What do you want most in your Collector's edition!

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 12:18 pm

If Skyrim's CE comes with a figurine I will cry. I don't want a figurine making my game case ridiculously bulky. If you absolutely have to include a figurine, can it be separate to the game case? I want Skyrim to fit on my shelf. I don't want to get a crate that has to be put in a cupboard out of the way somewhere.

In game items would piss me off as I see them as removing content or potential content from the retail game and making it "exclusive", which leaves some people who buy the regular edition with a bad taste in their mouth as they don't feel like they're getting the complete experience.

I really want a stylish case. Something tin. I felt that Perfect Dark Zero's CE case was the definition of swish. I wouldn't want a sleeve, but something like it please.

Second for me is the art book. Third would be the cloth map, but you didn't give me a third option :(

I don't want the letter opener. I open letters with my hands. They do the job admirably. And I rarely get letters. I can't open emails with my miniature glass claymore. The soundtrack I'm not fussed about being included in the CE. If it's exceptional then I will gladly pay extra for it on its own.

I'll certainly be buying. First, the Cloth Map, then it's a tie between the letter opener and the figurine. A glass claymore letter opener is just too cool. The thing I want least is in game items.

A map as detailed as Morrowind's was. Damn, you could see even small cave entrances on tiny islands, I loved that map. I had it on my wall to the left of my computer, so I stopped the game from time to time and looked att the map. Thoose where the days....

I really liked the coin from Oblivion, it was perfect. But I hope they have the good sense not to include a pewter dragon. I can buy those at any cheap New Age/Incense store.

What I'd really like is a game case that's made of something like fake leather, sort of like the cover of the pocketbook that came with Oblivion. Made into the shape of a book, of course.

I don't want a pewter statue. For those who love collecting those, that's good and I hope for your sake you get what you want. Personally, I think they're overdone and I just don't enjoy them myself. I also don't want exclusive content. If there is one trend in the industry I loathe right now, it's the whole, "Here's some special content for buying a special version of the game *Two months later* Here's some 108kb paid DLC to unlock said content on the disc, since it was already there all along!" trend.

What I want most is another coin or a cloth map. Maybe something more specific to Skyrim, though. Trollbone helmet? :)

Can't say I care for any of your items. I'm fine with just a sturdy paper map. Whatever Bethesda gives us, it needs to be somewhat useful, like the lunch box for Fallout 3. Obviously it needs to make sense for TES, so maybe some sort of relic with draconic inscribed on it.

heres what i want... i want a code or something that i can enter in to get either some free DLC that comes out later or a big discount/free code for the official expansion that hasnt been announced but they always make.... on top of that i do want something tangible to come with it, im not into figurines or letter openers and wont listen to the music when not in game... so i guess ill take one or more of the fallowing, an art book, cool upgraded map to the one that will come with the normal game, and/or lore books. (im also assuming it will come in a cool case hopefully made of metal)

Changed my mind. I vote skooma pipe.

Now, I'm not sure what the laws are in your state, but I'm guessing moon sugar is a controlled substance. And they can't legally label it a "skooma pipe," only as a "smoking accessory for tobacco use only."

Actually, I'd prefer a super-detailed paper map like the one that shipped with Morrowind to most cloth maps. To my way of thinking that map really set the gold standard. I used it constantly as I tried to find my way to different places. I'd also prefer to get the soundtrack on CD-ROM.

I really dislike the current trend to give special items to folks pre-ordering/buying specific editions/buying from specific merchants.

Figurine, Cloth Map, In game Items, exclusive too Collector's Edition

What I hate most is in game items of a CE, it feels cheap/cheesy and do wish companies would stop. If I pay $70+ for a CE, I don't want to see pointless items in a game I could probably and easily find later on. Also as someone else pointed out, Soundtrack... on a CD, no memory stick thank you would be great to be included as well. Actual CD and not memory stick would present itself better.

The thing I want most is DLC as long as it is not useless and lame. If they have an extra quest that takes you to an area you can only access in the collector's edition......then that it what I want. If it is just some kind of armor or weapon then I don't really care and I would prefer a cloth map.

In game items should never be exclusive in my opinion. If you buy the game, you should get its content. I liked FFXII's tin case.

I also like the map and soundtrack ideas.

With the way collector's edition prices are going though I'll probably pass. $10 more for FFXII's was fine for me. They aren't getting $30+ dollars more out of me though. I'd hesitate to pay more than $15 more.

I guess im the only one that want something like this:

*The game (duh)
*Artbook
*Lorebook (all elder scrolls lore up until V)
*Behind the scenes
*Music
*Throw in random physical item (coin, deck of cards, amulet, map (not a napkin with a badly made map *Cough DA cough*))

I don't want anything too flashy. A behind the scenes DVD, Soundtrack, Artbook or Cloth map...I'd pay extra for any combination of those.

1. Cloth Map
2. Art Book
3. Figurine

My favourite collectors edition game that I have seen is the Halo: Reach Legendary edition. It came with a statue, a map, in-game content, and an awesome journal.

Quality maps are the most important thing for me. I love fantasy maps in particular and spend a lot of time drawing my own. Having something akin to the Pocket Guide to the Empire would actually be the second thing on my list, which would push the art book down to 3rd place I suppose. A coin or something similar would be a cool addition too, instead of a figurine.

No matter what's in the collectors edition though, I definitely plan on buying it.

I'd really like a Pewter figure, and a Dwemer memory stick would be pretty awesome :D Maybe preloaded with a more modern controlled version of Arena and Daggerfall as well as the soundtrack? StarCraft did it!

But I wouldn't really like in-game items. It's single player, so you can't really show off or anything... it's just something the non-CE-ers would get annoyed with.

An artbook would be awesome, too.

There should be an "Other" in the poll. What if I don't want anything you mentioned?

I believe there is already a thread on this but as I mentioned there:
1:Cloth map of Skyrim
2:The dragon seen on the cover of GI in necklace form
3:A book to teach the language of the dragon.
