or :flamethrower:

Well if I had to play a game without graphics I'd be staring at a blank screen

Unless we're talking about like card games or something

It depends what "Bad" means to you.

For me,
- An Out-dated looking game isn't "Bad looking" as long as it has some visual style or polish.

- A game that gives me a headache from looking at it is Bad looking game.

I require my graphics to look good. Out-dated or not, just need to look good.

I don't really see the point of this poll, it's just going to cause a lot of flaming.

I vote both.

Been there, done that.

I've already done a thread on the importance of graphics, poll and all. Long time ago. Much more intelligently, as well, as it fueled a very good debate. This is a useless thread.

First of all your poll targets graphics only. You are basically saying....do you like good graphics. Everyone does. My poll targets which one is more important. IN other words which one would you rather sacrifice. Clearly the genral pop would like beth to spend time on gameplay not graphics. Havent been here, have don that. Whats up now, son?

I'd still happily play games on the Infinity Engine if they had a good plot and lots of areas to explore. Graphics are nice, but I enjoyed PnP/tabletop games before I had a computer, there were games I enjoyed on the Spectrum with very basic blocky graphics, there were games I enjoyed on the PC I had back in the early '90s which had a 25Mhz CPU (including "Legends of Valour", which I believe Todd Howard cited as being a source of inspiration for Daggerfall - the combat works the same only Daggerfall is an infinitely better game, and CIV of course), there were games I enjoyed on the PC I had 10-15 years ago (BG, PST etc) which had far from realistic graphics and character animations.

We've come to expect good graphics from games, but if good graphics were the sole reason for a game being good, I'd have never got into computer gaming at all. Although I'm always happy to see great graphics of course, that wasn't what made me enjoy any of the games I mentioned, and many of them I still enjoy to this day.

tl;dr - Gameplay every time.

Great gameplay. Mediocre graphics by todays standards do look good enough, and games of now can afford to cut from the visual department (imo).
