What do you think is the canon ending?

***SPOILERS***

So what do you guys think will be the canon ending of this game (for future games)? Do you think NCR took over, or do you think Vegas went independent? I kind of think the NCR did, since most of the game is spent making them the good guys, but I'm not really sure.

I hated Mr. House for some reason. Seemed....arrogant, and like a dictator. I sure hope not :(

I think Mr. House is the most likely victor, it certainly seems to be the most interesting if a later game is made that features the NCR. I could also see the NCR victory being made canon but it seems unlikely that they'd go with the Legion and Yes Man would be difficult given it's flexibility.

Well, Dictator is an often misused word. But I think House as an Autocratic ruler would be great, I mean, look at what House did in the 250-60 years of his life. He founded the biggest robotics company in Pre-War America at the age of 22 and ran it until the War, graduated from a well famed college in Massacheusiajsdk at the age of 20 (I cant spell it screw it), then he purchases the Lucky 38 and manages to single handedly save Las Vegas from 77 Atomic Warheads, and then he manages to turn The Strip from squatterville into an echo of it's Pre-War glitz and gloss. Honestly, I'm sure my ego would be swollen with such a resume as that xD

@Hungry- I agree, I think Canonically, NCR will lose, as the game seems to be setting it up that the NCR, in a year or twenty years, will collapse. Repeating the past and etc, just like the Pre-War government collapsed.

I wish Legion would win but I think that they're going to keep dragging out the NCR stroyline more. :meh:

NCR's had their limelight, now shove 'em off and let's get a new story.

I think CL should Canonically lose, but have a new Fallout game set in Legion territory and show that under their harsh rules, the region is safe despite its strict unforgiving rulers.

I f they let the Legion win they could make another game about the core region but i think it will be the house yes-man ending because in that barley anything changes.

I don't think NCR is done with but I do agree about seing more Legion in Future games or DLC. I want to see the Legion building towns like the NCR. As long as I only see them destroying I won't see them as a facion worthy of stopping NCR's advance.

I don't think the NCR is set to collapse - at least not entirely. However I do think that the NCR has over-extended itself and loosing the Mojave and having to re-consolidate would let them preserve the sense of post-war progress while keeping it tarnished and strongly post-apocalyptic. I think having a troubled NCR is a better story/setting foundation than a disintegrated NCR.

During FONV we learn about the economic, social, and military problems that the NCR is having holding the area and even with Mr. House and the Legion out of the picture most of these problems will persist so this seems to be a less fruitful direction for the story to take. Of course if the situation in the Mojave hasn't changed dramatically that still makes for interesting backstory for a game set elsewhere in the same general region and such a region would have plenty of its own issues to develop.

I wouldn't be surprised to see either declared the canonical winner. Giving this to the Legion would be great for a game that wanted to explore the Legion itself but I don't know how well that would work out. Having the Legion reprise it's role as an antagonist doesn't sound terribly interesting but making them core to the story would turn off a lot of players. The Legion could capture the Mojave and then evolve in to something more palatable but this still feels unlikely.

I have to agree, I don't support the Legion nor the NCR, but I have to admit, The Legion were obviously railroaded as the bad guys in New Vegas. Do you want to side with Caesar Legion in F:NV? Sure go ahead, but be ready to lose access to some of the best merchants in the game.

@Hungry- I feel that like the House/Benny issue, NCRs threat is closer to home, it's made clear that many of the higher ups in the NCR Government and NCR Society are so self interested they don't care how reckless their tactic is, so long as its possible they win. Kimball, Oliver and Moore and good examples of these in the game.

Mr. House is a fascist dictator in the traditional sense. When Mr. House states, at the end of the game,
Spoiler
that he would make sure that the monorail train runs on time
, I think that's the game maker's cue as to how they intend us to view Mr. House. The only difference is that Mr. House is only interested in power for its own sake. He is very intelligent and he is also beyond being a mere human being.

I think and hope for Legion, It would finally bring something completely new to the series, there would'nt be (many) NCR in the game, No BoS, No Enclave, just new factions completely..

Legion are definity the antagonist but their ending did have some surprises. I was thinking the whole Mojave would end up like Nipton. The game did also show the Legion did win some battles with NCR like searchlight. I am still hoping for a DLC were we see one Legion outpost town that is not all slaves and slave keepers or a bunch of shacks.

I wasnt saying it's bad to want to be Legion, I'm saying that IIRC, the only Legion merchant (in terms of convenience) is the trader from Arizona

@Mike- What kind of Insane Troll Logic is that?

@Chad- No, it's because of Bennys drive for greed and supremacy that you get shot.

NCR would not be gone just in the Mojave area. Any advance east would be stopped for good (very along time if ever).

What do you mean?
Spoiler
"Keeping the trains running on time," is a classic, almost cliched statement regarding fascist dictators. That is what Mr. House said. That's why I'm putting this in spoiler quotes, because its part of the game's ending.
And what else are Mr. House's Securitrons other than military stormtroopers? What makes Mr. House, sort of, a good guy is that he has the interest of New Vegas in his heart.

Uhhhhh, He meant the actual Monorail that runs to New Vegas. I have NEVER hear some clcihed statement about a monorail.

Houses Securitrons are no different than how NCR or the Legion use their men as battle fodder. House obviously has the interests of Vegas at heart, but that doesnt mean in the interest of each individual person. You're looking at it all from the wrong perspective.

Of course he meant the monorail that runs to New Vegas, but he also says that he will make sure it runs on time. The game developers made a reference to the cliche. And judging from the ending, Mr. House really is a fascist dictator.
