What do you think the first mod will be?

Post » Mon Sep 20, 2010 1:12 am

I think Female body replacer,Because it happened in the last 2 games. And people need to be naked when killing mutants and dragons. IMO.

I think it'll be something simpler than any body mod - people will need time to see how the new bodies are, how they're articulated, how they interact with armor & clothing models in the new engine, etc....

Meanwhile, I'm sure someone will get annoyed by some small thing, and immediately make a mod to fix it. (Like, turning off quest markers. Or fast travel.)

The "I made this cool magic sword by taking an in-game model and giving it HUGE magic bonuses! It's in a chest right where you start!" mod is also pretty easy and quick to make.

----

Edit: just checked Fallout 3 Nexus. FO3 came out Oct 28. The first mods, on Oct 30, were "no quest markers on compass," "no quest waypoints on map," and "no NPC markers on compass." :)

Edit2: and TES Nexus. Oblivion came out March 20. March 22, there was a "no fast travel" mod. :D (it was second... first was a portable trashcan you could use to destroy junk you didn't want? Odd.)

I hope that some one moves the cross hair and sneak indicator right away I hate the camera being offset to the side rather than behind my avatar in third person. Moving looks stupid and aiming is awkward.

Having the sneak eye in the center of the hud was really annoying in oblivion.

First mod? Probably something simple like a gameplay tweak or a new item.

I'm fully expecting (and hoping for) some improved facial customization options fairly early on though. As improved as characters will look compared to Oblivion, I still think modders will be able to do a better job.

Camera fix or somesuch. Small gameplay tweak like many here have said. If they have the infernal "plastic sheen on magic items" or "camera turns AFTER you turn" that would be my HOPE, but not my bet.

If not in the first day, it will come out in the first week: A simplistic class mod, or a starting pack mod.
At the beginning you've got to choose from a list of Oblivion/Morrowind classes, and you'll get bonuses on some skills and starting equipment and spells according to your chosen class. Easy to make...

Let's be cynical, either H cup briasts, or chainmail bikini, the latter with 50 points of resist frost, you gotta keep it 'believable'.

As has been said, nvde mod. But honestly i don't think there will be just 1 mod released first. If it is, there will be one that follows in about 1-3 seconds.

A body replacer will take a while and it won't be a lot of use until a clothes/armour replacer is done as well
I'd expect to see some hair mods before it, especially since people will reuse hairs from previous games
The MW & Oblivion hairs have been redone for FO3, FONV and DAO

Female body replacer took a decent time before showing up, the topless mod came very fast as it was included in the package and would be easy to make anyway.

First mods will probably be nvde mods, some fixes on annoyances and some top armor and weapon cheat mods.

The first mod in general will probably be some sort of stat tweak. Those are relatively easy and don't require any additional assets to make.

The VERY first mod? It will be something simply like making it so you get more perks per level, or that kind of thing, no doubt. Thats how it was for NV. Then I would say within the first FEW days is when all the new models and whatnot will come out.
