What do you do to relax?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:11 pm

So finals are upon us, and I'm going to have an aneurysm come next week. The best way for me to relax at times like this are to make sure I set aside time to study and do homework so I won't get behind or get rushed. But still, I feel like I'm going to explode.

What do you do to relax or not get rushed?

To relax I drink bourbon or whisky, neat, preferably with a nice cigar. Nothing slows down time better, well almost nothing

I'll take time to just chill with friends, or do whatever, I try to get as much time for myself in as possible so that I've done all the fun things possible before hardcoe crunch studying and papers so that when I sit to do the exams or even revise my mind doesn't drift to what else I could be doing that I would enjoy, shame it doesn't work with ADHD your mind wanders no matter what so unfortunately I can't do anything about it, to be short though I try writing , writing whatever , fiction stories, songs , poems, something creative that I can feel happy about afterwards :)

I pace myself. Having a plan puts my mind at ease.

I once had to juggle 8 huge design jobs at once...however my mind just kept reverting to minecraft, which killed more time which left me more stressed by the end of the night.

I finally sat down and just wrote out an agenda.

"This is when i'm going to make this flash app, and i'm going to have done by here. This is when i'm going to start this photoshoot, and i'm gonna finish it here and fast track that vodka campaign.."

After just filling it out, my mind was at ease. I even managed to write in some minecraft time before starting all that work. :P

Ride a bicycle, take a walk, garden, watch the birds at the feeders, and read the paper.

The only way for me to really relax to get all of my outstanding work out of the way, so I do that first. You can't relax when you know that you should be working.

As for what I do to chill when I have no work to do... well that's incredibly rare but when it does happen I practise guitar, play videogames (although preferably not online FPSs - I never finish a session of those in a good mood), read, watch TV series DVDs (I can't be done with keeping up with things when they're actually on), go on forums, toss a ball about with my mates etc etc. Basically all the stuff I do to procrastinate but I'm not procrastinating so it's actually enjoyable.

And some other stuff that may or may not be suitable for a 13+ forum.

Sleeping is pretty relaxing

I also read a lot, draw and do yoga. All of which are very relaxing especially if you have the right music on in the background. Ambient musc

Sleep. That and watch Anime. If I can get one episode of Anime and a good night's sleep every night I'll be right as rain for anything, even finals. Of course that's speaking for the first half of school I did. I'm about to start the second half this week of "the hardest thing you'll ever have to do", so I'll see how well it holds up when I have tests. :P

Listening to music. Really takes your mind out of the situation you're in, whether it's Jeremy Soule or Skilet.

I commit genocide of other nations. And by that I mean play a nice relaxing game like Rise of Nations, with lots of pretty and calming music. :)

Sometimes, when I find myself quite irritated or vexed, I clean house, and I find it theraputic. I rather enjoy scrubbing the bathroom. Why, I don't know.

Relax during finals? That is blasphemy!

I have AP exams in 2 weeks, and I have basically been studying non stop for 4 days, aside from coming on here.

So I guess I calm myself by studying and getting on the forums :hehe:

Pretty much what you do. four hours of essay writing, four hours of Fallout 3 and pissing about on the internet.

Stay on top of things. Don't ever procrastinate especially when it is finals week. I don't know how many people have told you that, but whenever I do, I regret it.

What I also do is do homework and study for about 2 hours and take a 20 minute break, then go back at it for 2 more hours, then a 20 minute break, and I repeat that until I am either too tired to work, or have everything done.
