What do you want to see in Fallout 4?

Post » Fri Dec 04, 2009 7:44 am

" So FO4 dump free shooting and go to a whole VATS only system."

they would have to FIX THE ACCURACY OF THE SNIPER IN VATS ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They need to fix alot any way, I do like the game but it just dont feel as RPG as it could be, feels much more FPS with a bit of an RPG bolt on.

Wouldn't that be taking a step back though? The system they have currently has a lot of potiential. It's easy to use and it draws in the casual player more so than had it been based more on rpg elements.

What I would like to see is a new villain. Perhaps maybe introduce the people who were messing with FEV before the Enclave were.

Uh, I'll list up some of my ideas:

-Weathers effects, chaotic storms in the wasteland would be so awesome.

-More stuff you can recognize from FO1 and FO2. ( Such as Dogmeat, it brought a smile to my face when I first saw him in the
Spoiler
Junkyard
.

-Vehicles, a car or motorbike would be smooth.

-More dungeons in class with the ones in FO3, FO3 took a large step forward if you compare its dungeons to Oblivion.

-Better MQ and better storyline, the ending of FO3 MQ felt like it was written in a panic rush that I almost facepalmed for real.

-Polished FPS system.

-Groin shots, I still don't understand why it wasn't implemented in FO3...

-More unique weapons, Oblivion had lots of these while FO3 only has a few.

-More sidequests.

-Bigger world.

I Agree with many of the ideas here.

One thing I loved about Fo2 was that if travelling through some harsh areas of the desert was too difficult, you could always work as a caravan guard. man i loved that! there's so much stuff I miss from Fo2 that COULD be incorporated in 3d...

The FPS 3d graphics are wonderful for exploring, but for combat...horrible. I still don't want Fo3 to be an action game.

I wanna see an awkward moment in the middle of the wastes between you and amata.
I wanna be able to drive
I wanna be able to replace my body with robo-parts
I wanna have the chance to become a Goulie
I wanna be able to gain freaky mutations
I wanna have guns that evolve
I wanna see a mission based on the aliens
I wanna get decent haircuts for girls
I wanna see a DeathClaw engineering facility

But what I would really like to know is how is the rest of the world coping. I mean was America the only country that got hit or was it everywhere. What does Post-Apocalyptic London look like? Or Glasgow? Why can't a game be set in Glasgow for a change!?!

Fallout- Get this - Set around Glasgow!!!

Most weapons would be melee, bottles, knifes stuff like that.
You could well have fun running around St. Enochs centre slashing Neds.
Raiders would all have neddy accents "Ho you, your gettin' chibbed" :biglaugh:

Robots will have Sean Connery accents. How awsome's that.

Yes, they did confirm that there will eventually be a Fallout 4. And given the sales of FO3, they'd be stupid not to make one.

when and where did they say. id like to read up on it.

I would like to see a far more in depth story line with more quests aligned to the main quest line.
The side quests for reward of specializes items, armor and weapons.
Character limits as far as weapons are concerned not the current carry every weapon you can but a specialist ie. if you carry a shotgun then no rifle, sniper rifle no rocket launcher I am sure you get my gist.

So turning it into call of duty after a nuclear dawn!
RPG not FPS.
Ammo weights would be nice though so you are only able to carry so much ammo, this would reduce the amount of weapons you carry.
Also after playing fallout 1 & 2 again, i have noticed that when tryign to trade for stuff there are some stupidly high cap levels for some things, in FO3 the most expensive thing seems to be redecorating your room.
Increasing costs of weapons and ammo would also adjust the amount of stuff you carried, as youd not be able to afford it, tie this in with the whole repair system (which though a good idea needs work) you would have a very different game play experience as you would have to make a lot more choices in whatyou pick up and keep.

I'd like to see a game structure that is more in line with encouraging the type of playstyle that Bethesda is going for. For example, if they're doing the open-world exploration thing, I'd like to see a game where the main quest and side quests didn't feel quite so much like completely separate and unconnected elements. (Not to say I didn't enjoy parts of either in Fallout 3...) I just think there has to be a way to have a main quest that doesn't sort of require the player to completely ignore it for lengths of time if they want to get everything they can out of the exploration elements.

My suggestion would be something with a central hub area which is where most of the main story takes place, with primary goals that require extensive exploration to complete them. Here's an example:

Let's say you are playing a Vault Dweller again. This time you're sent out of the Vault in search of some ancient tech to solve all of your problems. (Yeah, sort of like all the past Fallouts, but it does tend to serve as a decent hook to get you out into the world.) Maybe this time it's not a GECK or a Water Chip. Maybe there's rumours of some very serious piece of technology in some fabled research facility that you need for some reason. (Doesn't matter why, really, only that you need to find it.)

So the first portion of the game is about digging up clues to this mythical place. Which requires running around to various locations doing side quests with hints as a reward. Let's say this facility is buried and purposefully hidden, like an Area 51 or something, so you could even have passed right by it and not noticed. Once you locate this facility, you notice that it's going to take some extensive work to get into this place. It's quite extensive, parts of it have caved in and require some heavy-duty excavation. Not to mention all of the existing security precautions and the like. The pattern would be going out into the Wastes to find some help or gain enough experience to get farther into the facility. Then returning and exploring the next level you open up until you come to the next obstacle. At which point you have to go back out to search out help.

That way you could have main quest objectives, but run into any number of side quests along the way. And many of those side quests could also help tie into the main quests. People you help out in the wastes could be recruited to your cause to help you in your efforts. You could even end up with the beginnings of a small settlement in the excavation area around the facility, setting up a vital trading point where you sell off some of the scavenged items you unearth. You could even end up enlisting the help of any number of factions, forming tentative alliances with them or playing them off of each other.

There's plenty of leeway in a setup like that, too. You don't have to a Vault Dweller, maybe you're sent out from your Town or Tribe to find this place. Or maybe one day while searching for useful items in the ruins outside of your town you stumble upon this place. The facility could be anything at all, as well as what you're trying to find down there.

I think the structure would work pretty well for a game like this, though. Each obstacle you hit in your exploration of the facility would send you off to find more side quests, while still keeping you tied into the main plot because you'd be waiting to see what you can find in the next level down. And this way you wouldn't have to be worried about rushing through the main quest before the game ends, because you could only do so much at a time.

Anyway, that's my 2 bottlecaps, for now.

The Main Quest needs to be less linear, have multiple pathways and be branching (as do all the other quests, Fallout 3 had no branching questlines whatsoever)

I will not go in to any ranting about what I hated about Fallout 3 but instead talk about what I want to see in Fallout 4. No particular order, everything is important:

1. More factions to ally with and make career in. Fallout 3 had slavers, the Tenpenny tower etc but none of those could really be considered a faction. There was no career possibility. Give us several factions with lots of quests, which will let you advance in status within the faction and also affect the game to a greater extent.
2. More complex dialogue. Also, let Intelligence and charisma play a greater role, and for the love of God please do not show [Karisma] or [Intelligence] next to a dialogue line.
3. Bigger map. Spread out the stuff more. Having everything so close together is not realistic.
4. Longer mainquest.
5. Better story.
6. Put the game on the west coast so that part of the game lets us visit the places from Fallout 1/2 and see what happened there.
7. Make NPC followers more interesting. Make NPC-related quests. Give them more personality, let them comment the environment etc

1. Being able to jump properly eg: out tight spots I found a hole in the rocks near Megaton which I couldn't get out of had to reload .
2. The climbing ability see no. 1.
3. a greater array of weapons and armor.
4. being able to progress another twenty levels so you could have a better chance of killing a beamoth super mutant I have only been able to kill them from a distance with a sniper rifle or a scoped 44.
5. all of the above except no 1 the whole Idea of the fallout games are that you are a lone avenger.

More cake. No ... More cake and more weapons, bigger landmass ( say 4x what it is now ) More unique items, more enemies, more places to explore. Just FO3, but on steroids. Epic steroids.

More House?s and collectible items, and like carrers, gambler repair man , pizza bringer etc..

and i'd like more saddnes that you can turn into grate saddnes or grate happynes

and i whould like a better ''holding hand'' to place items in my house and stuff

and alot of more custom weapons

Having played the old Fallout games as well as Fallout 3, I'll list what I would like to see implemented; since everyone is doing enough "better quests"/"items and ideas" for me.

I would like to see better character creation. Not the physical look of your char (that was perfectly fine as far as I care). I mean the stats and such. In Fallout 3 your character was pretty much God by level 20 (hell he/she was God before that). There was little point in trying to make a specified build for your character since it was so easy to become a jack-of-all. It was just really up to you on how you wanted to kill your opponent. Tagging skills didn't really mean much since very little was really determined by your skill level. All locks and computer hacks just required your skill to be high enough. Another problem I noticed, were the books. They could be found everywhere, hell you could find 1-3 in almost every building! I'm not bashing Bethesda on this, since this was their first time making a game like Fallout, but they should definitely work on improving this.

For example,

Sneak Make the Stealth boy reusable, but determine how long it works and how well based on your sneak skill level.

Combat Skills Combat skills should be 1/3 per level. By that I mean it takes three skill points to raise your combat level by 1. This makes choosing the weapons you specialize in more meaningful, rather than just maxing them all out and being "Master Gunslinger of the Wasteland".

Traps This skill was combined with Explosives and Repair. In the old Fallout games it determined your ability to detect traps and disarm them. This skill should be brought back. The best way this could be utilized in Bethesda's game style would be to add a small hazard icon that appears when you are near a trap. The alert should be based on your perception and traps skill level. A low perception or trap skill level means you are less likely to notice a trap or the odds in which you are able to disarm it.

Repair Repair should be like Combat skills only instead of 1/3 it should be 1/2. It should also be more in depth allowing you to fix specific parts (like how you heal crippled limbs with stimpacks). With a high repair skill you should be allowed to utilize different means to repair weapons. Such as using a metal pipe to replace the barrel, oil to clean your gun, or as the game already allows, using a duplicate of the weapon to repair it. For bladed weapons, being able to replace the blade/hilt or to sharpen a dull edge. Things like sledge hammers should be even simpler with just having the option of replacing the head or shaft.

With things like these your character build becomes much more immersive and would increase replay value even more since your character build would have to be specialized in order to survive. As for perks, I'm conflicted. I like being able to choose one every level, but their bonuses are just too powerful and have virtually no consequences. This contributes to making your Fallout 3 character overpowered.

i liked fallout 3 BUT some stuff wasn't so good
1. ending no explanation
2. vats i can shoot without it and always hit but all vats would be cool
3. bigger map okay yea its big but after some time it seems to be small.
4. final thing the city's they are too small and to few there are like 4 towns how many did fallout 2 have? ALOT i think

but i will always love fallout :fallout:

Id rather see some add on's, I have just started to play Fallout 3 and basically am done with it, it is too bad that you are only restricted to washington DC, here is where the add on's come into play, add on new states, Virginia, Penn, NJ, ect ect the story line could go on and on, allow us to use the same character, let us gain rank within fractions, as stated previousely, and definately more indept quests.

Another vote for groin shots. Hands down the biggest thing missing that I've noticed.

More vice. I should be able to smoke if I want to. Even just as a graphic without any kind of function. Paying a hoker to fall asleep was pretty much an insult.

DLC for everyone, I mean come on...give me the opportunity to pay you more money for more content. Maybe even a modified GECK for consoles.

Also, one of those hats you can put beer cans in. I'd wear that [censored] everywhere.

Interplay does not allow player-created mods on the 360. Sony does allow for it on the PS3, but unfortunately it seems like Bethesda is much more cooperative with MS.

I would like to see a reversion of SPECIAL, Perks and Traits towards the original Fallout games...

When SPECIAL actually OUTLINED your character.
Skills being more varied and out of 300 not 100.
Starting Traits.
Less Linear.
More varied dialog... Dont hire big stars, just hire some fools so you can pay them the same ammount put have YEARS AND YEARS of voice.
It should be impossible to finnish the game in one play through as choices should have later knock on events.
Groin and Eye shots please....
