So... what do you think about Redguards?

Post » Thu Mar 20, 2014 6:42 am

They weren't mentioned at all in the 5 years that followed the Great War which is what really mattered for the Redguards. The reconciliation is more important than you give credit for and possibly the best strategic victory for them as now instead of wasting lives killing each other, the Redguards could united against the Dominion. Also the general was pretty much acting against the emperors orders when he discharged some of the legionnaires. While the legion itself was certainly important, it had nothing to do with a decision made by the empire.

I like Redguards and played as one in Oblivion and Skyrim. In case you're curious here a some screen shots of my level 53 Redguard warrior I made a couple of years ago. There are taken from the Xbox so please take into consideration.

She was a dual-wielding warrior, Companion and a werewolf. Pretty fun to play.

They seem kind of cool, they even have their own version of Alduin. Not to mention that they can give Orcs a run for their money in combat. The ones in Skyrim seemed quite weak though.

And I never understood why that one RG in the mages guild in Oblivion told us that you don't see many Redguard mages.. Why not?

They probably weren't fond of mages at the time due to this guy http://www.imperial-library.info/content/azra-nightwielder

and of course the Camoran Usurper.

lol@ i don't give the reconciliation credit. When i just stated the facts that it was all a '''''''''''''''combined'''''''''''''' set of events that drove the Dominion out :bonk:

General Decianus is part of the Empire, the men are trained & equipped by the Empire. Decianus's actions represent them, as do the men. i'm sure if he did something wrong instead of right, you'd be happily enough to quickly assosiate him with the Empire.

Who knew mentioning that the invalids also helped defeat the Dominion in Hammerfell, would end in a debate to dig at or take any credit away from the Legion/Empire :meh:

ha too late for me, I really tried to avoid creating a Redguard but I've made both a man and woman once I got home ha...only 1 will remain though and I have yet to decide which one.

In retrospect you're right, that is a heavily modded face...I've tried to make such a beauty on Xbox and didn't come close to that PC pic :P

I think they're talking about the desert, not that the land is deadly.

I'll say this twice, those discharged legionaries do deserves the credit but not the Empire. The emperor is the one who represents the Empire here not Decianus, His orders were to get every able bodied soldier into Cyrodill. The discharged invalid wanted to stay behind against the emperor's orders and were allowed to be discharged by Decianus who was also acting against the Emperor's orders . You don't take credit for your former employees actions when they do something after they've been fired. Nevermind the fact that they were doing something that you didn't want them to do the whole time. Disobeying orders in warfare is something that can even get you executed! It doesn't matter whether or not the men have been trained and equipped by the Empire (most of those coming from taxes paid by the provinces so even then it's hardly the Empire providing for them) The point is what the invalids did have nothing to do with any decision made by the Empire. There is a reason why those legions had to be DISCHARGED, it is so their actions had nothing to do with the Empire anymore and the Empire is not held accountable for what they do.

If it was the Empire's orders to leave soldiers behind then yes the Empire would get credit, but that isn't the case.

Speaking of Redguards, am I the only 1 who's bothered by the lack of Black hair options? I think there's 4 or 5 different choices and 2 of them are cornrows....where's the free hanging locks or a style with a couple beads in it?

Actually, that's possibly one reason I always change my mind when I'm trying to make a Redguard - I'd *love* at least one natural hair option (such as this lady's beautiful curls http://www.africanamericanhairstylevideos.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Kimberly_Elise_naturalhair.jpg) I mean, I guess Redguard *could* just naturally all have straight hair, but...

Yeah! I wanna sport a guy with an http://www.tagroom.com/images/uploads/Jim-Kelly-dies-from-cancer.jpeg. Though it's actually pretty hard to make a good looking afro model and texture for a game without making it look like a weird solid mass with fake texture slapped over it. That's why hair like that lady's beautiful curls isn't added, it would likely look like crap. :(

Yeah :( Heck, it took until 2012 for Disney to make a cartoon character with convincingly curly hair (Brave).

I like them the best out of the human races. I'm not a lore buff but I find a skilled swordsman cooler than a screaming barbarian. Plus I like the desert and its critters.

I was hoping for something a bit more African tribal then those pretty curls but even the curly style would be a welcome addition to the hair choices....curly hair is the work of the devil on dudes though

good to know that I'm not the only one.

ha Williams is the man but how hard would it really be to give a big fro? It's not as if hair is free flowing in Skyrim anyway so the solid mass wouldn't look any more strange then the long hair that's a solid mass

Yeah, and we're talking about non rendered stuff here, that kind of hair in motion in a game would probably annihilate most of modern computers with only a single moving character on the screen. :P

Well the way they make hair atm not too hard at all, true. Unfortunately, while they made a lot of things in Skyrim just beautifully and graphics went a long way, I still think Skyrim hair mostly looks like crap. :P I don't blame them. It's hard to mimic thousands of hairs with limitations of using only one texture and limited amount of vertices on a model, especially in a game where you can't concentrate on a single hairstyle of the main character but have to offer us, players tons of different haircuts for each race and six. I certainly don't envy them for all the work they have to do, no matter how half-arsed that work sometimes appears to be.

Those dark-skinned bastards are all thieves, murderers, all-mighty wizards, and Windhelm Store Owners

We're talking about Dunmers right?

Redguards get hair other races dont get! :D

Decianus's actions still represent the Empire.

His Legion is assigned to defend Hammerfell under orders from the Empire/Emperor that no doubt allow him to use his own discretion i.e to act in accordance with what he feels is the right way to handle a situation, hence his planned counter attack on Skaven. So why should being ordered back to Cyrodiil (no mention of all able bodied soldiers) prevent him from using his discretion with the invalids ? it doesn't.

I really like the look of the Hammerfell Garb. That has really helped give them a unique look in my eyes.

I like the fact that they now get archery as none of the other human races are that good in the bow.

No his actions don't and even if it did those invalids are no longer part of Imperial fighting force and thus their actions are their own not the Empires. They been discharged for Talos sake, if their actions were permitted by the Empire they wouldn't have resorted to desertion. His orders were to march to Cyrodill, allowing the soldiers to be discharged with impunity was his own idea not the Empires. What Decianus's actions do represent however are that of his legion and as I said already I do give credit to that legion, just not the Empire itself.

We know that every able bodied legionnaire was to be thrown into the fray, otherwise the Forsworn would've never taken Markarth and every remaining legion wouldn't have been reduced to half strength after Red Ring.
