what do you think kids will think of us in the next 30 years

Post » Fri Jul 04, 2014 8:08 am

I think they'll think of us as the "pioneers" of everything they use

  • phones
  • touchscreens
  • flat screens
  • high speed rail
  • and much...MUCH more

They will think whatever we tell them to think and they won't question. Pretty much the way things are going.

High speed rail, pfft. Half the country runs on 40 year old pacers on ancient rails that are falling apart.

Probably they won't give a damn about pioneering anything, because none of that will seem important in 30 years. I hardly look back on my grandparents generation as the pioneers of TV. It's just a thing that happened.

Nothing. I don't have the time to thinkof the people of 30 years ago. Live in the present and think of the future!

The telephone was invented a long time ago, so I don't think anyone's feelings on that will change.

I doubt they'll think of this generation as "pioneers" of the common technology we use everyday and that everyone in 1st world countries has access to.
Because I know I don't consider the people who fisrt got to use a computer mouse, or a video game, or the wonderbra, to be pioneers of technology.

The pioneers are the people who invent the technology that leads to it being common usage. Like landing on the moon, a home computer, stem cell research, etc.
In other words, there are very few pioneers in one generation.

Depends on how old the kids are.

-12: We're old and stinky and make them eat vegetables.

13+: Why can't we just let them live their lives, they hate us and wish we'd die.

Some things never change.

30 years? Considering the direction society is going there probably won't be a 30 years. I weep for the future.

They will say what are those things and how could you live without the things they are using 30 years from now.

Phones are likely going to be non existent. Phones have been around for a long long time.

Touchscreens will be none existent since everything will likely be using virtual devices where you are not touching anything.

Flat Screens are likely gone just like the touchscreens since likely we will be wearing out television as glasses or maybe just using virtual 3d devices like they use in Star Wars but with much better graphics.

High Speed rail has been around for quite some time but it has never caught on and likely still has not since it will still be cars and planes as the dominant form of long range transportation.

Probably that we're old-fashioned and don't understand their life. Same old, same old.

Yeah, that point literally made me laugh out loud. I'm still waiting to be a pioneer of high speed rail in my lovely country.

They'll think of us as the stodgy, uncool old people telling them harshly to be back and in bed by midnight.

"Oh Dear God what did our ancestors do? Why must we be burden with this....http://static.tumblr.com/ghcxjws/CWdmax476/fire_hell_future_constantine_post-apocalyptic_city_ruins_armageddon_apocalypse_burned_cars_art_desktop_2100x1582_hd-wallpaper-1394.jpeg !!!!

This is my stance as well. To hell with reminiscing on the past, it's pointless, unproductive and ultimately not interesting.

"Back in my day we played 8-bit games and our controllers only had a dpad and two buttons...."

"Ancestor, how did you ever exist in a non-virtual environment?"

"Hahaha, stop wasting my time with such silly questions. You were taught in school how to use key words to find any answer you seek"

Doubt it, there been new stuff coming all the time and we don't really think of the people 30 years ago as pioneers because of the stuff that came then.

When I use my mobile phone today I don't go "they sure were pioneers inventing the first mobile phone 30 years ago back in the 80s", I just use it without giving it much thought. Or when I today start my Windows 7 computer I don't really spend time thinking "oh wow, it's been 30 years since the first Windows was released, Microsoft sure was pioneering the home computer industry 30 years ago", again, I just use the computer without reflecting much over it's history. Or whenever I use the tap water I don't think about it's century old technology and how crazy smart they were to come up with it, I just want some water. Or when I'm in a car I don't think of the century old technology either, I just want to my destination.

Whatever they use 30 years from now, it's stuff that most people take for granted and just use and not reflect over it's history.

What kids 30 years from now will learn about today in school, are mostly negative stuff I suppose, as usual. The war in the middle east, the pollution, the politicians making stupid decisions they see the side effects of and stuff like that.
