What do you do when anti-skyrim friends want to chat?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 5:30 pm

I have a ton of friends that don't play the game, or even go as far as to hate on it. A few in particular just LOVE to send out chat invites to me. Whenever they do send invites the following happens:

A) I'll join and find myself to be missing out on some slightly important dialogue due to having two separate conversations going on on both Skyrim and in my headset.

B) I'll join and have to turn my mic down and basically ignore the party for a good three or so minutes, sometimes longer, multiple times, which is rude and seems to piss them off.

C) I'll just Appear Offline and ignore everyone until I can find a couple of Skyrim lovers online.

D) I just won't give a crap and ignore them, they'll send out even more invites and then they get butt-hurt later and force me to come up with a reasonable excuse for why I ignored them.

I really dislike hurting their feelings, and it seems like the logical thing to do would be to tell them that I'm busy playing Skyrim and need to play alone at times, but a lot of my friends just don't give a crap and start raging.

Wish people would let me play Skyrim in peace. :tes:

How do you handle situations where people wish to chat with you? What is your reasoning / thinking behind doing what you do? Thanks for reading and hopefully posting!

This. I enjoy the singleplayer-ness for a reason.

How about talking to them about what it is they want to chat about?

Assuming it isn't just to bash Skyrim, at any rate.

I appear as "away" when playing Skyrim. There is absolutely no way I could attempt to talk to anyone when so much of the game has to do with what you hear.

My friend and I play side by side for the most part but then again we know how to shut the [censored] up and enjoy the game and not spoil it for each other.

And here I thought I had problems.

I'd probably just say "later."

I don't know anyone ANTI-TES but I know people who don't play it.
If I'm doing something important in dialogue or stealth ( I have to concentrate at stealth)
I'll talk to people if I'm just out spelunking and clearing out caves/dungeons etc but I don't tend to talk much if I am playing.

When my anti-TES friends wants to chat I'll sometimes ignore their invites, until they get the message and try the next day.

When my girlfriend sits down and wants to talk I'll stop what I'm doing, move closer and embrace her and have a deep conversation. :D

I don't associate with anyone that dislikes or refuses to talk about Skyrim. Some of my friends don't play it, or don't have it yet, but I don't get along with the type of people that hate games like Skyrim.
