What do you want to see in Fallout 4?

Post » Fri Dec 04, 2009 2:01 am

More interactivity. Why shouldn't you be able to take Carlos to the clinic in Megaton, for example? Why can't you arm Brian of Gray Ditch, so he could aid you to aid himself? Why can't you get a bullet proof vest for Dog Meat?

Also, why not animals like Godzilla and Rodan; they, too are '50's icons of Atomic Destruction. Also, why not M48 tanks, Starfighter F104 jets, M14 rifles, Mauser 714s, and other weaponry that were common in the 1950s, too?

Well because the fallout universe is loosely based on the '50's in our time line. More 'old weapons' is just more crap I need to lug around.
Basically I want to see some sort of storyline based on these crashed aliens, maybe an area 51 that we can explore to give us some more background on them.
I want to be able to customise the weapons, like putting a scope on the hunting rifle for example. Not just finding a scoped rifle and using it. Get rid of stupid weapons, .32 cal pistol utterly useless only fires 6 rounds and has less damage than the 10mm.
I want to be able to wear armour without training for it. OK training makes wearing it easier, but clumsy me could wear it anyway as long as I was strong enough to wear it and smart enough to understand it.

A non linear story line. Quest paths are pointless time wasters No level cap!

Get rid of anything that when killed doesn't stay dead, children are a good example of this. A kid city, very Lord of the flies that is, the only advlt in Lord of the Flies was the dead pilot. I shot the crap out of Sentinel Lyons and she didn't die, just went unconscious.

Our new hero should not be a vault dweller, instead should be a wastelander or BoS outcast, or even an Enclave deserter/traitor. Better yet, make s/he an android on the run and finding sentience. Something interesting, with a storyline that doesn't involve saving a relative. It should take place in the whole of the US and Canada and including South America. So then we need to either drive or have a mode of travel to reach these remote areas.
We no longer need a pip boy it is built in to our HUD, which would include the VATS system.

Because weapons from the 1950s were 120 years old by the time the bombs hit. There obviously weren't that many of them anymore, just like there weren't many Civil War weapons around during World War II.

The Hunting Rifle looks older than the M14.

I hope the setting for Fallout 4 would be a living world. I mean there is no way that several towns are living on scavenged food from 200 years ago. There should be hunters, smiths for guns and tools, farmers, resources that towns take care of and maybe even fight over. Towns should be in the process of rebuilding for some form of commerce, let alone a universal currency to exist.

Better writing is also welcomed, better dialog even!! go through Three-Dogs' dialog for examples of don'ts

[Spoiler Alert!]

Research, even a trip through the internet, is a must. It is really hard to immerse oneself into a game where the main quest involves a long and difficult process that can be other wised simplified by filtration using earth [read dirt]. And this info came from Nuclear War Survival Skills a book publish by Oak Ridge National Laboratory, US Department Of Energy in the 1980s.

here's a copy for reference.

Canada and/or Alaska, or midwest for the location.
Longer main quest and the ability to continue past it.
More voices
More quests
Romance/Love interests
Weapon/Armor models that age over time, visually.
Male hokers (why should the females miss out on some fun?)

Or just go all out and create a theater. =)

I would like to see in Fallout 4 would be taking places in the Midwest or Alaska.
Midwest Ideal: 3 different factions you pick with one you start at. One who is for NCR one who is against NCR and the last one Neutral to NCR and who you help deiced what happens. You decide who gets stronger and who get weaker. Maybe you can get them all to work together or have them start a war with NCR, even the ability to defeat them.

Alaska Ideal: You start in a Military vault; your mission is to restore the Alaska pipeline for the Enclave.
But your vault it hit by super mutants before the enclave orders the mission. As you make your way around Alaska you ran in to towns starved for resource like food or electricity you decide who get what resource even what the enclave gets if any.

Mini games like Dices Poker and Taxes Hold' tm in the towns.

A hunted Vault because they experimented to find the human soul or to study the Paranormal. would be cool

Continuing from my previous idea, I think that it would be interesting actually if there were more than one advanced state in the continent - on both coasts, NCR and some other, with basically the same goals; eradicating slavery, bringing democracy and modernization to the Wasteland, but ideologically still different enough to be unwilling to unite their efforts, making both inefficient in their tasks.

And between them, in the Midwest and flyover states in general, the horrors of the Wasteland continue, and in there the Raiders keep control, cheerfully taxing or destroying settlements as they see fit, capturing and selling slaves, and turning the place into a nightmare-version of feudal nation. And among them is one bigger than the rest, who has gotten his hands on some serious pre-War hardware and enslaved some scientists to repair and use the stuff. The result? Raiders in power armor, among other things. And unless the player can stop it, this guy will become the postapocalypic Ghengis Khan, destroying and conquering the more advanced civilizations on the coasts, bringing back the Dark Ages of warlords.

How's that for an epic plot? And it doesn't even need the Enclave or the Super Mutants, any more. Both have gotten a bit overused by now, in any case.

better graphics/physics engine designed specifically for FO4... none of this recycled crap. don't get me wrong, fallout 3 looks good but its not up to par with other next-gen games.

Let me just say I mostly loved fallout 3 as a post apocalyptic survival and exploration game. As an RPG it lacked.

1. As many NPC characters as possible that I can actually care about. I couldn't care less about any of the characters in FO3; least of all my father.
a. Story lines and quests for each companion.
2. At least four more quest hubs with many more quests; and no huge areas without quests ie Fort Bannister, Dunwich building, etc..
3. A truly epic main story line. Main story was the worst part of the game after Rivet City.
4. Real consequences for good neutral and evil. I can't believe there were none in FO3 except which companions you can get.
5. Real consequences of which special stats to take.
6. Better difficulty balance. Game is perfectly balanced around lvl 4-5 then it gets way too easy even on very hard.

This is something, maybe not as important, but more of a personal thing i'd like to see... JETPACKS!
And since i'm on PS3, maybe a tool that would ake use of my Eye Toy! It's a hastle to take my time to make my character look like me! I mean, if Tony Hawk games have it, why not Fallout which has waaay deeper customisation?

and for the love of God please do not show [Karisma] or [Intelligence] next to a dialogue line.

I really liked that in the game, its nice to know what new options your skills does give you and its not unrealistic for a person to know if their reply is especially charismatic or intelligent.

Why should it be hidden so you never know what new you get?

4. Longer mainquest.

YES!! I was playing through and though I was halfway done. Then all of a sudden I had beaten the game and credits come one. WTF! It is an amazing game though.

Too bad here the "Intelligence" options often should be labeled "Captain Obvious" instead.

be able to get to a high level but only get a perk every 3 levels like in the other games.

More perks from the others games. Backstab, scout, Gunner and Road warrior if vehicles are added, leader, and definitely the ghost

Vehicles or mounts. riding a brahmin would be cool. an el camino with a turret it the back would be.......... amazing

more then one follower. i want a to be part of a group of raiders.

Huge map, lot ore people in the world.

Groups of traveling raiders.

random attacks on towns and such that you could defend or help the raiders.

Multi player but limited. to like 1-3 players

LOTS of weapons and armor

Upgrades for armor and weapons

More customization. i dont want to look like fifty other people on the waste.

Jobs and shops that you can own,

Groups and factions that you can rise to the top in as well with being able to run/ own towns.

Being able to START a town or civilization.

1. Better combat.
2. Less linear gameplay. Sure you can walk around shooting people or do side quests but i cant join up with other factions. How cool would it be to join up with the raiders and go attack a super mutant camp or an enclave squad?
3. Better side missions
4. Weapon customisation.
5.better factions. (factions you can actually join up with and get quests and go on raids with and stuff.)
6. Being able to have your own fort or town.
7. being able to start a faction of your own.
8. being able to run a business and have people work for you and stuff. If you have a hi science and repair skill you could build/repair robots. Hi barter and speach, yu could be a trader.
9. A more believable year. 200 years after the war? everything would have been picked clean and people would be growing crops and stuff not just going down to the super duper mart and picking up some sugerbombs. Lets say... 50-80 years after the war.

How about a different location other than america? That could open up a whole new lot of factions, missions and weapons. I wouldn't mind seeing how Africa or England or Australia is doing.
Of course, then there wouldnt be any vaults, pipboys, BOS, Enclave or super mutants...

Actually i think australia would be a good setting. i doubt australia + new zealand would have been nuked as heavily as most other countries. after the war some people in Australia would have been totally unaffected but soon would totally collapse from panick and lack of supplies. Some people would have survived this and after a while they have some crops and farms and [censored] going they spread out. Other survivors from another untouched city become raiders because they arn't organised enough to start up farms. Australian military would replace the brotherhood (I imagine at the time of the great war they would of had power armour too)

The enclave would have known there would be some countries that wern't totally wiped out and obviously would have some presence there.

And of course there would be numerous other factions. Mad max style gangs perhaps. (some good, some evil)

Total lack of super mutants and vaults though...

Hmm...

A secret location where the better looking (and less annoying) ladies of FO3 dance in bikinis to some song, and deathclaws in suit and hats and staffs step dance to the music. It would be sooo awesome.

I hate to disagree but Bethesda has pretty much said there will be future games. Why buy a franchise just to put out one game? Fallout is their new cash cow.

Yes, they did confirm that there will eventually be a Fallout 4. And given the sales of FO3, they'd be stupid not to make one.

he one big thing for me would be dumping of FPS style fire fights, all shooting shoud be in VATS. I know alot of people would go Nooooooooooo, but lets be honest you can kill any thing out side of VATS. with ease your gun abilities are completely irrelevant outside of VATS, if you got it lined up your going to hit it, this in turn would increase the need for action points and also gun skills. Hand to hand might become a bit of an issue, but a double level VATS system, so you habe your standard 5 action points to fire normal unaimed, and 6 AP for using Aimed VATS. Im playing fallout 1, 2 and Tactics again at the moment to remind me why I fell in love with the franchise in the first place. So FO4 dump free shooting and go to a whole VATS only system.

Plus sort out the skill levels for lock pick, sneak, science and repair.
Dump the level cap, dump the increasing special, and go back to the more points you put onto a skill the more points it costs, you could stay with the 100% system but up to 33 points you get for 1 point, 33 too 66 costs you 2 points per level and 66 to 100 costs you 3 points.

Also tag skills, did tag skills actualy do any thing in FO3? In the early FOs it gave you 2 point increase for the price of 1 point. Thats what it should have done in FO3, hope fully it will in FO4.

Cant think of any thing else id like to see in FO4 other than a lot bigger quest tree, with more to do an more variables, heck use the Van Buren templates and make FO4 on that.
