How about aliens on motorcycles to appease the people that insist both must be in the next Fallout? :bonk:

If the next game happens say another 50 years after the events in New Vegas then whats to stop all the capitalists in the NCR from having set up industry which produces vital materials like iron/steel, rubber etc which the NCR plans to use for rebuilding society?? They are already doing stuff like mining quarries for building material anyways. Unless something happens which pushes NCR back in a very big way in california, NCR certainly should have developed some light transport (Something light and original inspired from an atv or a light jeep perhaps) which is mass produced in these many years. I know that beth/obsidian would want to shy away from having industry established again in the fallout lore because then it would seem that it isn't a wasteland anymore but I think that [censored] should start to get industrialised in a decade or two after New Vegas. After all, all the pre war knowledge of the sciences hasn't been lost and is there for humanity to pluck fruit from.

If Fallout is 50 years into the future, and industry is booming, then it's not fallout anymore.

I can see the game being 10 years from now, and times still being very hard. But 50 years with lots of industry?

In honesty, I think it would be cool to go to a place with even more destruction, ruins of a major city with groups of caravans.

Fallout is about rebuilding not destruction.

Look at all the games and see which ones are about destruction (F3) and which are about rebuilding (every other one).

Yes of course they're about rebuilding, but if it's about rebuilding I want to be the one helping the rebuilding, not playing through what Bethesda has set out for me. If the next game is entirely based on me rebuilding a part of the wastes, I'm game. But I better be able to rebuild it in a good and bad way.

I meant society as whole rebuilding.

Others rebuild, you just pick which one's build will survive and which will be destroyed.

Ok you still bring it back to destruction.. and I didn't really see what you were rebuilding in FO:NV.. it was mostly about the war and helping a certain faction, some side quests.

Things have to be pushed away or destroyed completely for other things to gain power.

You push the Legion back to help the NCR, you push the NCR back to help the Legion, you push both back to help House, or you push everybody back to help Yes Man.

Whatever you chose will affect everybody in the Mojave and most people in the southwest.

I guess in the end you 'rebuild' New Vegas, but either way there wasn't much interactions with the environment, besides for a small, 2 minute slide at the end telling what happened after the war.

You didn't rebuild yourself but you picked who would rebuild it which I see as enough interaction (more than F3).

Actually in F3 you fixed up the water AND rid the DC area of Mutants (I think?) Meh I need to play F3 again but I think thats what happened.

IMO, both are pretty big, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a DLC in the next Fallout (being maybe 20 years later) attaining to the DC area, showing how purified water and less mutants bring more people, and what not.

Well you do wipe out the Enclave, give them clean water, and take care of the supermutants but that's all you can do.

You can't help the Enclave (or some other faction take over), you can't pick what type of government you would want to rule the CW, and your choice at the end whether it's good or evil is made redundant and only those who picked good's choice matters.

That's true and I did enjoy FO:NV's choices and factions, but F3 is older and they weren't even thinking of the whole faction deal at the time

But that's not an excuse, there was reputation in the originals back in the late 90s.

And they did have choices in the game, they were just black and white good or evil options where the result was usually not much different from before.

How the hell did a thread about vehicles turn into a thread about interactivity?

I don't know, but I think that supermutants on some kind of large, armored bicycle swinging a bumper sword as they ride past would be neat. Scary, but neat.

Mutant Donkey would work out well in the end.

Though on topic, alternative fuel would be a problem to mass produce; even an combustion engine that would be able to use the fuel sparingly.

Then for proper design there would be the creation of molds to poor molten steel/iron into, production of furnaces in which can remove impurities from scrap, etc.

It would only make sense to see a large faction with any combustion engine/electric engine vehicles, due to them being able to produce its requirements. Though seeing tamed mutant animals for transportation would make sense as well.

Just take a put together cart with brahmin, a bit alike those seen on the United States movement to their western coats during the 1800s.

The perfect transportation for the smaller sandbox maps would the be the pink hoverboard from BttF2.

20% speed boost and float over water. the single greatest wild wasteland item ever.

What do you think about vehicles in the games to come?

I think no if it means racing around a sandbox map with your whatever vehicle. If vehicles were only for, and the only means to, fast travel, then yes.

Couldn't really do something like that unless it was powered by biodiesel. After all, the Great War came about because of the Resource Wars, where everyone was killing each other over what little oil was left. That's why the Highwayman ran on energy weapon ammo. I'm still not sure what Flamers are shooting...maybe some kind of thermite fluid?

just make it run of flamer fuel like the jet pack mod for fo3 did
