What do you think is the best they have added/changed/remove

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 11:32 pm

What does everyone else think best thing Bethesda has done to Skyrim that we know about?

Be it the addition of dragons, the removal of classes, the ability to dual wield weapons and spells, or the ability to use dragon shouts.

Personally I am stuck between the ability to dual wield and the removal of classes.

Sorry if this is a repeat thread I just never saw it on the forum and thought why not add it as my first forum.

Radiant story definitely sounds interesting, and I really like what's been said about dual wielding.

Best addition: Dual casting/wielding spells. I will be playing a mage for the first time because of it.
Best subtraction: The class system.

Merging cuirass and grieves, so we can have more NPC's on screen at once. I've always wanted livelier cities.

I love the removal of classes and attributes.
While I love Morrowind, Oblivion and other games with this system.

I think it makes the mantra of the game "What you do, defines you" true.
Also I think it adds a (hate using this word) "Casual" spin onto the game which, allows new players to get into the game, while including enough depth to satisfy more "hardcoe" players.

At least for me anyway :)

The improved AI is a plus. The new Alchemy system is either going to be awesome, or I'll hate it. I'm glad they got rid of classes. Usually 3 hours into a character I decide I don't like x and would rather do y, but it's kinda to late at that point. Skyrim has fixed this, I believe.

I like the much improved crafting. There will be a lot of time spent in-game doing a varitey of these type activities.

Also, the relationship/marriage addition is very much appreciated.

From what we've heard, the magic, and alchemy seem to be greatly improved.

The character creation also seems to be good, according to some of the screens and preset images.

I think the devs have done a great deal to make this a very entertaining game. My thanks to them.

Waiting to give some of the changes a try will be difficult.

Like many of you, I anxiously await 11-11-11.

removing classes finally you are what you play no blueprints to follow just play and become powerful in the skills you love.

Best removal : Never did like classes in non party based games.
Worst removal : Item degradation.
Best addition : Probably Radiant Story. Though perks meaning unique end game characters is pretty cool, imo.
Worst addition : Health regeneration.
However, I really think the good will heavily outweigh the bad. Nothing is perfect, but a new Elder Scrolls sure comes close for me.

Mysticism is no longer a school of magic, but the spells under it have been moved to other schools of magic
Acrobatics and Athletics skills have been removed (you now have a fixed jumping height, running speed is increased by upgrading stamina, also depends on the armor type used) :shakehead:
Skyrim will have a total of 18 skills (Oblivion had 21, Morrowind had 27 )
Enchanting is back
No Major/Minor Skills. (every skill advancement will contribute to leveling up.)
No Birth Signs.
Guardian Stones exist that allow you to increase the speed at which you raise certain skills.
Advancing a skill from 30-31 will contribute more to a level-up than advancing a skill from 10-11.
A soft level-cap at 50, meaning you can still level-up after this, but it will go extremely slow. A mathematical cap exists around level 75.
Leveling is faster than in previous games.
Eight attributes from Oblivion (Strength, Endurance, etc.) have been "removed." The effects from these attributes have been moved to other areas (skills and perks).
At each level you gain a small amount of health, magicka, and stamina; and the choice to increase one of them by more.
6 Magic Schools: Destruction, Alteration, Conjuration, Restoration, Enchanting, & Illusion.
There's a total of around 220 Perks (Including Ranks). - For instance, one perk will decrease the sound of your footsteps.
It is possible to raise all skills to 100 but not possible to get all perks.
Pickpocket is a separate skill (in contrast to Oblivion where a successful pickpocket attempt depended on Sneak).
Hand to Hand is no longer a skill. It has been confirmed however that bar fights using your fists are possible in Skyrim.
There will be a One Handed skill. (Blade, axe, etc are now specialized with perks)
There won't be any spears in Skyrim.

The additional freedom you have got during the character creation, like the body slider and stuff. And beards.

Radiant Story looks really interesting something similar to Less Generic NPCs Project and Daggerfall random quests,
Best changed is dialogues and factions systems and perhaps leveling
Best removal is speechcraft minigame and alchemy autofilter.
Merging cuirass and grieves, so we can have more NPC's on screen at once. I've always wanted livelier cities.

Have nothing with number of armor slots, I have mods for Morrowind and Oblivion thats add summary more then double NPC then vanilla game has and game still looks much livelier especially Morrowind with LGNPC, schedules and idle animations.

I like...

- the perk system, also that the perk tree encourages you to specialise which = replayability
- that additional effects have been added to frost, fire, shock and blade, blunt, axe
- character models
- smithing
- enchanting
- speech (fingers crossed)
- improved AI
- beards (about time)

SPOILER

- the idea of the civil war and taking sides (against imperial legion :whistling: )

Best addition: Dragons or Dual wielding
Worst: Yet to find or remember (and if someone reminds me its not that much of a deal)
Best Subtraction: Classes
Worst: probably armor degradation, not that feel strongly about it

I think overall the best thing they removed are the stats. While I generally like stat systems, the old systems had some annoying quirks. I personally don't like stat systems where some stats do universally useful stuff for example, like the Strength, Speed and Endurance stats in the older Elderscrolls games. They increase your carry weight, run speed and hitpoints - which are all things absolutely every character can benefit from, but for some characters their abilities were supported by raising these stats, while other characters had to tack them on to their build to enjoy those benefits. In the meanwhile, a character who only occasionally casts a healing spell could easily do without investing heavily into willpower and intelligence, neither of those stats raised any core attributes that everyone needs all the time.
So, having removed the stat system makes the game a little fairer in that regard, and I like that.
