What if you woke up tomorrow morning...

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:20 pm

What if you woke up tomorrow morning in the wasteland with nothing else other than a Fatman and 1 mininuke? What would you do with 1 precious mininuke? Demand a town let you in or else? Bluff raiders by giving you supplies or their whole camp will be obliterated by a barrage of mininukes you do not have? Sell the fatman and mininuke to get a start on your life?

If I were in the Mojave I'd try to get to the Gun Runners, then enter Freeside. If I were in the Capitol Wasteland I'd probably have to use it on some enemies, but if I could keep it I'd try to reach Megaton and sell it to Moira. Rivet CIty seems too dangerous to reach.

First, I'd find some clothes! Then some water and iodine tablets. Then, yeah I may sell or trade the fatman/nuke for a hunting rifle, ammo and other equipment.

I would sit around content in the knowledge that I no longer need to eat, drink, or sleep and if enemies come I can abuse their idiotic ai by simply crouching.

Draw a smiley face in the bloody hand-print I place on it after digging out a rotten tooth, name it, and have it as my best friend as I roam the wastes. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO_MYX_Oto0 )

The essence of this topic gets me so excited for F4's premise. I have fun thinking about what it would be like to live and wake up one day in a post apocalyptic world, maybe even experience the apocalypse. What would I be like in that world, is fun to consider. In fallout 4 you aren't born in the wasteland or in a vault, you actually experience the end of the world, and wake up the next day in the wastes (even if two centuries later). That is going to make having an emotional connection with the character so awesome, I hope they pull it off properly. They did the transition from the vault well in 3, so I don't see why a transition from pre war to post will be too much harder. But voiced characters changes everything.

And I'd sell the fatman

Barter the mini nuke and fatman to get a bundle of caps, use that bundle of caps to apprentice myself to someone skilled in firearm repair and ammo reloading, and then try to make a decent living out of fixing peoples guns and making new ammo. That trade will always be in demand in the wastes, and honestly I would svck hard as a wasteland wanderer. Much better to be a skilled tradesman who will be of value to any warlord instead of a dead hero who got killed by some raiders while he was out for a walk.

How many caps do YOU think you would get from selling the Fatman/Mininuke right off the bat (guessing from your own personal Charisma/Barter skill stats)?

Barter it for more practical gear and essential supplies (food and water).

Being completely honest here: I'd magically stash it in my desk or file cabinet, thinking that I'll someday use it (even though I know I'll never use it).

Well said...although maybe that time would come where over 100 raiders are about to invade your town and you have no choice but to pull it out and thump it out hoping you can save your town?

Sell for a [censored] ton of Med-X and then sit in a hole, waitin' 'round to die. I don't won't to live in a world without indoor plumbing, clean water, or antibiotics.

I'd beat raiders to death with the fatman, and take what weapons they have.

Well I'm sure we've all had role play fantasies about being dropped naked into a brutal world...

(oh, awkward, just me?)

So in this scenario we're fantasizing about waking up naked in a brutal world with nothing but a fatman? .... well at least we'll have company. :)

I'd try my best to make it to a settlement to sell the Fat Man and mini nuke, and then I'd use the caps (I estimate I'd get about 400, depending on the condition of the nuke) to buy a cheaper, more practical firearm and some basic supplies. From there I'd try to wander and scavenge.

Trade the nuke for some rad-away and a laser pistol and ammo.

Being so close to radioactive material can't be healthy.

And I always wanted to pew pew.

I mean am i waking up in the actual Fallout world, game mechanics included or am I waking up in a realistic version of it? I think that's influence my decisions a bit.
