What do you want to see in Skyrim?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 4:22 pm

It would be cool to see in Skyrim seamless travel between dungeons, caves, houses, ect, where it gets dark for one second while you travel through the threshold of the door and then youre in, no load screen.

It would be cool to introduce new weapons, instead of glass, obsidian, (just an example) but still have some originals like steel, elven, ect.

Anyone hear of the Dark Brotherhood return? It would be VERY sweet if they made a new return, possibly with some new techniques you could only learn from them, as well as a better story for it.

Hopefully Alchemy will return better, bigger, more expansive and as crazy as ever. im a plant person so if Alchemy is not in Skyrim, ill be honest, i might reconsider buying it. the Elder scrolls series isnt TES without alchemy.

It would be cool to possibly get married as a side quest and have children (not to copy the Fable series) but have one of the sie quest or random encounters be when you get home you see a note on the table saying you need to give X amount of gold to (random dungeon/cave/ house you havent been to yet) and save her.

Mounts would be nice to have a return but have mount attacks, wither archery on horseback or sword or spell. i hated how i couldnt attack and had to get off my hourse whilest being chase randomly about the forest by cave trolls. at least if mounts return, let them do something other than just be there to look pretty and be a ride.

I didnt like how in Oblivion, if you stole something and someone saw it youd instantly have a bounty and guards could somehow magically appear/know where you are, what you did, without the guy even telling the guard he saw me steal. i think it would be cool to have a system where if someone sees me try to steal, they would try to get it back by asking for it back or if they are more aggresive, attack me to get it back. if i attack back, then he can go run to the guards and say this guys stabbed me and took this ect. ect. then youd have a bounty and people would be after you. It seems to make sense. You dont see a kid go into a store to steal candy, see him do it, and then magically a cop car comes just because you witnessed this kid take a 5 cent candy. One more step toward realism Bethesta ;]

More to come... this is just off the top of my head, the list will continue, any thoughts?

Celebrations would be cool. Like festivities where the city changes a bit to celebrate turdas or sundas or something. some day of the week

They aren't going to get rid of glass which is very well established in the lore and replace it with obsidian just because that's what we have in real life. Besides, ebony is essentially the Elder Scrolls equivalent of obsidian. Also you might be able to decrease load times with an SSD, but "screen goes dark for 10+ seconds" is more realistic. The load screen is there to let you know the game hasn't crashed during loading.

I would like to see somewhat interesting animations during crafting (smithing, alchemy, enchanting) to make the menu crafting systems less boring.

some other cool things would be:

Multi-companion parties, where you can have people follow you based on hirablility, and how much money you have as well as popularity and if youre good or evil.

Books still giving you skill increases.

Shop keepers, not unkillable and respawnable , and shop items respawn randomly and different types based on level, choices, ect.

I hated the fact when you raided a shop that shop was forever barren and the shop keeper looked sad with an empty shop. lol

i dont like useless help. what i mean by that is i dont want or like missions where there are other people involved trying to help you and fight just to die in one to two hits. at least give them a few points to their vitality and strength so its not like a level one human and a mud crab against two Daedroth. just seems redundant, and irrelevant.

very true. i wasent exactly saying replace glass with obsidian or replace any armor class with another for that matter. i was simply implying they add some fresh new flavors to the armor/weapons department. ive seen, fought, looted, and assassinated many glas clad bandits, just hoping to see some leatherskin cloaks or something. something more real but realistic to TES lore. maybe still have the regular armor and weapons but just have reinforced and double layered, or double forged blades ect

also as a side note, obsidian is volcanic glass, so it would technically be a variant to a glass armor, not nessicarily ebony which i belive is a dense wood, rather than a silica substance.

Yeah, I really hope I don't see any bandits in glass or marauders in daedric anymore haha

I would love to see the return of some Morrowind sets. Also I want a larger variety of helmets made from the same material. For example Morrowind had 3 different Daedric helmets, which was really cool.

Actually in the Elder Scrolls universe http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Ebony is a very rare type of dark volcanic glass which is heavier and stronger than the regular green glass. Also Daedric armor is made from Ebony. In morrowind there were Ebony mines, which reminds me: more various types of mines would be very cool in Skyrim.

I want stealing and murdering to be both more rewarding and far more difficult. That being said, I have no idea as to how that can be implemented. I'll leave that up to Bethesda. :P

Other than that, I wish we could block with a one-handed sword.

I wanna see climbing, badly. Or at least a perk where we can stick to walls and jump again to get up tall buildings. Kinda like acrobat in DCUO. It'd be better though if you could hang grab ledges and mantles around, like in tenchu.

I'd also like to see Daedric Ice weapons return. You could have a ice dagger that an assassin sticks in an enemy, and breaks it off, leaving some in them, and it reforms in the cold air. You could have maces and hammers that leave cold patches on enemys, that slow down their swing or run speed depending or where you hit them. And since arrows are gonna be expensive, you could have an ice bow that has some arrows on the front that you break off, and they reform in the cold air, so you always have infinite high damage arrows in cold areas.

Id also like to see some nice unarmored perks, to compensate for no blocks with some weapon combos.

But ultimately I want the game to never run out of quests, so I can play and level up for months after I have beaten all the main quests if I want.

If you wanna improve stealth, adding in the "no psychic guard" and "Attack and Hide" mods are a good place to start. Also add more thief specific tools, and heists you can pull, like maybe robbing an imperial armory of a rare gold armor that is hard to fence, and agents have been sent to track down the armor. So only poeple you have a high disposition with wouldn't rat you out, but probably would under the threat of death, so once you fence the armor, high level agents come after you.

It'd be good too if guards had awareness levels like tenchu, assassin creed etc.

More options in Character Creation and hopefully the move one slider and all the features move with it are gone.

You can sell stolen stuff to more merchants.

Have an annoying Male Wood Elf.

Esbern has a weapon called Osric or Osricbrand and he has Unique Armor. (Don't give him just Standard Blades armor give him something epic)

Have the feature at the end of the tutorial where you can change your Race if you don't like it but be able to back out of it unlike Fallout 3 where you couldn't.

Enemies fighting other Enemies like if a Wolf sees a Troll he'll go fight it because it's in his territory.

Bretons aren't ugly and are still human looking, if they do look unique or have pale skin don't make them completely ugly or give them features that look horrible.

Racial Abilites like Adrenaline Rush, Woad, Shield, Berserk, Voice Of The Emperor, etc are in. If they have their effects changes then that's ok although I do hope they make the cut.

Be able to choose a voice for the Dragon Shouts something similar to what Dragon Age Origins had but not the conversations in combat or any other type of conversation just the Dragon Shouts and the Grunts when you get hit.

Skills
Crafting your own armor, finding iron ignots and make Iron armor, find a wolf pelt, make wolf armor. More looks on your character would be nice. (bear pelts <3)

Hand-to-hand
It should be way better then oblivion, it was so fully underrated. Why not having perks to have the knowledge where to hit with your hands to add extra crits. Combo killing, would be very nice in a hand-to-hand fight. (disarming very easily). I really hope hand-to-hand gets a buff.

Combining 2 magic powers (dual magic wield)
1 hand to use fire, other hand to use air? Flamethrower.
That sort of combinations to add for the dual weapon style would be awesome.

Running, sliding
With a high agility and/or speed u would be able to slide while walking off a hill. Making you go faster off the hill. Or with enough speed slide to your enemy or cover.

Thieving
Not just open the inventory of the NPC but let the hand of the player reach the bag, pocket of the NPC. Like it's hard and you need to be close.

Dragon riding
Doh... awesome to have a mission where you can ride a dragon. (or just during the fight)

Adoring fan
Please give my sandbag..

Just giving my imagination, hope some will be used.

The ability to knock people out, but not kill them with your fists and certain weapons. It would make bar fights awsome.

There is this real cool feature of the mod "real fatigue" that once you've hurt someone enough there is a chance they will be too weak to get up and will lay on the ground, struggeling to breath. This has lead to some awsome moments- I accidently hit a patrolling guard around the layawin/bravil area with a bow at long range thinking it was a bandit, but had no money and didn't want the jail sentance. So we fought, I just about won and he lay at the edge of his life by the side of the road. Not wanting the bounty of murder, I hesitate to finish him but know he may be up again to follow me if I don't. But then from in the woods I see a wolf comming towards us, so I jump behind the bridge we were on, and hear the sounds of him being killed off by the wolf as I walked away...

simple changes lead to interesting gameplay, the ability to leave someone down and out and not kill them really adds some new angles... lots of other things like this too, but that was one with a cool story ;)

Seasons.

I reckon seasons are cool beyond imagination if the nature changes and the trees and the people working in the field and all, but how do we manage the time passing too slow? In Oblivion we barely play a few in game months, that's just two seasons time

true, but wouldnt that make you wanna play for the rest of the seasons? like if they went in depth with it and every season gave every guild a new set of quests, so you can keep going back to the same faction with new stuff or something. maybe have seaons each have their own quests like 50 60 plus per season alone? idk just an idea

I want Mysticism back. And if it's not in, I want the ability to mod it back in via the Creation Kit. It's my character's most studied skill. And it's a big part of the lore of the Psijics.

I want to see snow storms with very low visibility like the storms in Morrowind.
I want to see frozen lakes and ice fishing.
