I'm going to start a save as a Redguard for the first time (after over 400 hours of gameplay). Is there anything interesting to know about them?

I am a big fan of them, a lot of their history and lore makes them seem like clever and skilled fighters. I personally think Redguards are far better fighters than Nords. But if you want to learn more about their history and culture you should read up on them from The Imperial Library http://www.imperial-library.info/
Made a 2 handed one just spam power attacks it was fun for a while.
They're proof that steel can match spells when they fought the Dominion to a stalemate....that alone has earned newly found Redguard cool points in my book. I used a Redguard warrior back in OB when skills were set in stone.
They fought them to a stalemate? Gods. I'm beginning to like them already. I will follow that link that Delta posted sometime...
Oh, there is one thing though. How are they for looks? I want to make a moderately attractive female character for a werewolf or a vampire...
ha yep, here's a link for the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Second_Treaty_of_Stros_M%27Kai...the first few sentences say it all
Hm. I can't wait to be confronted by the Aliki'r... At least I assume that that happens. Their lore gives me less reason to kill them all.
I'd say they look damn good if you know how to tweak their sliders ha: http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/049/c/c/amara___redguard_by_deathknowz-d5vgyi4.jpg (it seems he's using vanilla features here with pretty PC graphics). She looks perfect for a sixy werewolf in disguise
UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHH
IS THAT REAL LIFE?
Very good, indeed. Xbox wouldn't be able to do that, though.
+1 they are badass. Things not mentioned in-game is that they get +10 to one handed and 5 to destruction, archery, block, smithing and alteration. Pretty neat bonus for starter dual wielder (especially with the Adrenaline Rush), or sword and board, or a spellsword etc. Of course without mods and/or on easier difficulties it doesn't matter much which class you go with, it just makes more sense to play them as a warrior of some kind, to me at least.
Actually, that face seems pretty heavily modded.
The default female redguard on 360 actually looks pretty good. Just give her some eyeliner and if you want facepaint and you're all set.
I say wear the redguard cloth and use a scimitar with Alteration magic for defense. Hardly optimal but good for a pure redguard experience.
ha not even close but that doesn't mean that us Xbox players can't create vanilla beauties....must resist urge to create new character, must resist the urge to create lady Redguard
It's more of a RP decision or preference in this game what race you use but they do give starting bonuses like you say.
I'm not on PC but aside from the nice texture mods, she appears to have vanilla eyes and color, vanilla warpaint, mouth, etc.
Visit the Bannered Mare in whiterun, and look for Yourself. She even has scars on Her face and is considered one of the most attractive Women in Skyrim.
If that is true... then maybe Redguards are not for me. Haha.
Redguard's are well known as great warriors & mercenaries. But they can also be shrewd & smart. One of my favorite Redguard characters in TES is Gentleman Jim Stacy , the head of the Thieves Guild in TES III Morrowind.
To be fair they did have indirect help from the Empire as well, including with 'invalid' Legionnaries released from duty & bolstering the Alik'r army. But let's not start a debate , lol
Most underrated human race in the game.
They are awesome swordsmiths and the females are very attractive to boot!
Must stick with current character... (I haven't yet played as a Redguard, not sure why, really. I like them a lot as NPCs/lore/etc.)
Well, lore-wise they're actually one of the more developed races of TES, drawing on influences as diverse as Morocco, Persia, and Pacific islands. That alone makes them pretty sound, in my opinion. Also their ancients knew sword techniques which could level cities and plunge entire landmasses into the sea, so...yeah...don't offend a Redguard is what I'm saying.
One of the best races alongside the Nords, Dunmer, Orcs and Bosmer. Though like the Bosmer they are severely underrated.
